This remark made many people laugh.
Everyone at the company could see how hard Aurora worked. She was never late, always aiming for perfect attendance and bonuses. Her clothes were plain, often just cheap items from street vendors.
Who would believe that someone like her was a hidden heiress?
Seeing the situation escalating, Donna stepped in to mediate. "We're all colleagues here, no need to make things unpleasant. Let's all disperse."
"Scared, huh? I bet she doesn't dare reveal that man's true identity. Poor guy, I mean her boyfriend, doesn't even know she's cheating on him."
Aurora frowned. It wasn't that she didn't want to mention Kevin, but it wouldn't help. No one would believe her.
Kevin was the head of the Robinson Group, a major conglomerate. If she had mentioned it, it would have only made things worse.
Aurora stood up, about to speak, when a wealthy-looking woman suddenly appeared and asked, "Who is Aurora?"
It was Kevin's wife, Ashley.
Ashley often appeared in public with Kevin, so everyone recognized her.
Ashley's appearance left everyone surprised and confused.
Why would the wife of the boss of the Robinson Group come looking for Aurora?
Quickly, someone connected the dots to Aurora getting into a luxury car.
Someone in the crowd spoke up, "Could Aurora be Kevin's mistress? Is Kevin's wife here to confront her?"
"Looks like it. Why else would Mrs. Robinson come to our small company?"
"Aurora must be quite something to catch Kevin's eye."
"So what if Aurora's capable? Now that Kevin's wife is here, let's see how she handles it."
Rose, seeing Ashley, was delighted and said with a smile, "Mrs. Robinson, this is Aurora. What brings you here to see her?"
Aurora remained calm while Ashley's gaze fell on her, eyes lighting up.
No wonder Aurora could captivate Leo; she was so stunning thateven women would be jealous.
Ashley had been warned by Kevin. Though she doted on Leo, she wasn't a woman who ignored the bigger picture.
Ashley walked towards Aurora, scrutinizing her carefully, and nodded. "Kevin indeed has good taste."
Ashley meant that Kevin had a good eye for people. Before seeing Aurora, she thought Aurora was just a pretty face. But knowing that Aurora had caught the attention of someone from the Lewis family made her even more curious.
Ashley thought, 'Someone favored by the Lewis family couldn't just be a pretty face.'
'Definitely not.'
The banquet was this weekend, and Ashley was curious about Aurora, so she came to see her in advance.
However, Ashley's words had a different meaning to the onlookers.
Was Aurora really favored by Kevin?
Was she really Kevin's mistress?
Even Lucas, who was watching, had his doubts.
It was Aurora's first time meeting Ashley, and she didn't understand her intentions. "Mrs. Robinson, what brings you here?"
Rose said sarcastically, "Aurora, don't you know what you've done? Now Mrs. Robinson is here. How long are you going to keep pretending?"
Just as everyone was waiting for Ashley to confront Aurora, expecting a dramatic showdown, Ashley took Aurora's hand and smiled. "Kevin came to see you yesterday and only remembered to discuss the banquet details. He forgot to give you this."
Ashley took out a jewelry box from her bag, revealing a pair of diamond earrings. "I personally chose these. If you like them, wear them at the banquet; you'll look stunning. I originally saved these for Leo's wife, but I think they suit you better."
Ashley's actions left the onlookers dumbfounded.
Rose was also confused.
Rose thought, 'Ashley wasn't here to cause trouble?'
'What banquet?'
'What was Aurora's relationship with the Robinson family?'
Aurora glanced at the earrings. The wealthy were indeed generous.
Kevin had previously given her an expensive apology gift, and now Ashley was giving her diamond earrings.
Aurora thought of the bracelet Helen had given her, which seemed even more valuable.
How rich was John's family?
If John's family was wealthy, why would John be running errands?
Aurora couldn't help but think of the injury on John's arm, which was in the same place as the head of the Lewis family, and they had the same name.
Aurora was lost in thought, and Ashley, thinking Aurora didn't like the earrings, smiled awkwardly, "If you don't like them, I can pick out a few more for you to choose from."
Aurora snapped out of it and smiled. "No, I really like them. Thank you, Mrs. Robinson."
Ashley smiled. "Don't call me Mrs. Robinson. Why not just call me godmother? It's just a matter of time."
Godmother?
Ashley was Aurora's godmother?
Rose was stunned, and so were the others.
Aurora really was a hidden heiress.
As the Robinson family's goddaughter, she would enjoy endless wealth and luxury.
Aurora couldn't bring herself to call Ashley godmother just yet, and Ashley didn't force her, smiling. "It's okay, you can call me that at the banquet. I won't disturb your work any longer. I'll be going now."
As she spoke, Ashley smiled at Aurora's colleagues. "Thank you for taking care of Aurora at work. This weekend, if you're free, please come to the banquet."
The hostessof the Robinson family personally inviting them to a top-tier banquet left everyone flattered, and they all nodded. "We'll definitely be there."
Ashley came suddenly and left just as quickly, leaving everyone stunned.
Ashley's arrival had inadvertently quashed the rumors of Aurora being a mistress.
Now, everyone knew Aurora was the Robinson family's adopted daughter, and their attitudes towards her changed immediately.
"I knew it. Aurora couldn't be someone's mistress. She's clearly a adopted daughter."
"Exactly, some people should get their facts straight before speaking, causing us all to misunderstand Aurora."
"I think someone deliberately slandered Aurora to push her out and take her spot at headquarters. After all, there are only two spots."
"How sinister, using us as pawns. Aurora, don't be mad at us. We didn't know; we were misled by Rose."
Flattery and opportunism flooded through the office.
That's the workplace.
Aurora naturally wouldn't be angry because it wasn't necessary.
Aurora smiled at Rose, "If you respect me, I'll respect you even more. But if you cross me, I'm not someone to be trifled with."
Rose, thinking of Joe's fate, quickly smiled. "Aurora, it was a misunderstanding. Just a misunderstanding."
"Find out who sent the anonymous email," Lucas stepped forward and instructed his assistant, Mary. "The company won't tolerate troublemakers and rumor spreaders. Once found, they will be severely punished and fired, no matter who it is."
Mary said, "Yes, Mr. Lucas Lewis."
Hearing this, Rose panicked.
She didn't expect such serious consequences.
Aurora noticed Rose's expression. She wasn't a saint; if someone wronged her, she wouldn't forgive them with just an apology.
Aurora stood up and said, "Thank you, Mr. Lucas Lewis, for upholding justice."
Aurora had noticed Lucas earlier. He had been watching the commotion for a while, and she thought he wouldn't intervene.
"Alright, everyone, get back to your work," Lucas said coldly as he walked towards his office.
Within an hour, the rumor spreader was identified.
Rose was fired. As she left, she spitefully said to Aurora, "I won't let this go. I'll get back at you for this."
Aurora thought she was crazy. Rose had caused her trouble, and now Rose held a grudge against her?
"Whatever, I'm ready anytime," Aurora replied lazily, not taking it seriously, unaware that Rose would become a ticking time bomb in the future.
