Chapter 284 Life is Like a Roller Coaster
Aurora found it hard to believe that the person standing at the door was John, who had been away for more than half a month.
John had arrived in Silvercrest City just before dawn. He had climbed over the wall to avoid alerting the Robinson family.
He was eager to see Aurora and was about to turn the doorknob when Aurora happened to open the door from the inside.
John's eyes were deep, and his thin lips curved slightly. "Aurora, I'm back!"
With that, Aurora excitedly threw herself into John's arms, wrapping her hands around his waist.
Aurora said, "You're finally back. Do you know how worried I've been every day? I was so afraid something would happen to you, that you... might never come back."
"I'm back!" John emphasized. Then he held Aurora tightly, kissed her forehead, and hugged her again. "Aurora, I missed you."
It was the first time they had been apart for so long. Last time, because of Jennifer's scheming, Aurora had left in a huff, but they had never been separated for this long.
John wished he could call Aurora a hundred times a day, but he was too busy as there was too much going on over there,.
Aurora inhaled John's familiar scent, and she gradually calmed down. "Let me see if you're hurt."
Aurora had heard from Lori that the security in Aetheria was poor. Knowing that John was involved in dangerous work made her even more worried.
"I'm fine..." John didn't finish his sentence and suddenly gasped in pain.
When Aurora reached out to take off John's clothes to check, her hand accidentally touched his shoulder.
Seeing John wince in pain, Aurora quickly pulled his clothes aside.
His shoulder was wrapped in gauze, and the gauze was stained with red blood.
"How did you get hurt? Is it serious?" Aurora's heart clenched, and she angrily pushed John onto the sofa. She said with a voice full of heartache, "You still want to lie to me? Sit still; I'll get the first aid kit and change your bandage."
John smiled as he realized that Aurora was concerned about him.
Aurora glared at him fiercely.
"Honey." John held Aurora's hand, his thumb gently stroking the back of her hand. "It's so good to have you."
Aurora smiled. "Your sweet talk is getting better."
Aurora pulled her hand back, fetched the first aid kit, and carefully took off John's shirt, revealing the wound on his shoulder.
"You still haven't told me how you got hurt?" Aurora asked as she unwrapped the gauze.
"Because of a fight," John said with a sigh.."
Aurora removed all the gauze and saw that the wound on his shoulder was about two inches long, with more than a dozen stitches.
Aurora's nose tingled, and a tear fell on John's smooth shoulder. Her fingertips trembled, hesitant to touch.
Aurora could no longer bear to watch. Her heart ached as she turned her head away, tears cascading down her cheeks. She took a deep breath to compose herself before turning back around.
"It really doesn't hurt," John said, holding Aurora's hand and smiling. "Don't cry; it pains me to see you sad."
Aurora felt both angry and touched by his words. She reminded, "John, I'll allow you to get hurt this one last time. If you dare get hurt again, don't even think about sleeping in bed for a year. You'll be sleeping on the sofa to reflect."
John couldn't help but laugh. "Honey, that's torture. I'd rather kneel."
Aurora remembered how John had knelt without hesitation last time and couldn't help but laugh.
"Last time, you knelt on your own," Aurora teased. "You care so much about your dignity, yet you knelt just like that."
Aurora said, "Compared to you, those things don't matter."
"Yes, I know. In your heart, my life is more important than yours, and my feelings are more important than your pride. I truly feel at a loss with you."
Aurora really had no way to deal with John. Although John seemed to yield to her in everything, making it look like she had the upper hand, she was the one being controlled by John in fact.
Aurora took new gauze and carefully re-bandaged John's wound.
She was afraid of hurting him, so her movements were as gentle as possible.
Aurora asked, "Is everything in Aetheria taken care of?"
"Yes, it's all handled," John said, "This time Todd really lived up to expectations and didn't make any mistakes. We've reclaimed two supply lines and signed a ten-year contract. During my time in Aetheria, I managed to buy some stocks, and this afternoon I sold them all, making over 200 billion dollars. The land I bought in Zandar recently yielded gold, which I estimate will bring in another few hundred billion dollars…"
Aurora was stunned.
She asked, "How much did you make in total over the past half month?"
John thought for a moment and said, "I've basically paid off all the debts."
"John, how did you do it?" Aurora exclaimed, "With your ability to make money, you could become the richest person in the world in no time."
John suddenly went bankrupt, and his debts were settled within just half a month. This was nothing short of a miracle.
John said, “I first borrowed a million dollars from Todd, visited an antique shop, and earned my initial turnaround capital from there. Then I bought the stocks I had my eye on..."
John seriously explained his operations to Aurora, who only half-understood but was amazed. She thought it was simply beyond what a normal person could do.
John concluded, "Aurora, making money relies on sixty percent brains, thirty percent luck, and ten percent courage. If you treat money as numbers, you just need to manipulate those numbers. It's very simple."
Aurora looked at John seriously. "But in this world, most people are ordinary. Not everyone has those qualities."
There were indeed people who get rich overnight. With John's intellect, his years of accumulated connections, and his keen sense for business opportunities, it really wasn't hard for him to make a comeback.
Aurora asked, puzzled, "John, with your intellect, you can make so much in such a short time. Why did you lose to Richard and Sandra's alliance?"
John said meaningfully, "Why not take advantage of such a great opportunity for a major reshuffle?"
Aurora didn't understand. John said, "Aurora, you don't need to understand. Just know that as long as I'm here, you'll be the happiest queen in the world. There's an interview tomorrow, Aurora, get some rest."
That night, with John by her side, Aurora slept exceptionally well.
The next day.
When Aurora woke up, John was already being interviewed.
At the conclusion of the interview, the host posed a personal question with a smile, "Mr. Lewis, do you have any regrets about marrying so young? There might be someone out there who could be a better match than your wife."
John, in front of the entire nation and the camera, said, "If you really knew my wife, you wouldn't ask that. My wife is exceptional, and I couldn't wait to tie her down with marriage..."
