Chapter 183 Not Tempted
"I am... that woman..."
John kept asking, "What about that woman?"
Before he could finish, Jennifer clutched her chest and squatted down, her lips pale. "John, I'm hurt."
The hypnosis had worn off.
Seeing Jennifer in real pain, John quickly scooped her up. "I'll take you to the hospital."
"No need, there's medicine in the room," Jennifer gasped, struggling to breathe.
John hurriedly carried her back to the room and laid her on the bed. "Where's the medicine?"
"In the drawer," Jennifer said, leaning against the headboard, her face pale and sweaty.
John found the medicine in the drawer and handed it to her. "Lie down and rest for a bit."
Jennifer, lips tight with pain, nodded and lay down.
John covered her with a blanket. "When Gary gets back, I'll have him check on you."
"It's a chronic condition that can't be cured," Jennifer suddenly grabbed John's hand, looking at him with tender eyes. "John, I never told you, the heart transplant was successful, but it left me with angina. The doctor said I might not live more than two years, so I ran away to find you."
John's brows furrowed tightly. He gently pulled his hand away and tucked her in. "It's not that serious. If Gary can't fix it, we'll go abroad for treatment."
Hearing this, she had a faint smile on her face. "John, it makes me content just to hear you say that."
"You rest first, and I'll call Gary to consult about your condition."
"John, can you stay with me until I fall asleep?" Jennifer looked at John, her eyes filled with anticipation.
Her pitiful look was hard to refuse, especially since John owed Jennifer a favor.
"Okay." John pulled over a chair and placed it 3 feet away from the bed. "Sleep."
Jennifer looked at John sitting away, her eyes dimmed, but then a hint of joy arose in her heart.
John was now getting closer to her. If she took it slowly, she could hold onto him again.
Jennifer closed her eyes, her face serene. She knew which angle made her look the most beautiful.
Just like now, lying her hands on her cheeks while showing her perfect profile, with a few strands of hair on her face, thick curled eyelashes, and delicate features, it was very attractive.
Jennifer kept a slight smile on her lips, and then secretly pulled the blanket down a bit to reveal her smooth, white shoulder.
Such a sleeping face and posture was filled with temptation.
Being alone in a room with a woman, nine out of ten men would find it hard to resist.
However, the reality was that John, with his arms crossed, was looking out the window, expressionless. All he thought about was whether Aurora had found Dean and how coincident it would be for Dean being kidnapped.
A pregnant woman was not to be messed with. When Aurora came back, she would definitely be mad at him about Dean, and he had to think of a way to appease her.
Being a man was not easy.
Being a soon-to-be father was also not easy.
Aurora liked to eat, so maybe he should start with food? Have the kitchen make more delicious dishes? Or should he cook himself to show more sincerity?
Though not sensing any movement for a long time, Jenny didn't dare open her eyes to see what John was doing. So she pretended to be asleep soundly and turned over, kicking off the blanket as she acted as if she was very hot..
Meanwhile, she mumbled with eyes closed as if she was dreaming, "Hot."
Jennifer had a great figure, with curves in all the right places. Her long legs draped over the blanket, very enticing.
Seeing Jennifer kick off the blanket and complain about the heat, John went to the cabinet to pick up the air conditioner remote, and lowered the room temperature.
The central air conditioning kicked in, and within seconds, cool air was blowing down. Jennifer shivered from the cold but had to grit her teeth, not daring to let John find out she was pretending to sleep.
Seeing Jennifer truly asleep, John put down the remote and quietly left the room, closing the door behind him. Time to hit the kitchen and whip up something delicious for Aurora. Keeping his wife happy was top priority.
Hearing the door close, Jennifer was fuming.
She had tried so hard to seduce him, yet John didn't even flinch?
With the cold air blowing, Jennifer quickly wrapped herself in the blanket, not daring to turn off the air conditioner in case John came back in.
It must be that John felt sorry for her being sick, so he held back from touching her.
Yeah, that had to be it.
Jennifer comforted herself with this excuse when Sandra called.
"Jennifer, I've had Dean dumped in Westvale. Aurora will definitely go there. Do you want me to have someone teach Aurora a lesson?"
"No need," Jennifer frowned. "John just used hypnosis on me. He must be suspicious. Now that he's back, my goal is achieved. Don't do anything to arouse his suspicion."
"Okay," Sandra reminded over the phone, "Jennifer, don't underestimate Aurora. Many have failed against her before."
"Aurora is indeed not easy to deal with," Jennifer was a bit exasperated. "She trusts John too much. It's really hard to drive a wedge between them. Make sure everything is cleaned up; don't let John trace it back to us."
"Don't worry, Jennifer; I've taken care of everything."
"That's good."
Westvale.
After finding Dean, Aurora almost burst into laughter.
The kidnappers had really outdone themselves. They stripped Dean of all his clothes except for his boxers.
The evening temperature had dropped, and it was quite cold. Dean was shivering, curled up in a pile of grass, looking very pathetic.
Aurora had been quite anxious, but seeing Dean like this, she felt her mood suddenly improve.
"Hey, Dean, it looks like you weren't robbed for money, but for your looks. Lucky you," Aurora teased. "Was the person good-looking? If she was pretty, you didn't lose out."
Dean's face turned red with embarrassment. "Stop laughing and get me some clothes. I'm freezing."
"How was I supposed to know you'd be stripped? I didn't bring any clothes," Aurora looked in the car and indeed found none. She then took off her red women's coat. "Do you want it or not? This is all I have."
Dean covered his chest. "How can I wear women's clothes?"
"Then there's nothing I can do," Aurora shrugged. "You'll have to go back like this. If you run into someone you know on the way..."
"Give me the coat, and I'll wear it."
Wearing women's clothes was better than going back naked.
Aurora threw the coat to Dean. After he put it on, she couldn't help but laugh again.
Dean was of average height and appearance with a bit of a bald head, and he had gained quite a bit of weight over the years. So wearing a bright red women's coat with a belt made him look particularly comical.
"Let's go, take me back quickly," Dean covered his face and got in the car.
After Dean got in, Aurora, after having laughed enough, also got in. "Dean, what happened today? Did you see who kidnapped you?"
"No, I was out with my girlfriend and got kidnapped halfway," Dean still felt quite scared. "The woman was wearing a mask, and I couldn't recognize her, but judging by her figure and voice, she was definitely a beauty."
Aurora's heart tightened. "What kind of mask?"
"A fox mask."
A fox mask?
Didn't Todd say Jennifer hadn't gone out?
Could she have been wrong? Jennifer wasn't Fox from The Shadow of Darkness organization?
Or maybe, there was more than one Fox?
