Chapter 79 John Wished He Could Kill Himself
Aurora's message was quite clear.
A settlement was out of the question.
Otherwise, why would she bring the guy to the police department?
Chief Perez hesitated. "Miss White, I'm thinking about your reputation here. If you want to press charges, that's your right."
"Thanks for your concern, Chief Perez," Aurora replied coolly. "Let's go ahead with legal action. My lawyer will handle the rest."
Chief Perez thought momentarily and asked, "Miss White, does Mr. Robinson know about tonight's incident?"
He wanted to gauge Kevin's stance before deciding how to proceed.
So sly.
Aurora was about to respond when Chief Perez's phone rang. It was an unknown number. After Perez answered it, his expression changed completely.
"Yes, Mr. Robinson, don't worry, I know what to do."
The call was from Kevin.
Kevin didn't know what had happened to Aurora earlier, but he got worried and asked the people assigned to her, realizing things had escalated.
Since Aurora wanted justice, he wouldn't stand in her way.
Kevin stepped in, not because of John's influence this time, but out of personal concern. He wanted to help Aurora.
After hanging up, Chief Perez smiled at Aurora and said, "Miss White, rest assured. We'll handle this fairly and justly."
Emily had just moved out of Percy, but there was no sign of him. Emily wasn't even connected to Percy; why would he get involved?
Aurora had the backing of the Robinson family, which was confirmed now that Kevin had called. Chief Perez quickly began to handle the situation.
Aurora frowned. At that moment, she understood what it meant to have immense power.
With her own efforts alone, she couldn't seek justice. In the end, she still had to rely on the Robinson family's influence.
Kevin was willing to help, and Aurora was very touched, but she wouldn't exploit the Robinson family.
Aurora sent Kevin a message: [Emily is Percy's illegitimate daughter].
Aurora told Kevin this secret to let him weigh the situation and not offend the Harris family for her sake.
Inside the Robinson family.
Kevin paced back and forth in the study. Aurora's message made him realize the seriousness of the situation.
Ashley brought in a late-night snack and said, "Loren just came back with Leo, but Aurora didn't return. Loren, my eyelid keeps twitching; I feel like something is going to happen."
"Something is really going to happen."
Kevin looked serious, staring out the window. "Aurora and Emily have completely torn things apart and ended up at the police station."
"What?" Ashley was shocked and put down the snack. "What happened? How did it end up at the police department? Is Aurora okay? Get to the police station and bring Aurora back."
"This situation isn't that simple this time," Kevin said. "Emily tried to have someone assault Aurora tonight. Aurora borrowed some people from me to help, not only did she put an end to the man but also took Emily to the police station."
"Such a significant event has occurred. Why didn't you tell me earlier? Did Aurora get hurt?" Ashley was only concerned about Aurora's safety.
"Aurora is fine."
Ashley breathed a sigh of relief, then angrily said, "Good job. How could Emily be so vicious? They're sisters, after all. Spreading rumors at the party was bad enough, but now, she's doing something so despicable."
Ashley felt sorry for Aurora. Even with the Robinson family backing her, Emily still bullied Aurora so shamelessly. She couldn't imagine what kind of life Aurora had in the White family before. Wouldn't she have been bullied so terribly?
"This is indeed quite sinister," Kevin said, sitting down. "Emily has the backing of not only the Taylor family but also the Harris family, no wonder she's arrogant."
Ashley was confused. "The Harris family? What's their involvement?"
"Aurora just texted me. Emily is Percy's illegitimate daughter. If Emily gets detained, Percy won't just sit back."
"What?" Ashley was momentarily shocked, then sneered. "What's so special about the Harris family? Do they think the Robinson family is a pushover? Besides, doesn't Aurora have other support?"
Kevin had thought of that too, but there had been no news since John got into trouble.
"The Lewis family might not even know about tonight's incident."
"Then just tell John," Ashley snorted. "I support Aurora in this. A woman's reputation is crucial. Even if it wasn't successful, it's still attempted rape, which carries a sentence of two to ten years. I didn't like Emily at the last banquet, and if this incident blows up, so be it. She deserves it."
Was the Robinson family afraid of trouble?
Other than the Lewis family, Kevin feared no one. Others might fear him, but he had no one to fear.
The question was whether it was worth it and if they could bear the cost.
If it came to a full confrontation with the Harris family, the Robinson family wouldn't come out unscathed, but they couldn't afford to lose their momentum.
Kevin pondered and said, "I'll contact him first."
Tonight was destined to be a sleepless night.
The news of Emily being taken to the police department quickly reached the Taylor family.
Daniel was baffled when he learned that Emily had been sent in by Aurora and quickly sent someone to the police department to investigate.
Daniel soon figured out what had happened.
"Idiot," Daniel swore angrily.
How did he end up marrying such a foolish woman?
Jane passed by the door and saw Daniel so furious. She asked, "Daniel, what's going on? Where's your wife? Why isn't she back yet? You need to keep Emily in line; she's always embarrassing me."
Her tone made it clear how dissatisfied Jane was with Emily.
"This time, Emily really messed up," Daniel said, frustrated, sitting on the couch. "That stupid woman tried to have someone assault Aurora and now she's been taken to the police department. The police even called the house."
"What?" Jane exclaimed, furious. "Daniel, does your father know about this? Don't let anyone else find out, or the consequences will be worse. I wanted a daughter-in-law to support you, but Emily is useless. She couldn't handle the Harris family and caused as much trouble as she could. Daniel, you can't get involved in this. If you offend the Robinson family, we're doomed."
"I know what I'm doing," Daniel said. "Mom, I need to go out for a bit. Maybe this isn't all bad. If the Harris family doesn't step in, we can discard Emily as a pawn."
"You're so smart," Jane said. "If Emily hadn't claimed to be Percy's illegitimate daughter and said she could help you, I wouldn't have accepted her as a daughter-in-law. If Aurora had married you, you'd have secured the inheritance by now."
Daniel regretted it too.
"Mom, go check on Dad. Call me if anything happens."
With that, Daniel hurried out.
John had just returned from the island and hadn't had a chance to find Aurora when Kevin approached him.
When John learned that Aurora was in trouble, his face darkened. He immediately sent Todd to the police department while he went to find Aurora.
Emily deserved whatever she got, but John's main concern was Aurora.
Aurora hadn't returned to the Robinson family or the White family. She was handling this alone. Such a big incident had happened, and John only found out now. He wanted to slap himself for not being there when Aurora needed him most.
Sam pinpointed Aurora's location within three minutes, and John headed there immediately.
