Chapter 77 Mutual Destruction
Emily's legs went weak, and she collapsed to the ground, too scared to speak.
Aurora walked up to Emily and looked down at her. "It's time to settle the score between us."
"Sis, I was wrong." Emily was nearly scared out of her wits, crawling towards Aurora and groveling at her feet. "It was all Mark's idea. It had nothing to do with me. I was just trying to help you by bringing him here."
"Help me?" Aurora sneered coldly. "Your so-called help was to force me to relive the same tragedy I experienced from five years ago. Emily, until today, I hadn't decided how to settle things between us. But now, you've shown me exactly what to do."
"Sis, it was all a misunderstanding. We do have our differences, but what siblings don't?" Emily was trembling, not daring to look at the pool of blood under Mark's unconscious form.
Aurora scoffed. "A misunderstanding? Mark has confessed every detail of how you framed me five years ago."
"That was all Mark's doing. I never told him to do that. I know you were hurt back then, but it wasn't my intention," Emily said, trying to absolve herself of any wrongdoing. "Sis, it's been over five years. Please forgive me. I won't dare to do it again. We are sisters, after all."
"Emily, do you think I will ever forgive you?" Aurora tilted Emily's chin up and added, "I know you resent me and even wish I were dead. If I let you go today, how could I live with myself?"
"Aurora, do you really want to sever our relationship completely? Do you have to go this far?" Emily looked at Aurora, deep hatred in her eyes.
"Isn't our relationship already severed beyond repair?" Aurora sneered. "I've been waiting for this day for a long time."
"Aurora, if you dare to touch me, you'll never find out the whereabouts of that child. Blowing this up won't do you any good either. It's going to be a Pyrrhic victory. You wouldn't be that foolish, would you?"
"Trust me, I'm ready to face whatever consequences that arise, as long as I get my revenge." Aurora's lips curled coldly. "You don't even know the whereabouts of that child, do you?"
Emily indeed didn't know, and neither did Nicole.
"Take her to the police station," Aurora said to the four bodyguards. She then looked at Emily and said, "I consulted a lawyer. You'll be in jail for at least three to five years. Didn't you say you knew you were wrong? You'll have plenty of time to reflect on your mistake in the slammer."
She had already let Emily go once, when they were at the banquet. This time, since Emily had shown no remorse and had intended to harm her again, she wouldn't show any mercy.
"No!" Emily screamed. "Aurora, I'm Percy's daughter. If you dare to send me to the police, you'll offend the Harris family. Can you bear the consequences? Do you really think Kevin will back you up? Who do you think you are? Is Kevin willing to offend the Harris family for you?"
"We'll find out soon enough." Aurora's expression was cold, her tone indifferent and fearless.
Seeing Aurora's calm reaction, Emily panicked. "You knew I was Percy's daughter all along?"
"Do you really think everyone is a fool?" Aurora sneered. "Emily, I want to see how far Percy will go for his illegitimate daughter."
Emily was hysterical. "You're crazy. When everyone finds out you were assaulted five years ago, how good do you think your reputation will be? The image you built at the banquet will collapse, and Kevin might abandon you. What are you trying to achieve by doing this?"
Aurora's actions would cause suffering on both sides.
"You want to know what I'm trying to achieve" Aurora chuckled. "Emily, when someone is pushed to their limit, the consequences of their rebound are unimaginable. For those who have hurt me, I will never show mercy. I just want you to be punished and pay for what you've done."
Emily was stunned.
"Let go of me," Emily struggled, but it was futile. Terrified, she screamed, "My mom and dad won't let you get away with this."
"Oh, right, I almost forgot. Nicole was also an accomplice back then," Aurora took out her phone and handed it to Emily. "Call your mom."
Emily was stunned, not knowing what Aurora intended to do.
Still, she couldn't care less and quickly grabbed the phone to call Nicole. "Mom, help, Aurora wants to hurt me..."
Aurora took the phone back and said, "Nicole, it's time for you and your daughter to reap what you sow."
Nicole, on the other end, was bewildered, but she could hear the panic and fearin Emily's voice.
"Aurora, what have you done to Emily? If you dare to hurt her..."
Aurora hung up on her.
"Take her away," Aurora commandedthe guards coldly, not wasting any more words.
Emily was dragged into the car, and Mark was thrown in as well. Seeing the blood on Mark's lower body, Emily screamed in terror and could only cower in the corner of the car.
Emily yelled out the car window, "Aurora, you're crazy. The Harris family won't let you get away with this. Even if you send me to the police, what can they do to me once Percy steps in? I'll be out in no time."
Aurora stood outside the car, coldly watching Emily. The car started and headed straight to the police station.
Aurora let out a long breath. The bodyguard beside her said, "Miss White, let's get you back home."
Aurora first called Kevin. "Godfather, thank you."
"Aurora, if you need help, just ask," Kevin had no idea why Aurora had requested some bodyguards from him, but he sensed she was in trouble.
"Okay," Aurora said before hanging up.
Meanwhile, Emily's frantic call to Nicole had shattered the peace of the White family.
Nicole hurried downstairs and ran into Dean, who had just returned.
"Aurora is trying to hurt Emily. Emily just called, and something's happened. Quick, find out where Aurora is. If she dares to touch even a single hair on Emily's head, I won't let her get away with it."
Dean had heard that something had happened to Emily, but he didn't react at all. Instead, he angrily slapped Nicole. "You bitch."
Aurora had mentioned that Emily's parentage was questionable, and he had secretly verified it.
Emily was not his daughter at all.
Nicole was stunned by the slap. Holding her cheek, she said, "Dean, are you crazy? Aurora wants to harm Emily. Hurry up and save her. Why did you hit me? If something happens to our daughter, I'll never forgive you."
Nicole was anxious to save Emily and didn't want to argue with Dean. She was about to leave when Dean pulled her back.
"Our daughter? Say that again." Dean threw the paternity test in Nicole's face, furious. "Nicole, you cheated on me, and now it turns out the daughter I've raised for over twenty years isn't even mine."
