Chapter 571 Elizabeth, You're Finished
William shouted at Anthony, "You reckless idiot! What good does it do us if Elizabeth goes broke? Even if Jennifer's loaded, what does that have to do with us? You think she's gonna give us any of it?"
Anthony's face twisted with anger. "I don't care! I used to love Elizabeth so much, and she dared to betray me! Marrying Michael was one thing, but falling in love with him? Since then, she's looked at me like I'm nothing! I hate the way she looks at me with disgust and disdain! I just don't want to see her happy! Why should she have both love and a successful career while I have nothing but failure and heartbreak?"
He ran his hands through his hair, growling softly, "I just want to see her fail! I can't stand seeing her succeed!"
William sighed, seeing Anthony's state. "Anthony, you know she married Michael because she had no choice."
Anthony snapped, "At first, she had no choice. But later? She fell in love with him and had three kids with him! She was with me for three years and wouldn't even let me touch her! She never respected me!"
William patted his shoulder. "Let's go home."
"Dad, do you think I can't change? Do you think your son will always be a failure? Don't worry, Dad, I'm your only family, and I will make sure you live comfortably in your old age!"
William waved dismissively. "Just stop talking! If you didn't come around to upset me every day, I'd consider myself lucky!"
Anthony protested, "Dad, even you look down on me!"
William frowned. "Is that my fault? Is it my fault I don't respect you? I gave you all my savings, even the money for my burial plot! I've worked hard my whole life, and what do I have to show for it? When I die, I won't even be able to rest in peace, not knowing how you'll handle my body!"
Anthony grabbed William's arm. "Dad, give me one last chance! This time, I will rise again! I will prove to everyone that I'm not a failure! I will build a successful career and give you a good life!"
William gently pulled his arm away, speaking calmly. "Anthony, I don't have high expectations for you. Just live a stable life. We still have the money from selling the house, and that's enough for us to live comfortably for the rest of our lives."
Anthony got into the car. "Dad, you still don't believe in me."
William looked weary. "Fine, let's go home. We'll talk more there."
As he settled into the passenger seat, he said slowly, "Forget about the Quinn shares. There's no hope for that."
Anthony gripped the steering wheel tightly. "Who says there's no hope? As long as Michael doesn't come back, we have a chance to take over Quinn!"
William was skeptical. "With all those bodyguards at Michael's villa, how do you plan to get Quinn?"
Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Dean arrived at the office.
Dean updated Elizabeth on the current state of the Jones Group. "Elizabeth, Jennifer's pulled in a ton of investment and hired a top-notch tech team. She's doing all this to target the Jones Group."
"Dean, I know. Her goal is to bankrupt the Jones Group."
"Elizabeth, you don't seem worried at all."
"What's the point of worrying? Jennifer got all that investment, but she must have paid a price for it. We don't have the money to keep up with her. If she wants the Jones Group to go bankrupt, we'll let her have her way. When we can't hold on any longer, we'll declare bankruptcy."
Dean was shocked by Elizabeth's attitude. "Elizabeth, are you sure? This company is your and your father's hard work. Are you really willing to let it all go? How can you give up so easily? Jennifer is your enemy! You're just going to let her get away with this?"
"Dean, we don't have a choice. You know how much money the Jones Group has. Jennifer wants a long-term price war, and we can't compete."
Dean was desperate. "If she can get investment, so can we! Why don't you ask Michael for help? His Stellar Enterprises has plenty of funds. With his support, we could turn the tables on Jennifer!"
Elizabeth thought for a moment. "Stellar Enterprises isn't back in Michael's hands yet. And he's still in Majestic City dealing with things. I don't want to bother him with this. We've already burdened him enough. Dean, we need to find our own solution."
Dean looked guilty. "I'm sorry, Elizabeth. This is all my fault."
"This is between Jennifer and me. How is it your fault?"
"Elizabeth, did I ever tell you that my ex is now the chief tech advisor at FutureTech Robotics Group? I think he's doing this to get back at me. He doesn't want to see me succeed."
"Dean, is his tech better than yours?"
Dean nodded reluctantly. "I hate to admit it, but yes. He knows all my techniques."
Elizabeth resigned herself. "If we're outmatched, there's nothing we can do."
Dean was insistent. "Elizabeth, we can hire a better tech team and catch Jennifer off guard!"
As they were talking, Elizabeth's phone rang.
She looked at the screen and saw "Jennifer."
She glanced at Dean.
"Who is it?" Dean asked.
"Jennifer."
Dean's eyes widened. "What's she calling you for? She hasn't won yet, and she's already gloating?"
Elizabeth answered the call.
Jennifer's smug voice came through. "Elizabeth, you're finished."
