Chapter 375: Being Obsessed With Love And Neglecting One's Career

Oren patiently put everything back in place on the ground. His leg, still unhealed from a burn, caused him to walk with a noticeable limp.

Sandra felt a surge of anger just looking at Oren.

"Get out of my sight, I don't want to see you again."

Back when she was being chased by Lori in the abandoned factory, Sandra crossed the railroad tracks and met Oren, who was there to pick her up, allowing her to escape.

But this still didn't lessen Sandra's disgust towards Oren.

When she found out she was pregnant with Oren's child, her revulsion for him only grew.

Several times, Sandra tried to get rid of the child, but Oren stopped her.

"Ms. Johnson, I know you hate me. Letting me go is impossible, so you have to adapt. I must protect my child. If you dare to harm him, I will make you regret it. If you don't believe me, go ahead and try."

Oren's eyes were sinister, and he was not joking or trying to scare Sandra.

"Oren, you bastard." Sandra raised her hand to hit him in anger.

Oren caught her hand and raised his voice, "Ms. Johnson, you're obsessed with John. Even if you kill Aurora and everyone in the Lewis family, John will never look at you."

Sandra was nearly hysterical, "I don't need him to. Even if he hates me, I want him to remember me forever. If I can't be the love in his heart, then I'll be a thorn in his side, causing him pain."

"Stubborn." Oren took a rope and tied Sandra's hands and feet: "When the child is born, I'll untie you."

"Oren, how dare you imprison me, let me go." Sandra struggled and cursed, "Bastard, let me go. Are you even a man, forcing me to have your child this way? You're dreaming."

Oren walked with a limp, "It's you who needs to wake up from your dream. Without Mr. Johnson, you've become more arrogant and reckless. Now, under your leadership, The Shadow of Darkness organization is falling apart. Everyone is leaving, and it's just an empty shell. Instead of focusing on your career, you're obsessed with a man who doesn't even look at you. You're insane."

"I'm insane, and I like it." Sandra retorted angrily, "Oren, even if you force me to have the child, it won't matter. As soon as I get the chance, I'll strangle him."

"Just try it." Oren's eyes were bloodshot as he pulled out a knife and stabbed it into the bedside table.

Sandra was startled, her heart skipping a beat.

Oren stared at her, "If you dare to hurt my son, I'll cripple you."

Oren knew Sandra's temper. Trying to please her was pointless; no matter what he did, she would never look at him.

Since pleasing her didn't work, he decided to fight fire with fire and scare her into submission.

Sandra swallowed, "Oren, if you want me not to hurt your son, then go kill Aurora for me. If John doesn't want me, then I'll destroy the one he loves and make him suffer for a lifetime. If you do that, I'll give you as many children as you want."

Oren was stunned.

A woman's mood can change like the weather.

"Fine." Oren replied, "This wedding is suspicious. Helen just died, and no matter how eager John and Aurora are, they wouldn't choose this time to get married. This wedding is aimed at you."

Sandra ignored Oren and spoke, "You're just scared. Compared to John, you're not even worth a toe. Silvercrest City has a custom: if a family member dies, and you don't get married within a month, you have to wait three years."

Oren frowned, "I've never heard of that."

Sandra sneered, "You're not from Silvercrest City. Oren, tomorrow, I want to see Aurora's corpse with my own eyes."

Sandra's hatred for Aurora was so intense that it couldn't be dissipated in several lifetimes.

"Fine! I promise you."

Silvercrest City.

The Lewis Villa.

After putting the child to sleep, Aurora didn't see John in the room. She looked around and found him in the backyard.

John was holding a bottle of wine, sitting under the grapevine trellis, drinking alone.

John's head was still bandaged from the injury he got during a fight with mercenaries.

Under the cold moonlight, his figure looked lonely and desolate.

"What's wrong?"

Aurora walked over and sat down next to John.

"Aurora, Mom prepared our wedding. She took care of everything, but she can't see you in your wedding dress."

Helen had been preparing their wedding before she died, handling every detail so they didn't have to worry.

John's eyes were wet. He took a sip of wine, suppressing the sadness in his heart.

Since Helen's death, this was the first time John showed his sadness in front of Aurora.

He was the pillar of the family, supporting both the elders and the children. As a man, he felt he didn't have the right to be sad.

Aurora felt a pang of sorrow: "John!"

She had been with him through thick and thin, from being oppressed by Nicole and Emily and abandoned by Daniel, to now becoming the envy of everyone as Mrs. Lewis. All of this was because of John.

He always gave her sweetness, never letting her taste any bitterness.

He gave her all his trust.

Aurora leaned down, kissed John's forehead, and held his head against her chest: "As long as our family is well, Mom would be happy for us."

John hugged Aurora's waist, took a deep breath, and closed his eyes, enjoying the moment of peace.

But the peace was soon interrupted by a phone call.

It was a call from the Nightfall information department, and John had to answer it. After the call, John's expression became more serious.

Aurora asked, "Honey, what's wrong?"

"Wolfpack has been consolidated."

"Consolidated?"

Aurora was surprised, "Was it Christopher or Robert?"

John shook his head, "Neither. It's someone whose background I can't figure out yet. No one has seen this person's true face, only that they're very young. To consolidate the scattered Wolfpack, this person is not to be underestimated."

John was more worried about who would take over a disbanding Wolfpack.

"Richard won't be coming out this time. Wolfpack's decades of foundation can't be dismantled overnight. Wolfpack is still a piece of meat, and many people want a bite." Aurora held John's arm, "No matter who consolidated Wolfpack, as long as Richard is locked up, it won't affect us."

"Aurora, you're right." John smiled slightly, "Wolfpack has now been renamed Ironclad Union. Maybe, as you said, it's just someone coveting Wolfpack's remaining power. With hundreds or thousands of organizations out there, Ironclad Union won't make a mark anytime soon."
