Chapter 100 Loren's Talent
Penny couldn't promise anything!
She thought for a bit and said, "Before dinner, I went to the restroom. All the donated items were locked up. No one could've gotten in. I was gone for less than five minutes."
Aurora was sure the bracelet wasn't hers.
Kevin looked at Aurora and asked, "Aurora, are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure." Aurora glanced at Emily in the audience. Emily was with her when they donated the items. Could it have been Emily?
Aurora said, "Kevin, let's check the surveillance footage."
Only the footage could clear things up.
"Okay." Kevin asked someone to get the footage.
While everyone waited, a staff member came back, looking flustered. "Mr. Robinson, the surveillance footage is broken."
"Broken?" Kevin asked, raising his voice. "How could it be such a coincidence? Can't you fix it?"
Now everyone knew the surveillance was down, and the crowd started whispering.
Who knew if it was really broken?
Maybe the Robinson family wanted to cover for Aurora, so the footage was "broken."
This made things even harder to explain.
The staff member said awkwardly, "Our technician is working on it, but the damage is severe. It might not be fixable."
Aurora was at a loss. The key was the footage, but it was broken. Whether intentional or not, this couldn't be left unresolved.
Just then, a deep voice came from the crowd.
"I'll take a look."
It was John.
John's offer surprised everyone. 'Is Mr. Lewis stepping in?'
Aurora looked at John, and he nodded at her. Aurora said, "Mr. Lewis, thank you for your help."
With John stepping in, Kevin also felt relieved.
Lucas pushed John to the surveillance room, and everyone made their way. Many followed to see what would happen.
Daniel also headed to the surveillance room, with Emily following him. "Daniel, don't worry. With Mr. Lewis helping, Aurora will be fine."
"Why is John helping Aurora?" Daniel stopped, sensing something in Emily's tone.
"I don't know, but Mr. Lewis has helped Aurora before. I think he might be interested in her." Emily said this on purpose. She didn't actually know about Aurora and John's relationship; she just didn't like how worried Daniel looked.
Daniel thought about how Aurora was now working at the Lewis Group and how she almost married John before. Emily's words made him think there might be something between them.
Daniel hadn't seen Aurora's boyfriend in a while. It seemed Aurora had dumped her poor boyfriend and was now involved with John, which was why she rejected him.
That must be it.
In the surveillance room.
A crowd had gathered at the door.
John entered, and Aurora walked up to him. "Can it really be fixed?"
The footage was severely damaged, and Aurora was genuinely worried.
John glanced at Aurora with a calm expression and said, "Be confident. It can definitely be fixed."
Hearing this, Aurora smiled.
Their interaction seemed close, surprising the onlookers.
What was the relationship between Aurora and John?
What happened next shocked everyone even more. John was not only fixing the footage but also patiently teaching Aurora. Aurora occasionally nodded or expressed amazement, saying, "It's actually that simple."
Everyone was stunned.
They had never seen John so approachable.
John looked at Aurora with a particular gentleness, and everyone could sense the romantic vibe.
Could John be interested in Aurora?
Someone in the crowd remembered Aurora running away from her wedding, and the Lewis family not pursuing it.
Someone whispered, "Isn't this Ms. White, the one who ran away from Mr. Lewis's wedding? But they seem to have a special bond."
"Maybe they were just playing around. Look at how Mr. Lewis looks at Aurora. It's so affectionate. There must be something between them."
"Yeah, I heard Mr. Lewis is cold and unapproachable, but it seems the rumors were wrong."
"Don't you think Ms. White and Mr. Lewis look great together?"
Aurora didn't hear any of the chatter. She was focused on John's actions.
John's fingers moved quickly over the keyboard, and with a final press of the Enter key, the surveillance footage was restored.
Aurora exclaimed, "It's really fixed. You're amazing."
Seeing Aurora's delighted and admiring expression, John smiled under his mask, his eyes full of affection.
Todd laughed and said, "This is just a small matter for Mr. Lewis."
Aurora moved the mouse to fast-forward the footage, stopping it at the point where she handed the bracelet to the person in charge.
The footage showed nothing unusual until Penny left. Then, a woman in a work uniform appeared sneakily.
John asked the hotel manager, "Do you recognize this woman?"
The manager looked closely. "No, I don't."
The footage only showed a side profile, which wasn't very clear.
Penny spoke up. "Manager, she's new. Just started two days ago. I asked her to watch over things when I went to the restroom."
The manager asked, "New? What's her name?"
"Rose."
Aurora, watching the footage, heard the name, and her eyes narrowed. She looked closely at the person in the video and realized it was indeed Rose.
"How could it be her?" Aurora was puzzled and surprised.
John asked, "You know her?"
Lucas answered for Aurora, "Rose used to work at the same company as Ms. White. Later, Rose framed Ms. White, and when the truth came out, she resigned."
Lucas deliberately said "resigned" instead of "fired" to protect Aurora's reputation so people wouldn't think Aurora was vindictive.
Aurora gave Lucas a grateful look.
John sternly ordered, "Lock down the entire hotel and find her."
The Rose in the footage looked sneaky and left in a hurry, looking flustered.
There was definitely something wrong.
With John's order, the hotel manager immediately had the entrances and exits locked down.
But half an hour passed, and they still hadn't found her.
The charity dinner couldn't be delayed any longer. Aurora and John exchanged a glance, planning to let the dinner continue.
At that moment, Loren's voice came up. "Aurora, that person is still in the hotel. She's hiding in the control room."
Everyone turned to look and saw it was just a child. They all laughed.
How could they believe a child's words?
Loren looked serious, not like he was lying. Aurora, however, believed him and said to John, "Have someone check the control room."
