Chapter 443 John Tests Karolyn

The reflection in the car window was unmistakably Sandra.

John knew Sandra's silhouette well enough to recognize her even through the blurry window.

He quickly turned around. Across the street, a woman in a red trench coat was hurrying into the crowd with an umbrella.

That figure also resembled Karolyn.

Karolyn... Sandra...

John felt something explode in his mind.

"Honey, what are you looking at?" Aurora asked curiously.

"Nothing. I'll take you to the White Villa first," John said, quickly regaining his composure. He got into the driver's seat and started the car.

Aurora glanced in the direction John had been looking, but saw nothing.

At the White Villa.

Jack was tied to a chair. Alexander and Dean had pulled up chairs and were sitting across from him, staring intently.

Jack didn't look good. He had woken up to find himself tied up, with no one willing to untie him.

Samuel was preparing a syringe nearby, ready to give Jack an injection.

Jack struggled and got angry. "What are you guys doing? Why am I tied up? Are you all siding with John now? Helping him against me?"

Alexander snorted. "Jack, you're young but quite capable. Let's see if you can bring out the other personality inside you."

"What other personality? I don't understand," Jack said, looking confused. "Where's Aunt Wendy? I want to see Aunt Wendy."

"She's outside. We didn't let her in because she's too soft-hearted. We won't be so lenient," Alexander said. "You tried to kill Wendy last night. I'm not giving you another chance to get near my wife."

"I would never hurt Aunt Wendy," Jack said, struggling more, which only made the ropes tighter.

Dean added, "Jack, you really did try to kill Wendy last night. It was terrifying. What's happened to you?"

Dean was also scared of Jack and didn't dare look him in the eye.

"Is Aunt Wendy okay? Did anything happen to her?" Jack asked, looking genuinely clueless. "Aunt Wendy has always been so good to me. I would never harm her."

Samuel finished preparing the syringe and approached Jack. "Hold still. I'm going to give you an injection."

"I'm not sick. I don't need an injection," Jack protested, shouting, "Take it away! You're all trying to harm me."

"Hold him down," Samuel signaled to Alexander and Dean.

They immediately held Jack down while Samuel injected him.

At first, Jack struggled, but he gradually calmed down.

"Will this work?" Alexander asked.

Samuel shook his head. "This is a psychological issue. My medication only treats the symptoms, not the cause."

"Then why bother with the medication if it doesn't work?" Alexander complained.

Samuel glared at him. "Do you plan to keep him tied up forever? He has a split personality. If you keep pushing him, you might trigger more personalities and drive him completely insane."

Seeing the argument, Dean quickly intervened. "Mr. Collins said we need to focus on Jack's mental health. Maybe we should try talking to him?"

Jack looked drowsy and out of it.

"I think we should just send him to a mental hospital," Alexander suggested bluntly.

"Alexander, you should stay out of this," Aurora said as she entered the room, with John following behind. They glanced at Jack, and John asked, "What's wrong with him?"

"Just gave him a sedative. He needs to rest," Samuel explained.

Aurora said, "Untie him and let him rest on the bed."

Alexander quickly untied Jack, who stared blankly at the ceiling, making Aurora feel a mix of emotions.

"John, I'll stay here tonight. You go home," Aurora said. "Everyone's here, so don't worry. I need to check on Trey and Jax at home."

John had other matters to attend to and instructed, "Call me if anything happens. Don't get close to Jack alone. Make sure your father is with you."

Alexander was moved to tears, gripping John's hand. "John, despite everything I've said and done, you still call me father-in-law. I'm so happy. Don't worry, no one will touch my daughter while I'm here."

After Aurora had scolded Alexander, his attitude had slowly changed.

John was momentarily taken aback by Alexander's sudden sentimentality but remained composed. "I was referring to the other father-in-law," he said, glancing at Dean.

Alexander's face fell.

Dean, surprised and flattered, said, "John, don't worry. I'll keep an eye on Jack and make sure he doesn't hurt Aurora again."

"Thank you," John said, smiling at Alexander's awkwardness. "I was just joking, father-in-law."

Realizing he'd been tricked, Alexander fumed, "You and Aurora are both so cunning!"

Aurora laughed. "That's what you get for always being so self-righteous."

Samuel added, "Someone needed to put you in your place. This is karma."

Everyone laughed, and after giving his instructions, John left the White Villa.

Instead of going home, John headed to the hospital where Karolyn was staying.

At the hospital, Sam, who had been keeping an eye on Karolyn, reported, "Mr. Lewis, you were right. Karolyn came back just now."

"Good. Keep watching. I'll go see her."

John took the elevator to the seventh floor of the inpatient department.

Karolyn was in room 36, a double room, but she was the only patient there.

John pretended to take a phone call as he walked past Karolyn's room, stopping just far enough away for her to hear him.

After a while, he heard footsteps behind him and ended the call, ready to walk away when Karolyn's voice called out.

"Mr. Lewis, what a coincidence. What are you doing here so late?"

John turned around, staring at Karolyn with a blank expression as if he didn't recognize her.

Karolyn introduced herself, "Mr. Lewis, I'm Karolyn Harrington. We met before when you came to pick up Aurora from work."

"Oh, I remember now," John said coldly. "Sorry, I don't usually pay much attention to other women besides my wife."

Ouch.
