Chapter 514 The Driver's Clue

Cliff gently pulled his hand away. "Sir, I don't know you."

Matthew and Daniel, standing nearby, exchanged worried glances.

Daniel stepped forward. "Cliff, it's me, Daniel Taylor, the boss's assistant. Do you remember me?"

Cliff stared at him, trying to recall something.

Suddenly, his eyes lit up. "I remember you! You're..."

In the next moment, he clutched his head in pain. "I remember you, but I can't remember where we met. Ah! It hurts."

He cried out in agony, holding his head.

Doctors and nurses rushed in. "Gentlemen, please let the patient rest. Don't agitate him."

Matthew and Daniel reluctantly left the room.

In the hallway, Matthew stood with his hands on his hips. "If Cliff is here, Michael must be in this hospital too."

He pulled out his phone and made a call. "Check the inpatient list at Tomorrow's Cure Hospital and see if Michael is there."

He hung up and paced back and forth in front of the room, his face tense.

Daniel, sitting on a bench, looked up at him. "Sit down, will you? You're making me dizzy."

At the end of the hallway, in the stairwell, Sherry took out her phone and quietly called Elizabeth.

Elizabeth answered quickly. "Sherry, how are you?"

Sherry kept an eye on Matthew while covering the phone with her hand. "Elizabeth, I overheard Matthew taking a call about Michael, so I followed him to Tomorrow's Cure Hospital."

Elizabeth's voice became excited. "Sherry, do you have news about Michael? Is he hospitalized?"

Sherry whispered, "I heard him mention Cliff, who seems to be a driver."

Elizabeth got even more excited. "Yes! Cliff is Michael's Phantom driver! He loves riding in that car! What happened to Cliff?"

"He's in the hospital, in the neurosurgery ward. It seems like Cliff has amnesia. He doesn't remember where Michael is. But Matthew is already investigating if Michael is in this hospital."

Elizabeth took a deep breath. "Got it. Thank you, Sherry. Take care of yourself, especially since you're not alone now."

Sherry nodded. "Don't worry about me. I'll keep you updated."

Elizabeth felt grateful. "Thank you, Sherry."

She hadn't expected Sherry to be so loyal and helpful.

Once Cliff fully regained his senses, he took Matthew and Daniel to the site of the accident.

The guardrail was smashed, and below was a sheer drop.

Matthew stood at the edge, feeling dizzy.

He quickly stepped back onto the road, his face pale, and said to Daniel, "I didn't find Michael on the hospital's inpatient list. There's no record of him in the emergency admissions for the past month either."

Daniel frowned at the abyss before them. "The boss can't just vanish. He wouldn't have fallen off."

He turned to Cliff. "Was the accident severe?"

Cliff shook his head. "Not particularly. The car had collision protection, so it wasn't damaged. But it was dark and raining heavily. The other car seemed to be speeding and was more durable, pushing our car off course. I hit my head on the glass and lost consciousness. As for the boss..."

He lowered his head in guilt. "I don't know what happened to him."

Matthew paced anxiously. "Michael is missing, neither alive nor dead."

Daniel was still figuring out how to explain this to Dean.

They drove back to the city and went to the traffic enforcement department to inquire about the accident.

The department confirmed that when they arrived at the scene, only the damaged car was there, with no one inside.

The occupants must have been moved before the police arrived, but no one knew where.

Matthew was puzzled.

Daniel was also at a loss.

Despite the lack of concrete results, he called Dean.

"Dean, the boss's car was in an accident on the cemetery ring road. But he's missing."

"Missing? What does that mean? Is he alive or dead?"

"We don't know. He's just gone."

In Valoria.

After hanging up, Dean was unsure how to relay this to Elizabeth.

She had overheard enough and immediately called Matthew.

Matthew explained the situation to her.

Elizabeth stood frozen. So, his disappearance wasn't intentional; he had an accident and went missing.

She felt a deep sense of guilt.

Why did she always think the worst of him when something happened?

This was her fault for not considering things carefully and hiding the truth from him. Yet, he still transferred the shares to Quinn as she wanted.

How heartbroken must he have been? He didn't even get to know the truth before disappearing.

That couldn't be right.

She hadn't explained things to him yet! He deserved to know the truth. He should see Eloise after her surgery.

How happy would he be to see her alive!

She grabbed Dean. "Go pack your things and take Pearl and Nolan back home."

Dean looked at her. "What about you?"

"I'm coming too."

"Elizabeth, are you going back to find Michael?"

"Yes."

"Can Nolan go back?"

"He's on break. We'll bring him back for school later."

Dean gazed at her. "Elizabeth, I know it's hard for you to accept this."

Elizabeth glared at him. "What fact? That's not a fact! I will find him! I will!"

Dean sighed and held her shoulders. "I'm sorry about the accident. I used to dislike him because he ignored you in Valoria. But after following you to Celestria, I saw he cared for you as much as you did for him. Elizabeth, if he's really gone, I hope you won't be too sad and stay strong."

Elizabeth brushed his hand away. "Dean, don't say that. I won't believe it without proof."

Dean frowned. "The accident happened days ago. The rescue team has searched multiple times with no results. If Michael fell off the cliff and wasn't found, the chances of survival are slim."

Elizabeth knew this too.

But didn't it also suggest another possibility: that he wasn't at the bottom of the cliff but was rescued on the spot?
