Chapter 271 File for Bankruptcy

Under Aurora's intense stare, John was getting more and more jittery. He had no clue where this stuff came from and felt totally wronged.

"Aurora, let me explain..." John started, his voice a bit shaky.

"Fine, explain," Aurora said, crossing her arms and tapping her foot impatiently.

"Look, it's like this. Flora is new here, hired by HR. I didn't even..." John began, but his voice trailed off as Aurora turned away.

"I don't want to hear it," Aurora said, shaking her head in frustration.

John was at a loss. This felt like classic unreasonable behavior—Aurora demanded an explanation but wouldn't listen to it.

'Being a man is really too difficult,' he thought.

"Alright then," John sighed, trying to stay calm. "If you won't listen, then just watch."

There were surveillance cameras in John's office. To find out why these things appeared, they just needed to check the footage.

John pulled up the surveillance footage and quickly found the truth. The flesh-colored stockings and the condoms in the trash can were all placed by the secretary named Flora. Her intentions were pretty clear.

'So young, yet so scheming,' John thought.

With solid evidence in hand, John straightened his back and spoke more confidently, his voice tinged with disappointment and hurt. "Aurora, you don't trust me at all, do you?"

Aurora glared at him and retorted, "If I didn't trust you, I would've slapped you by now. But in the end, she's someone you brought in, so it's your responsibility."

"Yeah, you're right," John conceded, his tone conciliatory. "I'll fire her immediately."

John not only fired Flora but also replaced all the female employees in the secretarial department with male employees. Any employee who could come into contact with John was replaced with a male employee.

Word quickly spread in their social circles that John had transferred all the female employees to make Aurora happy.

Despite the teasing, many people still envied Aurora. For a woman to receive such sincere love and have a man who always kept her in his heart, no matter when or where, was something worth boasting about and feeling happy about.

Jack's situation became Aurora's biggest worry. She couldn't reach him and had to tell Lori.

Lori was also in Aetheria. If Richard really took Jack to Aetheria, Lori might have a way to bring him back.

When Lori found out that Jack had acknowledged Richard and left with him, she angrily shouted over the phone, "Ungrateful jerk, walking right into trouble."

Despite her harsh words, Lori couldn't just ignore it. Jack was her brother, after all.

After the call, Aurora felt a bit more at ease knowing Lori was involved.

Summer was about to head out again after just getting back from the old house. Aurora saw him and called out, "Hey champ, where are you off to now?"

"Mr. Collins called. The project we've been working on has made some progress, so he wants me to come over," Summer said, walking over to his mother. "Mom, did you need something?"

"Do you want to be a doctor in the future?" Aurora asked, looking at her son lovingly.

"I don't have that plan right now, but learning more is never a bad thing," Summer replied, his tone carrying a maturity beyond his years. "I want to be like Dad, become someone impressive."

"That's ambitious," Aurora said, feeling deeply gratified.

Loren came downstairs and suddenly said, "Summer, isn't Mom the most impressive one in our family?"

Aurora thought, amused, If John were here, that would sting.

Aurora chuckled, "You've got a point there."

Summer replied, "When it comes to physical strength, Dad's impressive. But in terms of impact, Mom's definitely more formidable. After all, Mom is Dad's sweetheart."

Aurora smiled and asked, "You two are being awfully sweet today. Who taught you this?"

Summer and Loren said in unison, "We just know how to adapt."

Aurora was taken aback. These two sons were too mature in their thinking.

Summer added, "Mom, Dad said that when the twins are born, the five of us will protect you."

"Looks like I'll be in good hands," Aurora laughed, imagining herself surrounded by her five protectors. It felt amazing.

Despite John's playful grumbling about not wanting sons, he was super attentive when it came to his kids. When Aurora was pregnant with Summer and Loren, John hadn't been around to support her. Now, with twin boys on the way, even though he had hoped for daughters, he still took great care of all three of them.

Loren laughed, "Absolutely."

Summer was in a rush to get to Gary's. "Mom, I gotta go. I'm almost late for my meeting with Mr. Collins," he said hurriedly.

"Go ahead, let Lachlan take you," Aurora said, watching her son leave.

After Summer left, Aurora turned to Loren, "Loren, I found a school for you. You'll start tomorrow."

Loren hadn't been to school for a long time. Even though John could hire teachers to come to the house, it wasn't the same as the school environment.

"Mom, is Summer going too?" Loren asked, his eyes wide with curiosity.

"With Summer's intelligence, he doesn't need to go to elementary school anymore," Aurora explained.

Loren was over five years old, and Aurora didn't send him to kindergarten but directly to elementary school.

Loren was stunned. He felt like his intelligence was being insulted. "Mom, I've already self-studied middle school material. It won't be necessary to go the elementary school," Loren said, looking genuinely distressed.

Aurora was taken aback. She sighed, "Buddy, you're only five years old. Your brilliance surprises me"Child prodigies were rare. A few years ago, an eleven-year-old got an admission letter from Starlight University, which was already impressive. Now, she had two genius sons, which was really a headache.

Loren spread his hands, looking helpless. "Well, it is due to the good genes from you and Dad."

Aurora sighed, "You should go to elementary school for a while. And I promise you can skip a grade next year. I just don't want both of you to stand out too much yet. You're still young, not quite time to shine."

"Alright then, I'll just go and play," Loren said, resigned.

The following days were quite peaceful. Aurora went for regular check-ups, and no matter how busy John was, he always made time to accompany her.

After Jack left with Richard, there was no news, and neither did Lori.

Winter quietly passed, and spring was approaching. John became increasingly busy, and Aurora often didn't see him for days.

After Helen was discharged, she kept Aurora company every day to keep her entertained. Sophia also visited occasionally, so Aurora didn't feel too bored.

In the blink of an eye, Aurora's belly was already eight months along, and she had already experienced one bleeding incident. The hospital recommended bed rest, and if that didn't work, they would have to deliver the babies early.

The closer it got to the due date, the more anxious Aurora felt. She was already hospitalized for observation.

"John, I'm a little scared," Aurora murmured, holding John's hand at night. Otherwise, she couldn't sleep.

John stayed by her bed and soothed, "I'm here, get some sleep."

His eyes were bloodshot; he hadn't rested in a long time either.

"John, is something wrong at the company?" Aurora asked with concern, sensing his fatigue.

"No," John smiled, trying to reassure her. "With me , what could go wrong?"

"By the way, I haven't seen Tyler in a long time. Hasn't he come back from Aetheria yet?" Aurora asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.

"No, I temporarily left him there to keep an eye on things. Jack is there too, right? Maybe Tyler can gather some information about Jack," John explained.

"Okay," Aurora said, feeling a bit more at ease but still anxious.

Soon, Aurora fell asleep, her hand still holding John's.

Lucas appeared at the door, and John tucked Aurora in before going out.

"Let's talk outside," John said quietly, closing the door behind him.

After walking a bit further, John turned to Lucas, "Why are you here?"

Lucas hesitated, his face serious, "John, if you can't hold on, you should consider filing for bankruptcy."
