Chapter 420 How About Pursuing Someone Else?

Aurora took the woman to a nearby hospital. For safety, they did an EKG, an ultrasound, blood tests, and more.

Aurora stayed with her throughout the series of tests and then waited with her for the results.

"Is your stomach still hurting?" Aurora handed the woman a cup of warm water.

The woman shook her head and smiled, "It's much better now. Thanks for bringing me here."

"It was the right thing to do. I'm really sorry about what happened," Aurora said apologetically. "Do you need me to call someone for you? It's not safe for you to be alone right now."

The woman's eyes dimmed, and she looked down. "I divorced my husband. He cheated on me. My dad passed away last year. Now, it's just me."

Her voice was filled with sadness.

"I'm sorry!" Aurora hadn't meant to touch a sore spot. "By the way, I'm Aurora White."

"I'm Karolyn Harrington."

While waiting for the results, Aurora learned through their conversation that Karolyn wasn't a local. She had moved here after getting married, only to discover her husband's infidelity shortly after becoming pregnant. She chose to divorce, giving up all claims to their property.

Karolyn currently worked at a flower shop, saving money before her baby was born.

Hearing Karolyn's story, Aurora felt a pang of sympathy. Being a single mom was tough, and divorcing while pregnant took a lot of courage and determination.

When the test results came back, the doctor said everything was fine. She just needed to be careful, rest more, and pay attention to her nutrition.

Aurora asked, "Where do you live? I'll drive you home."

"Oh, I couldn't possibly trouble you," Karolyn declined. "I can just take a cab."

"It's no trouble at all. I'm driving anyway. Don't worry about it."

"Alright then, I live at Rose Garden Estate."

Aurora paused for a moment. She used to live at Rose Garden Estate too.

"I'm very familiar with that area. I used to live there. It's close by. Hop in, I'll take you."

"Really? What a coincidence," Karolyn smiled. "I won't be shy then."

Karolyn was a gentle woman, and Aurora found they got along well.

On the way, they mostly talked about children.

"Are you married, Aurora?" Karolyn asked.

"Yes, I have four kids," Aurora said with a smile as she drove. "Four boys."

"That's wonderful," Karolyn said, touching her belly. "I don't know if mine is a boy or a girl yet."

"Both are great."

"Yes, they are," Karolyn agreed. "Aurora, do you plan to have a daughter?"

"My husband would love to have a daughter," Aurora said, her face lighting up at the mention of John. "But it's all about fate. We can't decide if we'll have a boy or a girl."

Karolyn's eyes flickered with a strange light, but she smiled. "I can tell from your tone that your husband loves you very much."

"Absolutely."

Aurora was confident. "If there's one thing I can be sure of in this world, it's that he loves me."

"You trust your husband that much?" Karolyn said enviously. "You two must have a great relationship."

"Trust is the foundation of marriage."

As they spoke, they arrived at the entrance of Rose Garden Estate. Aurora asked politely, "Karolyn, do you need me to walk you in?"

Karolyn didn't refuse this time. "That would be great."

Aurora smiled. "It's no trouble."

After parking the car, Aurora helped Karolyn into the elevator.

Karolyn lived alone on the eighth floor. When she opened the door, the apartment was filled with the fragrance of flowers.

"I couldn't fit all the flowers in the shop, so I brought some home," Karolyn explained. "Aurora, this is for you."

Karolyn handed Aurora a bouquet of sunflowers.

"Sunflowers symbolize love. Their meaning is, 'Wherever you look, there I am.'"

"Thank you," Aurora said, accepting the flowers with a smile. "Take good care of yourself. I have to go now."

"Alright, I won't keep you," Karolyn said warmly, seeing Aurora to the door and watching her get into the elevator.

After Aurora left, Karolyn closed the door, walked to the window, and hid behind the curtain, watching Aurora get into her car and drive away.

...

Aurora arrived at the Robinson Villa just before eight. Everyone was waiting for her to have dinner. John had arrived a bit earlier.

"Why did it take so long?" John asked.

Aurora had texted John when she left the store, telling him to go ahead to the Robinson Villa without her.

John had finished his work and arrived before Aurora.

"I took a pregnant woman to the hospital for a check-up. I accidentally hit her with my car. Luckily, she's okay."

"Aurora, come sit down and eat. I made BBQ Glazed Ribs and mushroom soup just for you," Ashley said, coming out of the kitchen with a smile.

Kevin smiled warmly. "Aurora, your godmother has been preparing dinner since the afternoon. I haven't had her cooking in ages."

Ashley huffed, "That's because you're so picky. You don't eat this, you don't eat that. From now on, if you want something, ask Madison to make it. Don't bother me."

"See? She gets mad at the slightest thing," Kevin laughed. "Aurora, you should come over more often. That way, I get to enjoy her cooking."

Kevin and Ashley were known for their loving relationship.

Aurora laughed. "As long as you don't mind me being a bother, I'll come over every day."

John's eyes were full of warmth, and he smiled slightly. "Count me in, too."

"How could we mind? I'd love for you to come every day," Ashley said, beaming. "Next time, bring Trey and Jax. I haven't seen them in ages."

Ashley served a bowl of mushroom soup to Aurora. "Have some soup first."

"Okay."

Aurora took a sip and frowned slightly.

"Is it not good?" Ashley tasted it herself. "Oh no, I put too much salt. It's too salty. I'll make a new batch."

"Godmother, don't trouble yourself. It's fine. There are plenty of other dishes."

Just then, Leo walked in. "Is dinner ready? Perfect timing. I'm thirsty. I'll have some soup first."

Leo took a sip and spat it out. "Mom, how much salt did you put in this?"

Ashley's face turned cold. "If you want less salty soup, make it yourself."

Leo fell silent.

Aurora and John exchanged a glance and quietly continued eating.

Leo wasn't ready to give up. "Mom, I'm your son. Can't you be nicer to me? Ever since I started dating Sophia, you've been giving me a hard time."

"If you were as accomplished as Aurora and gave me a grandchild, I'd make you dragon soup if you wanted."

Leo muttered, "I'd love to, but you guys aren't helping. If you gave me some support, I'd have a granddaughter by now."

The mention of a granddaughter made Ashley's heart itch. "Leo, why don't you find someone else? I don't think you and Sophia are a good match. Maybe you should pursue someone else?"

Aurora couldn't help but laugh.
