Chapter 299 Todd's Advice on Pursuing Lori
Todd had always feared this day would come, so he obstructed Lori's pursuit of Allan. Yet, ironically, Allan has indeed developed a genuine interest in Lori.
Allan sat in the chair, hands crossed, looking at Todd. "I think Lori is great. She's tough and resilient..."
Todd retorted, "That's a description of a soldier. Lori is a woman."
Allan said, "Lori is witty and humorous."
Todd said, "Your taste is off. That's just crazy."
Allan said, "Lori is simple-minded."
Todd retorted, "That's dumb."
Allan said, "Lori, she..."
Allan suddenly stopped, staring at Todd, and changed his subject, "You like Lori too?"
Todd sneered twice, looking calm. "No way, I wouldn't go for that shrew. I'm just advising you as a friend. If you marry Lori, your home won't be peaceful."
"It makes it even more interesting." Allan touched his chin and said, "My house is cold and lifeless. If Lori were there, it would be much livelier. We work together, so we'd be partners in life and work. Perfect."
Todd’s eyes widened, a bit agitated, and he quickly said, "This is a trap. You can't fall for it."
"I don't mind." Allan stood up, placing a hand on Todd's shoulder. "I was hesitant, but now that you've said this, I think Lori is perfect for me. I was worried you liked Lori and it would not be appropriate to pursue her. Since you don't like her, I'll go after her."
Todd was stunned, then quickly added. "Allan, I think Ava is great. Look, you're cold, and she's indifferent, perfect match. If you two are together, you won't even need air conditioning in the summer." Todd enthusiastically promoted Ava, saying, "You two are so suitable."
"I don't like cold personalities." Allan said, "It's decided. Come to our wedding."
Todd laughed. "That shrew is hard to chase. Don't speak too soon."
Allan nodded in full agreement. "Lori is straightforward. I don't know what she likes. Todd, you've known her for so long. Do you know what she likes to eat? Since you're experienced, give me some tips."
"I’m single. How much more experience could I have than you?" Todd smirked, "She ..."
Suddenly thinking of something, Todd had a flash of inspiration and said, "Lori loves Mexican food, especially the really spicy kind. The spicier, the better."
Allan was a bit skeptical. "Are you sure?"
Todd said, "I've known her for years. I definitely know better than you. Isn't her personality fiery? Perfect match."
This explanation made sense.
Allan nodded. "What else?"
He never pursued a girl, so he had no experience.
"There's more." Todd said, "Lori is very particular about dining places. It has to be by the water, with dim lighting. You then bring some flowers. Imagine the scene, how romantic."
"Sounds nice." Allan absentmindedly tapped his arm with his index finger: "What flowers does Lori like?"
Todd blurted out, "Morning glories."
"Really?" Allan frowned.
Todd realized he had gone too far and quickly covered, "Morning glories are very romantic flowers. If you give her morning glories, she'll definitely like them."
"Okay." Allan trusted him completely. Just then, Lori came in after finishing her work.
Allan said, "Lori, let's have dinner together after work."
Todd thought this was too fast.
Lori was quite willing when she heard about dinner, almost agreeing immediately. Seeing Todd there, she held back a bit. "Mr. Jennings, it's too kind of you to treat me to dinner."
Todd was still there, and Allan inviting her to dinner didn't seem right.
She had promised Todd not to make a move on Allan.
Todd was about to breathe a sigh of relief when Allan said, "You and Ava have been here for a while now and have performed well. Tonight is to celebrate you both."
Lori agreed immediately. "No problem."
Todd looked at Allan in surprise. His method of inviting girls was quite skilled, even knowing to use others as an excuse.
This wasn't like someone who didn't know how to pursue girls; this was an expert.
Allan had something to do and left first, leaving Lori and Todd in the office.
Lori coldly looked him over. "What are you still doing here?"
"Nothing." Todd saidgloomily as he was about to leave.
Lori teased, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out."
Todd took a few steps, then came back. "Are you really going to dinner tonight?"
"Yes, Mr. Jennings is celebrating for Ava and me. It's a reward from a boss to his subordinates. As the partner of the team leader, can't you be less petty?" Lori pouted. "Mr. Jennings likes men and I like men too, so we have the same interests. I am unable to capitivate Mr. Jennings even if I wanted to."
Lori thought Todd should be wary of those men, not her.
Todd was still uneasy. "Send me the address of the dinner tonight."
"Todd, you're so petty." Lori felt exasperated, earnestly advising, "Men have their own careers. You can't always cling to Mr. Jennings. You have to let him go out and explore."
"I just don't trust you." Todd didn't bother to explain, and this was true. It was only years later that Lori truly grasped the meaning behind those words.
"Fine, I'll send you the location later." Lori waved her hand, muttering, "In a past life, you must have been a woman, so nagging."
Todd said, "I was a man in my past life too."
"What kind of man is as nagging and soft-hearted as you? I haven't even settled the score with you for letting Sandra go. That ugly thing called you a couple of times, and I saw you were moved."
Todd, filled with remorse, did not argue for the first time. He merely cast a subtle glance at Lori and said, "Lori, Sandra was sponsored for her education by Mr. Lewis and later for her studies abroad. He considers Sandra like a sister, and I have known Sandra for many years. I also used to regard her as a sister."
"Today, I did lose my judgment, but it's reasonable. Humans have emotions and desires. I'm not a judge or a god. YIt's really difficult for me to send Sandra to jail."
Todd asked, "If one day you had to arrest your dad, could you really do it?"
Lori’s expression turned colder, "I don’t have a dad."
Wasn't that just angry talk?
Lori didn't bother to find out why Todd knew Richard was her dad.
Lori's mood instantly soured, and she walked out.
Todd immediately regretted saying what he just did, hitting his own mouth.
