Chapter 288 Lori Lost Again

They were already had four sons and were legally married, so it was indeed time to have a wedding ceremony.

But Aurora felt it was unnecessary.

"Forget it; it's just a formality, too much hassle," Aurora said. "I'm so busy taking care of these two little ones every day that I just want to sleep in and not think about anything."

"Aurora, how can you not have a wedding?" Lori disagreed, "You have to have one, and it has to be grand."

Aurora felt there was a catch with Lori being so enthusiastic.

Then Lori continued, "John, how much are you planning to spend on the wedding? What wedding gifts are you preparing? Do you need my help to plan the whole ceremony?"

When it came to money, John had no say and left it to Aurora to handle.

Aurora smiled and said, "Lori, I've noticed you've gotten a lot smarter lately."

She was eyeing their wedding expenses.

Lori persuaded, "Aurora, you can't skimp on the wedding costs just because you feel bad for John. People don't cherish things that don't cost money, and it's the same with people."

Aurora nodded approvingly. "That makes sense."

Hearing this, Lori got even more excited and said with a greedy smile, "John, you see, Aurora said the wedding must be luxurious."

John and Aurora exchanged glances. Holding Trey, John thought for a moment and said, "Aurora has given me four sons and worked so hard, so I can't shortchange her. The wedding must be meticulously planned and well-arranged, and money is not an issue. Additionally, I'll compensate her with a few hundred million dollars for not being there for her during this time, plus a mansion. Lori, does that sound good?"

"Great, you're so generous," Lori said and smiled, "By the way, a mansion in Silvercrest City cost almost cost a few hundred million dollars, right? John, you're really rich."

John calmly continued drinking his tea, "But my mom is already arranging the wedding, so you don't need to worry about it."

Hearing that she couldn't count on the wedding planning expenses, Lori immediately deflated. She wanted to argue but couldn't since it was being handled by John's mother. Without getting the answer she wanted, Lori went upstairs to sleep, followed by the orange cat she brought back.

Aurora and John exchanged a smile.

"Honey, my mom is taking care of the wedding, so you don't need to do anything. Just wait to be my bride," John said, "My woman should have everything she deserves."

"Whatever you say," Aurora couldn't argue with John. "Just don't pick a date too soon. I haven't gotten my figure back yet, and I don't want to be an ugly bride and embarrass you."

John looked at Aurora lovingly and was about to speak when Aurora interrupted, "Don't say I look beautiful to you no matter what. Everyone knows I can't fit into a wedding dress with my current figure."

John praised her in front of the whole country, so she definitely couldn't embarrass him.

John said, "Whatever you say."

In the following days, John started choosing a wedding date and preparing for the wedding.

Helen's enthusiasm soared upon hearing that the two were planning a wedding. She had been researching wedding ideas for them beforehand, and now she finally had the opportunity to put her plans into action.

Lori really went to sign up for the assessment. When Ava returned from Aetheria and heard Lori was going to work at the police station, she blurted out, "Are you crazy? Do you have a death wish?"

"Ava, why are you saying that too?" Lori sat cross-legged on the bed, propping her chin with her hands. "Do you want to keep doing what we used to do? Wolfpack is finished, and we can't go back. I won't go back. We can't keep doing what we used to do forever. Besides, working at the police station is pretty good, right? We'll have backing."

Ava was surprised that Lori would say such things.

Ava said, "The money in your bank account is enough to last you a lifetime. We've grown accustomed to our freedom. Are you certain you can endure such hardships? You'll have to adhere to a strict schedule, work overtime, be on duty, follow orders, and be constrained by others."

"I made a deal with Mr. Jennings. We can be assigned urgent tasks and only take orders from him. We don't have to follow others' orders or work regular hours like you said. Don't worry; it's just like our usual missions."

Ava had a bad feeling. "Why us?"

Lori chuckled. "I signed you up too."

Lori hugged Ava's neck with a smile. "We agreed to be together for life."

Ava was silent for a few seconds, glanced at Lori, and sighed helplessly. "Can I still refuse?"

"Of course not," Lori laughed.

With Lori and Ava's skills, they passed the assessment smoothly.

Out of the twenty people who took the assessment, only three passed, and two of them were Lori and Ava.

Many men felt ashamed, as they couldn't even compare to women.

Allan personally watched every assessment. He was very satisfied with Lori and Ava's performance and looked at them with admiration.

As time flew by, Aurora had almost recovered. Then Aurora dragged Lori and Sophia to the mall for shopping. Being cooped up at home for so many days was driving Aurora crazy.

Aurora bought herself a lot of things as a reward. Before she left, John gave her a  globally limited credit card with no limit.

John's net worth was even higher than before, although the outside world didn't know he had made a comeback. John's new company hadn't officially launched yet.

In short, John had reshuffled everything while Aurora was resting at home. But his plan this time was risky, and he took a gamble. Fortunately, he won.

Sophia went to the second floor to look at bags, Lori went to the restroom, and Aurora was picking out shoes in the store.

Aurora immediately fixated on a pair and said to the salesperson, "Could you please bring me those white high heels in a size 8 to try on?"

At that moment, a familiar voice came from behind.

"I want those shoes."
