Chapter 340: Aurora's Mother is Resurrected

Luis approached Aurora, tilted her head slightly, and smiled, "You look a lot like my godmother, so I like you."

"Your godmother?" Aurora looked at Luis, her skin was tan, and her features were very pronounced and deep.

Luis was a local, so his godmother should be too.

Their skin colors were different, how could they look alike?

Aurora scrutinized Luis again, "How old are you? In your twenties?"

"In my twenties?" Luis laughed heartily, "I'm only eighteen."

Aurora felt awkward. The people in this country had such mature features; she couldn't judge by her own country's standards.

Luis continued, "My godmother is also from your country. You two really look alike. If we get the chance, I can introduce you to her. For now, we should wait here for someone to rescue us."

"What if Raymond comes up here?" Aurora glanced around. They were on a rooftop; the only way out was to jump.

As soon as Aurora finished speaking, there was a sound of someone kicking the door at the stairway entrance.

Luis immediately signaled Aurora to hide. There was nowhere else to hide on the rooftop except behind a pillar.

Aurora felt like they were just fooling themselves.

Right now, survival was the priority. Maybe the other party would be blind and not see her?

Just as Aurora hid, the door was kicked open, and Raymond came up with his men, immediately spotting Luis leaning against the railing, admiring the moonlight.

Raymond scanned the rooftop and indeed didn't see Aurora. He walked towards Luis, knowing her identity, and spoke respectfully, "Miss, are you alone here? Have you seen a very beautiful woman?"

"No." Luis crossed her arms and stared at Raymond, "The hotel caught fire, and I'm here getting some fresh air. Is that a problem?"

"This is your place, you can do whatever you want." Raymond replied, his eyes still scanning the rooftop. Suddenly, he walked towards the pillar.

Hearing the footsteps, Aurora's heart leapt into her throat, and Luis tensed up as well. At that moment, a rat scurried out, causing Raymond to jump back in fright.

Raymond had been terrified of rats his whole life, having a childhood trauma.

Luis took the opportunity to mock, "Didn't expect Mr. Cooper to be afraid of a little rat."

Raymond's face turned dark.

"If there's no one here, I won't disturb your fresh air." Saying that, Raymond was about to leave.

Luis playfully spoke, "Mr. Cooper, the fire at my hotel tonight was very suspicious. If I find out who did it, beware of my godmother's revenge."

Raymond glanced at Luis, said nothing, and left with his men.

Aurora waited until everyone had left before coming out.

"Just left like that?" It was a false alarm for Aurora.

This was too childish. They didn't even check properly. If this were a TV show, it would be insulting the audience's intelligence and would be heavily criticized.

Aurora was really impressed by their intelligence; she had been worried for nothing.

Luis voiced, "They probably won't come back. Let's go, hide at my place."

"They just left, won't we run into them if we go down now?"

"There's another exit." Luis walked to the other side of the rooftop, where there was a small door.

"Why didn't you say so earlier?"

Luis explained, "You didn't ask."

Aurora felt she and Luis were never on the same page. She wanted to say something but decided against it.

Through the small door, there was an emergency elevator that went directly to the basement parking lot.

The elevator was functional. When they reached the parking lot, Aurora wanted to contact Lachlan and Gideon, but Luis didn't have a phone, and her phone was left in the hotel room.

They had to leave first and figure it out later.

Aurora later thought she was quite brave to just go with someone like that. If Luis had any bad intentions, she would have been at Luis's mercy.

As it turned out, Aurora had good judgment and didn't misjudge Luis.

An hour later, Aurora arrived at Luis's place. She had never been there before, but as soon as she entered, a sense of familiarity washed over her.

The room's decor and furnishings were very familiar, and the ceramics on the shelves were also very familiar.

Aurora was stunned by these and asked, "Luis, who decorated this room?"

"My godmother." Luis poured water for Aurora, "By the way, where's the beautiful lady who was with you? She's really good at fighting. Can she teach me a few moves?"

Aurora was completely absorbed in the ceramics. Her mother also loved these handicrafts. The sofa, curtains, lamps, and everything else in this house were exactly the same as the room Aurora had in The White Villa.

To be precise, they were exactly the same as the room she lived in before she was eight years old.

After she turned eight, her mother passed away, and she was sent to the storage room by Nicole. Her original room was taken over by Emily.

"This is impossible." Aurora, visibly agitated, lost control for a moment. She grabbed Luis's hand, trembling as she asked, "What's your godmother's name? Where is she? I want to see her now."

"What's wrong with you?" Luis looked at Aurora, puzzled, "She went out and should be back tomorrow."

"Okay, tomorrow." Aurora picked up a ceramic piece from the shelf and asked, "Did she make all these?"

"Yes, it's her hobby. She says it's good for the soul."

Aurora caressed the ceramic vase, "My mom used to love making these too. She would even put her mark at the bottom of the vase."

Aurora turned it over and was shocked to see the character "W" engraved at the bottom.

Her mother also habitually engraved a "W" at the bottom.

When she didn't know her mother's real name was Wendy, she had asked why it was a "W" and not something else.

Her mother had just smiled gently and explained nothing.

How could there be such a coincidence?

At that moment, there was the sound of a car pulling into the yard. Luis spoke, "Maybe my godmother came back early."

Luis went out to check, and Aurora heard Luis excitedly shout in the local language, "Wendy, did you have a good day?"

Aurora couldn't help but put down the ceramic vase and staggered out.

Standing at the door, Aurora's eyes were fixed on a noblewoman standing in the yard, and gradually, her eyes reddened.

The noblewoman gently patted Luis's head and, in a motherly tone, asked, "I heard the hotel caught fire. Are you hurt?"

"Wendy, I'm fine. Tonight's incident was probably Raymond's doing. He only burned one room, and the fire is out." Luis remembered Aurora and uttered, "Wendy, I have a friend who wants to meet you. I told you, she looks a lot like you, and I like her, so I brought her back."

"Really? Where is she?" The noblewoman's eyes were always gentle when looking at Luis. But when she turned and met Aurora's gaze, her smile froze.

Aurora, with reddened eyes, tentatively called out, "Mom? Is that you?"
