Chapter 117 Aurora's Position Solidified
Aurora suddenly got why Todd had warned her to brace herself and tried to stop her from entering the hall.
John's ex-wife was back and pregnant.
No wonder the whole Lewis family was on edge.
Aurora's arrival made Lloyd and Helen feel awkward. They'd just accepted Aurora, and now the ex-wife shows up pregnant, complicating things.
After all, Jane was carrying a Lewis family baby.
Summer glanced at Jane, clearly not a fan, then turned to Aurora. "Aunt White, let's go see Boss Lewis."
Todd quickly agreed, "Yeah, Ms. White, let's head upstairs."
With the whole family there, Todd didn't want Aurora to feel uncomfortable.
Helen added, "James, take Ms. White upstairs and treat her well."
Helen genuinely liked Aurora.
Before Aurora could go upstairs, Jane, touching her belly, asked, "Mom, who is she?"
Helen felt super awkward. Jane calling her "Mom" made her identity clear to everyone.
Jane was John's legitimate wife.
"This is..." Helen stammered, unsure what to say.
Just then, a deep voice came from the stairs.
"She's the future mistress of the Lewis family."
It was John.
Everyone turned to see John in his wheelchair.
Lucas pushed John over, and Lloyd nervously said, "John, you're not well; why come downstairs?"
"Grandpa, I'm fine," John said, but coughed a few times on purpose.
This cough made everyone in the family exchange looks.
It seemed John didn't have much time left.
Rex and his son exchanged a pleased glance.
"John." Jane walked towards him, looking concerned. "I heard you were sick, so I rushed back."
John ignored Jane and beckoned Aurora. "Aurora, come here."
Jane stood there, blushing and unsure what to do.
Aurora glanced at Jane, walked to John, covered him with a blanket, and played along. "Is it getting worse?"
Aurora didn't ask about Jane's pregnancy; she trusted John to explain.
Plus, as just a girlfriend, she wasn't in a position to ask. Jane was the wife John had married.
"Don't worry, it's nothing." John grabbed Aurora's hand and winked.
Aurora got the hint and stood by his side.
Wade smiled and said, "Brother, sister-in-law is here; you got the wrong person. This is the real sister-in-law, the mistress of our family."
Wade pulled Jane in front of John. "Brother, look; she's over four months pregnant. Our family is having a baby again."
"Honey," Jane said softly, glowing with maternal pride. "Our baby is healthy. Feel it; it's already moving."
Sitting on the sofa, Rex congratulated, "Congrats, Nephew. You have an heir now."
Others chimed in.
"Yes, seeing John has an heir, we're relieved."
"Take care of your health, Nephew; don't worry about anything else."
"But the company can't be without a leader for a day."
They got to the point quickly.
Aurora looked at the Lewis family members who couldn't wait for John to die and sneered inwardly. All of them were family, but for power and status, they'd lost all affection.
John coughed a few times and said, "What you're saying is reasonable, Uncles, but no need to worry; during my recovery, someone will manage the company."
Wade couldn't wait to ask, "Who?"
Everyone looked at John, guessing who it might be.
John held Aurora's hand and announced, "While I'm recovering, Aurora will handle all company matters."
The hall erupted.
"Nephew, are you crazy? How can you let an outsider manage the company?"
"Exactly, what can a woman do?"
"Is this a joke?"
"Handing over the Lewis family's billion-dollar business to an outsider woman is absurd."
"Yes, I don't agree."
"Neither do I."
Mr. Lewis and Helen were shocked but stayed silent.
Aurora was stunned too; she didn't feel capable of running such a large enterprise. John had signaled her to stay quiet earlier, but she hadn't expected this.
John's expression darkened, and he shouted, "What, am I not dead yet, and I, the head of the Lewis family, can't make decisions anymore?"
His cold gaze swept the room. "Aurora is the future mistress of the Lewis family, and she's qualified to take over the company. If anyone disagrees, they can leave and be removed from the family genealogy."
John's aura was intense, his gaze cold and sharp, making everyone afraid to look at him.
Hearing that troublemakers would be removed from the genealogy, the loudest complainers immediately shut up. John still had the authority to remove them, and being kicked out of the family meant losing their wealth and comfort.
Wade and his son were resentful but stayed quiet.
"Brother, when sister-in-law wasn't back, we had no issue with you being with Ms. White, but now that Jane is back and pregnant, she should be the mistress, not Ms. White," Wade said.
John gave Jane a cold look. "Do you want to be the mistress of the Lewis family?"
Jane felt a chill under John's gaze and said timidly, "No, I've been gone so long, and now that you're with Ms. White, I should step back. But the child in my belly, honey, I just hope to give birth to the child in the Lewis family and give the child a name."
"The child?" John casually rubbed his thumb, glancing at Jane's belly.
A calculating look flashed in Rex's eyes. "Nephew, Jane is back safe and pregnant with your child. She should be the mistress, and the company should be handed over to her. Ms. White isn't even part of the family yet."
"Sam, Tyler," John ordered coldly, "Escort Uncle Rex out."
"Yes, sir."
Sam and Tyler grabbed Rex and dragged him out.
"John, I'm your uncle; let go of me," Rex roared, "Sam, Tyler, let go! Who do you think you are?"
Before Rex could finish, he was thrown out.
The hall fell silent. Lloyd hadn't said a word the whole time.
The Lewis family was handed over to John, so he never interfered with John's decisions.
The family only needed one head.
Wade was furious at seeing his father thrown out. "John, what do you mean by this?"
"Anyone who dares to question me will face the same fate," John said with authority, his cold gaze sweeping over everyone. "From today on, Aurora represents me and will handle all matters of the Lewis family."
