Chapter 28 Huge Blow
"You're the one who should be kicked out," Aurora sneered. "Manager Green, do you think no one knows about your kickbacks just because you used this year's funds to cover last year's accounts? What do you think will happen to you if the big boss finds out?"
Aurora's voice dropped so low that only Joe could hear the rest.
Joe's face turned pale. "You're talking nonsense."
"What are you all standing around for?"
A commanding voice cut through the crowd, which parted to make way for a middle-aged man accompanied by several high-ranking executives. Nancy was also by his side.
Joe immediately changed his demeanor and accused, "Mr. Wilson, Aurora skipped work without reason, causing Mr. Perry from Starlight Group to cancel our collaboration. Instead of admitting her mistake, she's shirking responsibility."
This man was none other than the Wilson Group's big boss, Ernest Wilson.
Helen had seen him at a party before. Others might not recognize Helen, but Ernest certainly did.
To avoid exposing herself and causing trouble for John, Helen quietly slipped out of the crowd and quickly called John. "John, Aurora is being bullied. Come quickly!"
Because of Joe's words, Ernest's sharp gaze turned to Aurora. "Which department are you from?"
"Mr. Wilson, I'm from the secretarial department," Aurora replied calmly, "Manager Green's accusations are completely unfounded. I took a half-day leave from the HR department and did not skip work without reason."
Joe added fuel to the fire. "I checked with HR, and there's no record of your leave. I told you yesterday that Mr. Perry would be here today and that you needed to have the documents translated and ready. Because of your mistake, Mr. Perry left in anger. Who will bear the company's loss?"
Nancy, clinging to Ernest's arm, also fanned the flames. "Dad, this isn't the first time Aurora has been negligent. I think we should get rid of such irresponsible employees."
This was personal revenge.
"I had the documents ready yesterday," Aurora said, looking at Donna. She had given the documents to Donna the day before.
Donna quickly confirmed, "Yes, Aurora did have everything ready and asked me to hand it over to Manager Green. I did so yesterday."
"I didn't receive it," Joe questioned Donna. "Did you hand it to me directly?"
"No," Donna shook her head. "I left it on your desk and sent you a message because you weren't there."
"I never received any message," Joe said harshly, "Aurora, you're really good at making excuses to shirk responsibility."
Aurora stared at Joe's deceitful face and understood everything.
Joe was determined to frame her, and nothing she said would help.
Moreover, she couldn't publicly accuse him of taking kickbacks; it was a taboo in the industry. If she exposed Joe, no company would dare hire her in the future.
Joe's confidence came from Nancy's backing.
Even if there were rumors of problems between Joe and Nancy, they would still present a united front in this situation.
After all, it was Aurora who offended Nancy last time.
Looking at Ernest, Aurora said frankly, "Mr. Wilson, I'm not shirking responsibility. You can investigate with the HR department."
Donna also spoke up for Aurora, "Mr. Wilson, Aurora has been with the Wilson Group for two years and has always been diligent. Even if she hasn't achieved much, she's worked hard."
Ernest's face darkened. "The Wilson Group doesn't need hard workers; it needs results. Aurora, go to HR, settle your wages, and leave."
An employee with no personal ties couldn't compare to his own daughter.
The moment Ernest appeared, Aurora knew her fate was sealed.
She had offended Nancy before, and it was surprising she had lasted this long in the Wilson Group.
During this time, Aurora had been walking on eggshells.
But firing Aurora without cause? That wouldn't be easy.
Hearing Ernest's decision to fire Aurora, Joe and Nancy smiled triumphantly while other employees gossiped.
Some felt sorry for Aurora, while others thought she was overestimating herself.
As Ernest was about to leave, Aurora spoke up, "Mr. Wilson, I signed a five-year labor contract with the Wilson Group. If you fire me without cause, you need to pay me triple compensation and at least six months' salary as per the contract."
The room fell so silent thata pin drop could be heard .
Other employees thought, 'Was Aurora crazy?'
'Challenging the big boss?'
'Demanding compensation?'
'Crazy. She's absolutely crazy.'
Nancy was also shocked and said in a sharp voice, "Aurora, are you out of your mind? Why do you think you deserve triple salary? This company belongs to my dad, who could fire someone at his will. Who do you think you are? Last time, you tried to pass off a fake bracelet. You're just a vain woman full of lies. Dad, fire her now."
Joe chimed in. "Aurora, if you want to keep working in this industry, you'd better leave quietly. If you make a scene, you won't be able to stay in Silvercrest City."
Aurora smirked, ignoring Joe and Nancy, and looked at Ernest. "Mr. Wilson, what do you think? Are you going to ignore the labor contract?"
"You're quite the talker," Ernest said, laughing angrily. "This is my company. What? I can't even fire someone?"
"Of course, if Mr. Wilson doesn't want to pay my girlfriend compensation, then you'll have to compensate with something else."
That voice?
Aurora turned around in surprise, her eyes asking, 'Why are you here?'
Helen, seeing John arrive, breathed a sigh of relief. 'Let John teach Ernest a lesson for bullying Aurora.'
Everyone turned to look in the direction the voice came. John, in a custom-tailored suit, walked in with an imposing presence. His chiseled features were cold, and he exuded an aura of dominance.
Many female colleagues blushed, thinking he was incredibly handsome and cool.
Even Nancy was mesmerized, her face showing girlish fantasies.
John walked up to Aurora, his gaze softening only when he looked at her. "Go rest for a bit. I'll handle the rest."
At that moment, Aurora felt that John's words had a magical power. She nodded instinctively. "Okay."
She trusted and relied on John unconditionally.
This scene made many women envious.
Aurora was so lucky to have such a handsome boyfriend.
Nancy's eyes burned with jealousy. Looking at Aurora's boyfriend and then at Joe, she felt Joe was nothing in comparison. She realized her judgment had been poor.
Joe noticed Nancy's change in attitude and felt uneasy. John's presence made even the men feel inferior.
Ernest was also taken aback by John's aura. He had been in the business world for decades and had rarely encountered someone with such a strong presence.
John's cold gaze swept over Ernest, and he smirked. "Mr. Wilson, will you pay triple compensation or something else?"
Ernest snapped back to reality, realizing he had been intimidated by a young man. This was his territory, and with so many employees watching, he couldn't back down.
Ernest, furious, said, "Aurora skipped work without reason, causing significant losses to the company. Forget compensation; she won't get a penny. She'll also have to bear the company's losses. My lawyer will send you a letter."
His words were full of confidence.
John smirked and said meaningfully, "Mr. Wilson, you have indeed suffered significant losses."
Firing Aurora would be the company's biggest loss.
But Ernest hadn't realized that yet.
John walked up to Ernest and suddenly grabbed his collar.
Everyone gasped.
Aurora thought, 'Was John going to beat Ernest?'
John had previously beaten Leo. Aurora quickly intervened. "John."
Aurora didn't know that this name was a huge blow to Ernest.
'John?'
'The head of the Lewis family?'
Ernest was too shocked to react.
'Isn't there a rumor that John is disfigured and crippled?'
John didn't hit Ernest. He whispered something in Ernest's ear that no one else could hear. Ernest's face turned ashen.
When John let Ernest go, Ernest's legs gave out, and he collapsed to the ground.
