Chapter 411 Met Black Hawk
The hotel owner wasn't lying.
He was naturally timid and didn't want to get involved in other people's business. Those two looked like trouble, and he didn't want to risk his own neck for them.
He only got one life, so he wasn't about to play hero.
Ava said, "They probably haven't gone far. Let's go after them first and deal with this guy later."
Even if it hadn't been long, in this age of fast transportation, a few minutes could make finding someone like searching for a needle in a haystack.
Lori and Ava rented a car to chase them down, but after half a day, they still hadn't caught up.
"Damn it!"
Lori cursed, "They went after my cousin while we weren't around. They must know us well. They know we're together."
With this reminder, Ava said, "The Ironclad Union just attacked Nightfall. That hotel is the closest to the beach. Could the Ironclad Union have taken your cousin?"
Lori slapped her thigh, "That's bad. We need to call John right away."
When Lori called, John was feeding Jax formula. He glanced at the caller ID and didn't pick up.
He didn't need to guess; Lori was calling about Aurora, probably to try to reconcile.
As for Aurora's safety, with Lori and Ava around, John wasn't worried.
When he didn't answer, Lori kept calling.
After several calls, Todd, who had been pretending to pass by the door a few times, couldn't hold back anymore and walked in. "John, Lori's calling. Let me answer it for you."
When Todd answered, Lori was frantic, "John, my cousin's been kidnapped."
Todd's expression turned serious. "John, Aurora's in trouble. Lori says Aurora's been taken."
John paused his feeding, then said nonchalantly, "Tell Lori to stop playing games. Tell Aurora that once things are settled on the island, I'll return to Silvercrest City and see her in court."
Todd had the phone on speaker.
Lori heard John's words loud and clear.
Lori was furious and shouted into the phone, "John, I don't care how long you stay mad at my cousin, just make sure you don't regret it."
Then she hung up.
"I'm so mad, so mad."
Lori was fuming, waving her hand to cool down. "John thinks I'm lying. If anything happens to my cousin, he'll regret it."
Lori's final shout was so loud it nearly deafened Todd.
Todd instinctively held the phone away. Even after the call ended, Lori's voice seemed to echo in the room.
The air suddenly felt tense. John's face darkened. After a few seconds, he handed Jax to Todd and took the phone. "Take care of Trey and Jax."
With that, he left decisively.
Todd sighed and muttered, "What are you two fighting about?"
John went to the information room, immediately opened his computer, logged into an account, and started typing rapidly. He was trying to locate Aurora.
She was off the grid.
...
Aurora had been knocked out and taken away, first by car, then by plane.
When she woke up, she was at the Wolfpack headquarters, now the Ironclad Union headquarters.
Aurora had been here before and was somewhat familiar with it.
She wasn't tied up, and aside from being restricted in movement, she hadn't been harmed.
Oddly, the Ironclad Union was treating her well, providing good food and drink.
Aurora remembered John saying the current leader of the Ironclad Union was Black Hawk.
Why had Black Hawk captured her?
To threaten John?
Aurora opened the door, wanting to take a walk, but the guards stopped her.
"Ms. White, please stay in the room. If you need anything, just let us know."
Aurora said, "I want to see your leader."
As soon as she spoke, urgent footsteps and voices came from downstairs.
"Black Hawk's lost a lot of blood. He's seriously injured. Doctor, hurry."
Black Hawk was injured?
Aurora frowned and glanced toward the source of the noise. Three people hurried upstairs.
Could Black Hawk be living upstairs?
Thinking that Jack might have been killed by the Ironclad Union, Aurora started to get friendly with the guards.
"Are you new here? I don't remember seeing you when I was the leader of Wolfpack."
One of them scoffed, "Most of the old Wolfpack members left. Ironclad Union has brought in fresh blood. We're going to surpass Nightfall and become legendary."
Ironclad Union was really going head-to-head with Nightfall.
Aurora suddenly became very curious about Black Hawk.
The other guard said, "Black Hawk said Ms. White is too cunning, skilled at psychological tactics. He didn't trust the old Wolfpack members to guard her, so he assigned his most trusted men."
These two clearly idolized Black Hawk.
Aurora was cautious. She hadn't dealt with Black Hawk before, but he seemed to know her well.
Was he someone familiar?
Aurora was escorted back to her room.
For the next few days, the guards only brought her food, drinks, and necessities, without speaking to her.
Aurora grew anxious. It had been so long, and Lori and Ava hadn't found her?
John must have been notified by Lori, but there was no response.
She couldn't understand the situation.
On the seventh day of her captivity, as Aurora was planning her escape, the door suddenly opened, and a man in a wheelchair appeared.
The man wore black clothes and a mask, his frame thin, with amber eyes visible beneath the mask.
He didn't exude any menace.
Aurora watched him warily. "Are you Black Hawk?"
The group behind him stood respectfully, clearly indicating his high status.
The man nodded, his voice hoarse, "Don't be afraid. As long as you stay here quietly, no one will harm you."
Black Hawk's voice was weak, lacking energy.
Aurora recalled hearing that Black Hawk had lost a lot of blood, likely related to his current state.
"At least tell me why you captured me," Aurora demanded coldly. "Did you kill Jack?"
Black Hawk sneered, "Jack was a fool. Touching him would dirty my hands."
"If it wasn't you, then who? What did you do to Jack to make him cooperate and bring you information?" Aurora continued to question. "You must have threatened Jack. When your men were wiped out, you killed Jack out of anger, didn't you?"
"Ms. White, that was John's territory," Black Hawk said with a cold smile, sitting in his wheelchair without approaching Aurora, his voice harsh. "We did ask Jack to bring us information, but the useless idiot gave us a fake map. None of my men returned from verifying it. I thought John had dealt with Jack, too. If I were John, I'd kill anyone who betrayed me."
