Chapter 33 The Company Changed Hands

Aurora was shocked and asked, "The company changed hands?"

The Wilson Group went bankrupt overnight?

There was no news about the Lewis Group planning to acquire it before.

This was too sudden.

"After you left yesterday, Manager Green was thrown out by Ernest. It was so embarrassing," Donna said gleefully, "That's karma for he."

Aurora didn't know what happened afterward, but it was satisfying to hear.

Aurora asked, "Do you know who from the Lewis family is taking over the company?"

"I heard it's Lucas Lewis."

Aurora was surprised. "Isn't he pursuing a career in entertainment and acting?"

Lucas was almost always on the big screen, so Aurora naturally recognized him and knew that Lucas was the youngest son of the Lewis family, John's cousin.

"Acting doesn't interfere with taking over the company. Our company isn't that big, and the Lewis family doesn't lack money. They can play around with it, and even if it fails, it won't matter."

Donna, with girlish fantasies, said, "Did you see the secretarial department today? They all dressed up specially. I heard Lucas is still single. If he notices one of us, it would be a dream come true."

Donna glanced at Aurora and said, "You have a boyfriend, so you can't compete with us."

"Don't worry. I'm not interested in Lucas. He's not my type."

As soon as Aurora finished speaking, a voice suddenly came from behind. "Oh? Then what kind of man are you interested in?"

Aurora was startled and quickly turned around to see Lucas' face right in front of her.

This was too unlucky for Aurora to talk behind Lucas' back and get caught red-handed.

Embarrassed, Aurora wished she could bite her tongue.

Lucas had a mischievous smile on his lips, his eyes fixed on Aurora, and he asked with interest, "Which department are you in?"

Aurora's heart tightened. Did she offend her boss again and risk losing her job?

"The secretarial department," Aurora replied bravely.

Lucas nodded thoughtfully. "I'll remember you."

At that moment, the company's senior executive, Arnold Sanders, came running over with a group of people. "Mr. Lucas Lewis, I'm Arnold Sanders from the sales department."

Arnold had been waiting at the entrance all morning and hadn't noticed how Lucas had come in alone.

Lucas glanced at Aurora and then said to Arnold, "Gather all the employees for a meeting in ten minutes."

With that, Lucas walked away.

If John hadn't dragged him out of bed to take over this company, Lucas would still be sleeping at home.

He had no choice; in the entire Lewis family, he was only afraid of John.

Aurora slumped down in her seat, smiling bitterly. "It seems I'm having a streak of bad luck."

She offended the former boss yesterday and now the current boss today.

Should she resign or not?

It was a tough decision.

Donna also thought Aurora was really unlucky.

"Don't worry. There are so many people in the company. Just stand in the corner later and avoid being noticed by Lucas."

"That's the only option."

Aurora quickly tidied up and headed to the meeting room, where her colleagues were also arriving one after another.

Today, almost everyone was present, with ninety percent of the female employees coming just for Lucas.

Everyone was dressed up, like a beauty pageant.

Aurora deliberately stood in the corner, hidden by a tall colleague. This should be safe.

"Mr. Lucas Lewis, this way."

As Arnold's voice came in, Lucas' figure followed into everyone's view.

Aurora moved a bit further to the side, trying to minimize her presence.

Lucas walked in, glanced around the meeting room, and finally fixed his gaze on Aurora, who was hiding like an ostrich.

To be precise, Lucas only saw half of Aurora's figure.

'This woman is quite interesting.' Lucas thought.

Lucas' lips curled into a mischievous smile, causing the female colleagues in the meeting room to swoon, their eyes filled with joy, and some even excitedly made noises.

"So handsome!"

"Lucas' smile is so charming that my heart is racing."

"Is Lucas smiling at me?"

"What do you mean? You? He's obviously smiling at me."

"Oh my God. Lucas is coming over."

A female colleague bravely and shyly asked, "Lucas, can I have your autograph?"

Lucas smiled warmly, showing his white teeth, looking both sunny and mischievous. "Okay."

Oh my, that smile was a direct hit to the heart, and the female colleague fainted on the spot from excitement.

Arnold immediately had the security guards carry her out.

Lucas, with one hand in his suit pocket, walked gracefully towards the main seat.

Wherever he went, it caused quite a stir.

This wasn't a company executive meeting; it was more like a fan meeting with a celebrity.

Lucas had no experience managing a company and was completely forced by John.

He had learned about the company on the way and didn't know how Ernest had offended John, but the acquisition happened overnight.

It was a quick and ruthless acquisition.

Aurora stayed hidden in the corner, and as soon as the meeting ended, she quickly blended into the crowd and left.

Aurora went to the break room and poured herself a glass of water to calm her nerves.

That was a close call.

"Aurora, you're here." Donna came in excitedly, holding a diary, and said, "See this? It's Lucas' autograph. I'm going to sleep with this diary tonight, so Lucas can visit me in my dreams."

Aurora couldn't help but laugh. "It's just an autograph. Aren't you a bit too old to be fangirling?"

"Can't I dream a little since I can't have him?" Donna rolled her eyes at Aurora. "You wouldn't understand. Your boyfriend is even more handsome than Lucas, so of course, you're not tempted."

"Of course." Aurora said proudly, "No one is more handsome than my boyfriend."

"Stop rubbing it in. You know I'm single, and you're still teasing me. Are you even a friend?"

Aurora smiled and said, "Alright, if I find a good guy, I'll introduce him to you first."

Donna laughed. "Deal."

"Okay." Aurora smiled and said, "By the way, I need to go to the hospital during lunch break. Call me if you need anything."

"No problem." Donna made a gesture.

Aurora planned to visit Jack at the hospital and also look into the relics her mother left behind.

What exactly was in that mahogany box?

The hospital was near the company. As Aurora walked out and was about to hail a cab, she ran into the last person she wanted to see.

Emily got out of a Ferrari, wearing sunglasses, with long hair, a plaid dress, and Martin boots, looking both fresh and a bit sexy.

Seeing Emily, Aurora knew it couldn't be good.

"Aurora." Emily, carrying a gift box, walked over to Aurora with a smile, looking like they were close sisters to anyone who didn't know better.

"Aurora, I've been waiting for you for a while. I bought these skincare products for you. They cost tens of thousands of dollars. You probably haven't used anything this good before. They're really effective. You should try them."

No good deed went unpunished.

Emily's words were full of disdain for Aurora.

Skincare products costing tens of thousands of dollars were too expensive for Aurora and something she had never used, but for Emily, it was nothing.

Emily was reminding her of the vast difference between them, even though they were both daughters of the White family.

Aurora glanced at the gift box and said coldly, "I'm naturally beautiful and don't need these. You should keep them for yourself."

Emily's face turned livid.

Unfortunately, Aurora was telling the truth. In terms of beauty, Emily was far behind Aurora.

Emily's eyes were full of jealousy. She couldn't understand how Aurora's skin was as smooth and fairas porcelain.
