Chapter 369: Wedding and Funeral Held Together
Hearing that, Lori turned around to see Allan approaching.
"Mr. Jennings."
Under the cold moonlight, Allan's figure was elongated, tall, handsome, and full of masculinity. The phrase "tough guy" fit Allan perfectly.
"Where is she?" Allan glanced around.
"She ran away," Lori said dejectedly. "Mr. Jennings, it's not my fault. She ran straight onto the railroad tracks without a second thought. Her life might not mean much to her, but mine does. I'm not about to risk my life for her who doesn't value hers."
What kind of logic is that?
"Lori, if..."
"Not eliminating the threat completely will bring trouble sooner or later," Lori finished Allan's sentence. She pinched her ear and said, "I've heard it a million times."
"But you never seem to take it to heart," Allan sighed, with a barely noticeable indulgence in his tone. He looked into the endless darkness and asked, "Lori, have you reconsidered joining the police force to help me?"
"No way!" Lori refused flatly, raising her hand. "Mr. Jennings, let's drop this topic. Ava just got out, and we both want to live a few more years."
"I can guarantee your safety."
"You said that before," Lori rolled her eyes, "There may be a lot of handsome guys in the police force with six-pack abs and deep V-lines, which is very tempting, but my life is more important."
Lori did miss the days of watching handsome guys from the window, it was quite carefree.
Allan knew Lori's nature and changed the subject, asking, "What about the thing I asked you to consider last time?"
"What thing?" Lori's mind went blank for a moment, she really didn't remember.
Allan felt a bit frustrated. Was his confession not obvious enough?
"Lori, about whether I like men or women, you can find out for yourself..."
"Damn." Lori suddenly remembered something and looked at Allan with a particularly guilty expression. "Mr. Jennings, I really didn't mean to..."
Lori thought of her affair with Todd, wasn't she just stealing Allan's lover?
Before Lori could finish, John walked over. "Lori."
"John." Lori saw John. She apologized, "John, sorry, I didn't catch her."
"No worries," John said. "Aurora was worried about you and asked me to check on you."
Sandra would be caught sooner or later, and Lori was safe, which would give Aurora peace of mind.
Bringing Jax back safely tonight was largely thanks to Lori.
"Is it over?" Lori glanced at the factory, where police cars were escorting people into the vehicles.
The members of The Shadow of Darkness organization were all being taken away. A female officer walked up to Allan. "Captain, we can wrap it up."
"Alright, back to the station." Allan walked over to Lori and said in a moderate tone, "Tomorrow night at seven, Rose Restaurant."
What?
Lori was stunned. Was he asking her out for dinner?
Why would he ask her out for dinner out of the blue?
Allan left after saying that, leaving Lori puzzled.
John gave Lori a meaningful look and spoke, "There aren't enough cars, you can ride with Todd."
"Todd is here? Where?" Lori instinctively looked around. This was definitely not a pleasant surprise, but a guilty conscience.
She didn't even realize her own guilty conscience, feeling like she was betraying on Todd.
A car by the roadside flashed its hazard lights, as if calling out to Lori.
Everyone gradually drove away. John naturally rode with Aurora, taking Calla along.
Lori was left alone.
She had no choice but to walk towards Todd's car.
Todd was sitting in the back seat with a sullen face, like someone owed him a fortune.
Lori opened the car door and got in. Before she could speak, Todd said coldly, "Take off the mask, it's annoying."
"Can you think before you speak?" Lori was furious, her anger rising, ready to slap Todd.
He had some nerve.
Daring to say she was annoying.
This time, Todd didn't back down and asked coldly, "When am I moving in?"
Lori was stunned.
She was usually the one who didn't play by the rules. What was wrong with Todd today? Why was he being so sarcastic?
"The moon looks pretty nice tonight, round and bright," Lori looked out the car window to change the subject. "It looks like a big pancake, making me a bit hungry."
"What were you talking about with Allan just now?"
Todd asked his second question.
Lori couldn't take it anymore. "What's wrong with you today? Why are you being so sarcastic? Todd, I never said I wouldn't take responsibility for you, but I can't help looking at handsome guys. It's just who I am. Mr. Jennings just invited me to dinner at Rose Restaurant tomorrow night and chatted with me a bit more. Are you jealous?"
The implication was that she might be flirtatious, but at least she's honest about it.
"You two are planning a date behind my back?"
"It's not a date, it's just dinner," Lori patted Todd's shoulder, "Todd, I need to be honest with you. I'm a bit flirtatious and have no resistance to handsome guys. I don't plan to resist either. I might fall for some handsome guy one day. You need to be tolerant, accept everything..."
Todd's mouth twitched. "Tolerance?"
No resistance to handsome guys?
Not planning to resist?
This sounded so irresponsible.
Lori had a heart that wanted to flirt with multiple men, to care for all the handsome guys in the world, and give each one a warm home?
Lori comforted him, "Don't worry, your position is unshakable. As long as you don't break the seven major principles, I won't dump you."
"There are seven major principles?"
"Of course, I'll list them for you later," Lori yawned and replied, "Think it over. If you can't accept it, I won't force you to move in. I'll take a nap, wake me up when we arrive."
Todd was stunned.
The Lewis Villa.
Jax's safe return was overjoyed by Jax's safe return.
Aurora was mourning in front of Helen's portrait. Helen's tragic death was a pain for the entire Lewis family.
Aurora put Jax to sleep on the bed. She glanced at John smoking on the balcony, walked over, and hugged his waist. "Honey!"
She could feel John's sadness. The murderer had escaped, and they couldn't give Helen a proper closure.
John finished his cigarette, turned around, and said, "Aurora, let's move our wedding up to next Saturday."
Aurora was shocked. "Mom just passed away.Isn't it inappropriate for a wedding?"
John's deep eyes narrowed slightly. "We'll use the wedding as bait to lure Sandra out. I'll have Nightfall spread the word. Once the gang hears about it, the news will naturally reach Sandra. That day will be both our wedding and my mom's funeral. We'll use Sandra to honor her."
