Chapter 138 In Trouble

Aurora was just chillin', listening to Eleanor, and bam, her words hit like a rock in a pond, making waves.

Maybe it was what Eleanor said, but when Aurora glanced at Summer and Loren again, she thought, 'Dang, they do kinda look like John.'

She quickly shook it off. No way, right? She'd only known John for like, six months. No chance they could have kids that old.

Eleanor grinned, showering the kids with compliments and even handed them gifts. "Here, a little something from me."

"Eleanor, that's way too much," Helen jumped in. "These kids aren't John's; you got it wrong. But Aurora's gonna be my daughter-in-law soon."

"Ah?" Eleanor looked a bit awkward but smiled. "No biggie, these kids are adorable. They should totally take the gifts."

Summer and Loren hesitated; they weren't cool with taking stuff from strangers.

Eleanor insisted, "Don't be shy."

Helen chimed in, "Summer, Loren, go ahead."

Finally, Summer and Loren took the gifts and sweetly said, "Thanks. "

"They really do look alike," Eleanor said, eyeing the kids again. "Oh, Helen, I gotta run. Let's catch up at Lloyd's birthday bash."

Helen nodded. "Sure, see you there."

After Eleanor bounced, Helen looked at Summer and Loren and then smiled at Aurora. "Aurora, we've had enough food and wine. How about we go grab some clothes for Summer and Loren?"

For Lloyd's birthday party, the kids should look sharp.

"Okay." Aurora had always wanted to buy clothes for the kids.

Between the two, Aurora felt most guilty towards Summer. She had bought clothes and hung out with Loren but never got anything for Summer.

After tidying up, they left, and a tall figure stepped out from behind a marble pillar.

Wade's eyes were locked on the direction Aurora and the others had gone.

Summer and Loren were John's kids?

Such a weak spot, it waslike fate's giving him a hand.

Wade's mind raced, and he made a call. "Got a business opportunity, you in?"

Aurora and the crew hit the mall for over two hours, loading up on stuff for Summer and Loren.

Everywhere they went, Summer and Loren turned heads.

When buying clothes, the salespeople thought Aurora was the mom and Helen the grandma.

They kept gushing about how gorgeous the kids were.

Especially their eyes, so captivating, they'd definitely be heartthrobs when they grow up.

Summer, all mature and calm, looked super dapper in a little suit, giving off international vibes.

Loren was all about that British style, looking cute and charming, with delicate features and fair skin, even better looking than those kid stars in magazines.

Aurora looked at the two kids, her heart melting.

John sent a message: [Aurora, where you at?]

It had been most of the day, and John only now thought to hit her up.

Aurora was still a bit miffed, but thinking about John digging a pond and planting water lilies for her, she felt better.

Aurora typed back: [With Summer and Loren, Helen's with us too.]

After sending the message, it took a while for John to reply with just one word: [Okay.]

'Okay? What does that even mean?' Aurora pouted and was about to stash her phone when Linda sent a message, asking her to come to the office for an urgent document that needed translating.

It was in Portuguese, and no one at the company knew the language. Linda remembered Aurora did and called her back urgently.

Aurora handed the kids over to Helen and zoomed straight to the Lewis Group.

In the parking lot, she spotted John's car driving off. She thought about hollering but decided against it since the car was already pretty far.

When Aurora got to the office, Linda let out a big sigh of relief. "Aurora, thank goodness you're here. We need this document translated ASAP; Mr. Perry's waiting."

"Got it," Aurora said, skimming through the document. "Give me an hour."

There was a ton to translate, so it was gonna take a bit.

Linda frowned. "Forty minutes, tops, Aurora, please."

"I'll do my best." Aurora didn't waste any time and dove right in.

Linda helped out where she could.

Aurora hadn't been to the office in a while. A lot of folks in the industry knew about her and John, but her coworkers were still clueless.

Aurora's fingers flew over the keyboard, focused and fast, tearing through the material quickly.

Meanwhile, Helen took Summer and Loren to grab a bite after shopping and ran into Leo at the mall entrance.

Leo was driving a flashy new sports car and whistled at Loren. "Check out my new ride, cool, huh? Wanna go for a spin?"

Summer looked at Loren. "Who's this dude?"

"Aurora's godbrother," Loren explained.

"Helen," Leo greeted Helen too. "You look amazing today, like you're in your twenties."

"You're such a sweet-talker," Helen said, clearly pleased.

Leo patted the sports car. "Loren, hop in, I'll take you for a spin."

Just then, Summer noticed a few guys in black clothes, black pants, and sunglasses reflected in Leo's car mirror.

Summer immediately got on high alert. Could it be that the Wolfpack knew he was from Nightfall and came to nab him?

When they left, Randy had warned him that Nightfall had a ton of enemies, and being chased was pretty common.

Summer didn't panic. He walked to Leo and, in a commanding tone, said, "Take Loren for a spin and then bring him back."

As soon as he finished speaking, the men quickly approached, looking all aggressive. "Hand over the kids, and don't meddle."

Leo and Helen were totally bewildered.

"What are you doing, trying to kidnap kids in broad daylight?" Helen shielded them. "Do you know who I am? I'm from the Lewis family of Silver Crest City. Can you afford to mess with us?"

"Get lost," one of the men in black said, shoving Helen aside.

"What the heck? This is outrageous. I'm still here, and you dare to be so arrogant." Leo got out of the car. "Wait, I'll call dozens of guards to deal with you. Do you dare to kidnap people?"

Leo was about to make a call when one of the men quickly knocked the phone out of his hand and punched him back a few steps.

"Damn it, you dare to hurt me, you're asking for it." Leo rolled up his sleeves, ready to throw down.

Seeing the situation was bad, Summer noticed more cars behind them. The other side had a lot of backup. He immediately pulled Leo. "What are you fighting for? Run, get in the car."

Leo also saw the number of people and decided it was better to avoid the immediate danger. He jumped into the sports car, and Summer got in too, reaching out to pull Loren. "Loren, get in quickly."

Summer had Loren sit in the middle.

The three of them moved fast, getting in the car in just a few seconds.

"Drive, what are you waiting for?" Summer shouted.

Leo sped off through the front exit.

"Chase them," the men yelled, hot on their tail.
