Chapter 82 Heartless Woman

A timid person suddenly turning aggressive shocked everyone.

Being cheated on and raising another man's kid crushed his dignity.

People shouldn't wash their dirty laundry in public.. Why would Dean spill the beans unless he was extremely pissed?

Aurora scrolled through the comments online; some felt for Dean, others mocked him.

The gossip was everywhere.

Everyone was dying for the next update.

This news wave would keep the gossip mill running for a while.

John said, "Your dad openly dissed Percy. It might seem like a heat-of-the-moment thing, but he can't handle the fallout."

"He must've thought about the worst-case scenario before acting." Aurora looked at John. She knew he was waiting for her to ask for help, and once she did, he'd definitely step in.

But Aurora couldn't bring up such family drama.

Besides, Dean hadn't come to her, so why should she get involved?

"Jack has surgery today, I need to go to the hospital." Aurora got out of the car. "Mr. Lewis, head back."

John was both amused and annoyed. "So heartless."

Aurora didn't bother to respond. She waved at John with her back to him. "Take half a day off."

It wasn't a request but more of a direct order.

John watched Aurora walk away, eyes full of affection. "Let's have dinner tonight."

"No."

Aurora shot him down immediately.

Jack's surgery was at 10 a.m. While Aurora waited, Sophia called, also about Dean's online revelations.

Jack had seen the news too. He was nervous at first but then felt much better.

"Sis, this is so satisfying. Now that witch Nicole is out of favor, let's see how she bullies you. It's karma."

Aurora was in a good mood too. After sending Jack into surgery, she contacted a lawyer to sue Emily and Mark.

Percy was too busy with his own mess to worry about Emily.

Emily, who had spent a night in detention, looked dazed. She'd never faced such hardship before.

When Emily first got there, she was full of hatred for Aurora. Now she just wanted out.

However, Nicole and Percy didn't come to her rescue. Instead, she overheard the guards gossiping about Percy and Nicole.

"Who would've thought Percy had such a kink? And that woman is married."

"Older women are more understanding and likable."

"I heard that woman is the wife of White Group's Dean. Dean himself exposed the affair."

"Being cheated on and raising another man's kid. No guy could tolerate that."

Emily was terrified. "What are you talking about? I want to see Percy. I am Mrs. Taylor. I want to see Daniel. Call them now. Did you notify the Taylor family?"

"Save your breath. The Taylor family was notified long ago, but no one came. Percy's too busy with his own problems to care about you. By the way, are you really Percy's illegitimate daughter?"

"Yes, my dad is Percy. You better release me now." Emily was very arrogant.

The guards laughed. "You want out? That's tough. The other party's lawyer has already sued you. The court will hear the case soon. Just wait to go to jail."

"What? That bitch Aurora dares?" Emily was shocked and then furious. "I want to see Daniel. Notify the Taylor family. I have money. How much do you want? I can pay you."

"Bribing law enforcement? That's another crime. If I were your husband, I wouldn't come either. Having such a vicious wife is really unlucky."

"No, Daniel wouldn't treat me like this. You must not have notified him. You're lying," Emily insisted, still in denial.

The guards couldn't be bothered with her. It was mealtime, and they switched shifts and went to eat.

Daniel couldn't slept all night, waiting for news from the Harris family, but he didn't expect this kind of news.

Percy's affair with Nicole was now public knowledge, which was a disaster.

Percy was even less likely to acknowledge Emily now, leaving her as an illegitimate daughter hidden from the public eye.

As a man, Daniel understood the male psyche well. Affairs were for excitement, but who would really leave their wife for a mistress?

Especially someone like Percy, where a divorce would involve too many interests. It was absolutely impossible.

And Mrs. Harris came from a military family and had a fierce temper. Percy was probably too busy dealing with his own problems.

If he were Percy, he would abandon Nicole and Emily.

In other words, Emily was no longer valuable.

Jane hurried in. "Daniel, did you see the news online? Percy's affair with Nicole has blown up."

"I saw it." Daniel pondered. "Mom, we can't get involved with Emily. No matter what Aurora does, we should pretend we don't know. I consulted a lawyer, and Emily will probably go to prison. Once the case is over, I'll divorce her."

"Daniel, you're doing the right thing. We need to cut ties with Emily as soon as possible," Jane said. "We initially wanted to leverage the Harris family's influence through Emily, but we didn't expect things to turn out like this. Emily, as an illegitimate daughter, is not worthy of Daniel."

If Emily's background hadn't been exposed, they could have borrowed Percy's influence. Now that everyone knew Emily was an illegitimate daughter with a shady background, it was more trouble than it was worth.

Daniel was already an illegitimate child. Being associated with another illegitimate child would make it even harder for him to hold his head high in their circle.

Daniel would also lose his chance to inherit the Taylor family.

The more Jane thought about it, the angrier she got. "Daniel, you need to win Aurora over. You had a relationship before. If you coax her into marrying you, with the Robinson family's support, our days in the Taylor family will be much better."

"Mom, don't worry. I will win Aurora over." Daniel had a determined look. "She's just playing hard to get. I have ways to make her fall in love with me again."

"Daniel, you're amazing. I believe in you." Jane smiled. "Now go. Aurora was wronged last night. You should go comfort her."

Aurora was busy at the hospital all morning, waiting outside the operating room for three hours.

Jack's surgery was very successful, and Aurora finally felt at ease.

Aurora immediately shared the good news with John and sincerely thanked him over the phone. "John, thank you."

If it weren't for the expert John had invited, they wouldn't have had such a good outcome.

John took the opportunity to ask for a reward. "Just a verbal thank you? No other reward?"

Aurora knew exactly what John was thinking.

"What do you want?"

"You should at least treat me to a meal."

Aurora smiled. "Alright, but it will have to wait until Jack is discharged. I still have to go to the office later, so I can't chat now. I'll owe you that meal for now."

"Okay." John didn't push further.

Aurora still had to go to the office in the afternoon, so she ended the call after a brief chat.

As Aurora walked out of the hospital and was about to hail a cab, a black sedan suddenly stopped in front of her, and the window rolled down.

Aurora saw the person inside and was startled, feeling nervous.
