Chapter 91 The Doctor Who Delivered Aurora

It was the first time Summer had called since John left the island.

"Did Summer say what it was about?"

"No," Sam replied. "Maybe you should call Summer back, Mr. Lewis?"

John thought of the kid, a hint of joy on his face. He said to Aurora, "If you're hungry, have some fruit to hold you over. Dinner will be ready soon."

"Okay. You go ahead," Aurora said, not knowing who Summer was.

After John walked away, she asked Sam, "Do you have a brother named Alvin Weaver?"

Sam looked puzzled. "No. Ms. White, why?"

"Sam, Tyler, and now Summer," Aurora said casually, resting her chin on her hand.

Sam chuckled and explained, "Ms. White, you misunderstood. Tyler and I are brothers, but Summer isn't. He's just a four-year-old kid who happens to be named Summer."

"A four-year-old kid?" Aurora asked curiously. "Is he John's illegitimate child? I saw John's fatherly smile just now. He must be John's secret child, right?"

Actually, Aurora wouldn't be surprised if John had a few illegitimate children. Before John got disfigured, with his looks and status, there must have been plenty of women who threw themselves at him. John was in his thirties; it was impossible to have just one woman.

Sam quickly said, "Mr. Lewis definitely doesn't have an illegitimate child, Ms. White. Don't joke about it. The boss doesn't even have a woman, so how could he have an illegitimate child?"

But after saying that, Sam remembered the time five years ago when John was drugged by Wade and ended up sleeping with a woman. They left in a hurry to find Jennifer, and with Jennifer's accident, John was devastated. So many years had passed, and the incident had long been forgotten. The woman who helped John with the antidote was never given much thought. If Aurora hadn't brought it up, Sam would have almost forgotten about it.

"You're really loyal to John," Aurora said with a somewhat creepy smile. John himself had admitted to having an ex-girlfriend, yet Sam was still covering for him.

Just then, Todd arrived and greeted Aurora with a smile, "Ms. White, you're here too. Where's the boss?"

"Over there," Aurora pointed to John, who was on the phone in the side room. "Mr. Smith, you look quite proud. Is there something good happening?"

Todd smiled, "You can't hide anything from you. I recently acquired a famous painting."

Todd suddenly remembered a painting John had taken, saying it was a gift for Aurora, and quickly stopped himself from saying more. He couldn't expose he had another masterpiece, or it might get taken too.

Todd cheerfully changed the subject, "Ms. White, when can we expect to attend your wedding with the boss?"

Ever since John's identity was revealed, Todd had been looking forward to the wedding.

"Stop." Aurora raised her hand, her tone indifferent. "We broke up."

"Still not back together?" Todd muttered. "That's not right. The boss is so inefficient."

Aurora sipped her coffee and asked, "Mr. Smith, when will you bring out that painting for me to admire?"

Todd's heart sank. He couldn't escape it after all.

Todd asked reluctantly, "Ms. White, do you really like it?"

"I do. The artistic conception is far-reaching, and it makes people feel calm."

Todd felt like he'd found his soulmate. "Great minds think alike."

"Todd, next time bring that painting for Aurora," John's voice came from behind.

"Mr. Lewis," Todd looked reluctant.

Aurora gave John a blank stare. "How are you any different from a bandit? This is outright robbery."

Hearing this, Todd nodded eagerly, finally someone voiced his feelings.

But he was happy too soon.

Aurora added, "Mr. Smith, I'll just borrow it to admire for a few days and then return it."

That was no different from a robbery. What if she didn't return it? They really were a perfect match.

John cleared his throat, and Todd sighed resignedly, "I'll go home and get it."

"Mr. Smith, hold on," Aurora stood up. "Can I catch a ride? I need to go to the hospital."

John wasn't happy to hear Aurora was leaving, but he couldn't object when he heard she was going to the hospital. Jack had just had surgery, and it was right for Aurora to visit him.

Todd looked at John for approval. John nodded and then told Aurora, "Call me if you need my help."

"Okay," Aurora waved and left with Todd.

In the car, after driving a while, Todd asked curiously, "Ms. White, you can't stay like this with the boss forever. Isn't it a good thing that your penniless loser boyfriend turned out to be a billionaire?"

"It should be like winning the lottery, but..." Aurora agreed, but her usual confidence wavered.

Aurora smiled faintly. "Mr. Smith, to be honest, I'd rather he was just a regular rideshare driver."

"I understand," Todd said while driving. "With someone of Mr. Lewis's status, the woman with him needs extraordinary tolerance and resilience. Mr. Lewis has many enemies, and there could be danger. Ms. White, I guess you are most concerned about the boss's loyalty, right?"

Aurora froze and smiled lightly, "Mr. Smith, you're very perceptive."

Every word hit the mark.

"Matters of the heart can't be helped by outsiders. Time is the best test," Todd said with a smile. "I'll get to drink your wedding toast sooner or later."

Aurora shrugged. "We'll see."

She didn't reject John in her heart; otherwise, she wouldn't have believed John's nonsense about her sleepwalking into his bed.

Todd dropped Aurora off at the hospital entrance. As she got out, she said, "Mr. Smith, you don't really have to bring me that painting. I was just joking."

A painting worth millions; Aurora wouldn't really take it from him.

Todd smiled, "Ms. White, Thank you for your mercy."

Aurora smiled back and walked towards the inpatient department.

As she got out of the elevator, she suddenly saw an acquaintance. Aurora's heart skipped a beat, and she hurriedly followed a middle-aged woman ahead.

At the staircase corner, Aurora called out, "Dr. Scott."

The woman stopped and turned around. Seeing Aurora, a look of panic and guilt flashed across her face. "Are you Aurora?"

"It's me."

Aurora walked up excitedly. This was the doctor who had delivered her baby. After the birth, all the staff involved in the delivery had resigned. It was Dean's doing. He wouldn't let anyone know his daughter had a child out of wedlock, bringing shame to the family.

Years had passed, and she hadn't expected to meet Dr. Scott here.
