Chapter 200 His Breath Sprayed On Her Face

After Michael finished talking, he slumped against the wall, holding his head with one hand, eyes shut tight, looking like he was in some serious pain.

With his other hand, he grabbed Elizabeth's wrist.

Elizabeth shot a glance at Michael. She tried to pull away but couldn't.

How could he be so strong even when drunk?

Elizabeth was a bit annoyed. "Michael, don't you think people gossip about us enough already? Do you really want to give them more to talk about? Let go of me; people are watching!"

Michael didn't budge.

He stood in the shadow of the terrace, opened his eyes, and looked at her.

He said, "Elizabeth, didn't you say that no matter how much people pressured you, you wouldn't drink? So what happened tonight? Why did you drink so much? If I hadn't come, would you have drunk every drink they offered you?"

Elizabeth glanced at the handsome men and beautiful women in the hall, then turned back to look at Michael.

She said, "Haven't you ever heard the saying 'times change, and so do people'? Just because I didn't drink back then doesn't mean I don't drink now. After all, I was young and naive back then, with a lot to learn."

Michael said in a low voice, "You're still young now. You'll always be younger than me."

Elizabeth didn't catch what he said. She moved closer to him and asked, "What did you just say?"

The night was deep. The autumn night wind was a bit chilly, gently lifting the white gauze on the terrace.

Michael had already let go of her hand and was leaning against the wall, his head tilted.

Seeing him like this, Elizabeth guessed he must be feeling very uncomfortable.

She asked him with concern, "Michael, did you drink too much? Are you feeling unwell?"

Michael shook his head slowly and said, "I'm fine. I can still drink more."

Elizabeth turned him around and looked up. His face was as red as a boiled shrimp, which startled her.

She asked, "Michael, are you allergic to alcohol?"

Michael slowly shook his head, his voice becoming very low. "I don't know. But I wasn't allergic to alcohol before.."

Elizabeth helped him off the terrace. "I'll take you to rest for a while."

She supported him as they walked to the front desk.

Michael leaned his body against her, letting her half-carry, half-support him as they walked.

Elizabeth got him a room at the front desk and helped him to the room.

Michael, being tall and strong and having drunk, almost put his entire weight on her.

Elizabeth was exhausted.

As soon as they entered the room, she turned to close the door, but Michael suddenly pressed her against it.

Michael's face was flushed, and his eyes were red.

He propped his arms on either side of Elizabeth's body, slightly bending down, his forehead touching hers.

Elizabeth couldn't stand him being so close and pushed his chest, turning her head to the side.

She said, "Michael, you're drunk. Go rest, and then have your driver and bodyguard take you home."

Michael held her chin and turned her face back. "Elizabeth, stop avoiding me, okay?"

His voice was low and hoarse, indescribably gentle.

Elizabeth wanted to lower her head. Her voice also unconsciously lowered. "I'm not avoiding you."

Michael's face was so close to hers, his alcohol-laden breath on her face.

Elizabeth had also had a few drinks tonight, and the whole situation left her a bit flustered.

She thought to herself, "Damn it, I shouldn't have brought him up here. I should've let Daniel or Matthew handle it after getting the room."

Her feet felt like they were glued to the floor, unable to move.

She looked into Michael's eyes, feeling her heartbeat quicken.

Michael whispered in her ear, "Elizabeth, I admit defeat, okay?"

Elizabeth felt a burning sensation in her chest, longing for someone to ignite it.

Michael was already leaning on her, his lips slowly closing in on hers.

Elizabeth felt like she couldn't breathe, as if she was about to faint.

Michael's lips were just inches away.

Suddenly, Elizabeth's phone rang.

She snapped out of it instantly, her eyes clearing, and quickly answered the phone.

It was Sarah calling.

In the room, besides their breathing, there was only the sound of the phone.

Sarah's loud voice was clear in the quiet room. "Elizabeth, where are you?"

Elizabeth replied, "Sarah, I..."

Sarah interrupted her. "Okay, I don't care where you are, just come over quickly. I'm waiting for you in the center of the hall. I promised to show you the gift I got for you tonight!"

Elizabeth glanced at Michael with some unease, then gently covered the phone and stepped aside to continue the call.

Michael gave her a puzzled look.

Were they discussing something they didn't want him to know about? It almost seemed like they were hiding something from him.

"Okay. I got it. I'll be right there." Elizabeth hung up the phone and walked over to Michael.

She lowered her head, gently brushed her hair behind her ear, and said softly to Michael, "Michael, I have to go. Get some rest."

After saying this, she quickly opened the door and left.

Elizabeth held her wildly beating heart, standing outside the door to calm down.

She took several deep breaths and patted her cheeks hard.

She opened her eyes wide and said to herself in the hallway, "Elizabeth, wake up. That's your ex-husband! You have no relationship anymore! Don't be foolish! Didn't you work hard to get away from him? Why would you make the same mistake??"

She entered the elevator and pressed the button for the floor.

By the time she reached the hall, her expression had returned to normal.

Seeing her, Sarah quickly walked over. "Elizabeth."

Elizabeth smiled at Sarah. "Sorry, Sarah, for keeping you waiting."

Sarah leaned close to Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, I clearly saw you and Michael together on the terrace just now. How did you both disappear in the blink of an eye?"

Elizabeth lowered her head, her expression a bit unnatural.

She said, "Michael was drunk, so I took him to a room upstairs to rest."

Sarah winked at her and gently bumped her shoulder. "Elizabeth, you're quite bold, huh? Daring to go back to him? Be honest, did you two do anything inappropriate while you were up there??"

Elizabeth gently pushed Sarah. "What could I do with him? He was so drunk he couldn't even walk. I just got him inside when you called me. I didn't even have time to say a word to him. I came right down to see you."

Sarah laughed. "So it turns out I was the one being inconsiderate. Did my call ruin your moment?"
