Chapter 196 Avenge Your Mother
When Lori heard that Aurora had dumped John, she got all excited and started gossiping, "Aurora, spill the tea! How'd you dump him? Did he cheat on you? Did he have another girl on the side?"
Aurora's eyes went wide. "How did you know?"
"Bingo!" Lori snapped her fingers and said, "Aurora, think about it. You're pregnant and can't, you know, do the deed, but John's in his prime. It's no surprise he couldn't keep it in his pants."
Aurora, feeling super down, said, "Lori, I thought you'd comfort me. You're just making it worse."
"There are so many good guys out there; you don't need to be stuck on John," Lori said passionately. "Aurora, there are plenty of great guys in Wolfpack. Why not find a new dad for the baby before you leave?"
Aurora was stunned and speechless. She just said, "I'm going to sleep."
Aurora walked out, and the store staff delivered all her purchases to Lori's place.
"Aurora, what about the SPA? Beauty sleep is better."
"Aurora, wait up!" Lori called after her, but Aurora was determined. Lori had no choice but to follow.
Aurora had been staying at Lori's place for the past few days. Lori really knew how to live it up. She had the best villa in the city, living there with Ava.
Aurora went straight to bed when she got back.
Alone, she sat on the bed, touching her belly, and murmured softly, "Will you blame mommy?"
Born without a daddy.
Aurora had decided not to forgive John. Her mind was filled with images of John and Jennifer together. Whether anything happened or not, it made her feel awful.
As for the baby, it was just angry talk. She couldn't bear to give up the baby. The baby was innocent.
But if the baby was born, it would definitely have ties with John, so she had to run away.
Aurora felt pretty useless, like a deserter, which was so unlike her.
Maybe it was the bond with the baby, or maybe John had been too good to her, making her feel so hurt and act so extreme.
Aurora shook her head. "Stop thinking, just sleep now."
She fell asleep immediately.
Maybe she was really exhausted; Aurora slept until evening.
Lori had already made dinner, and Aurora smelled the food as soon as she went downstairs.
"I'm starving," Aurora said, rubbing her belly and sitting down. "I'm not holding back."
Lori asked, "Aurora, how long are you planning to stay here?"
"No plans, just staying for now," Aurora said while eating, giving Lori a look. "What, are you kicking me out?"
"Of course not, stay as long as you want," Lori laughed. "Aurora, dig in. Forget about John. From now on, the three of us will stick together. You stay home and take care of the baby, and Ava and I will go out and make money."
Aurora couldn't help but spit out her food, "Lori, I feel like you have ulterior motives. You and Ava, you two aren't, you know, together, are you?"
It wasn't Aurora's fault for thinking that way; Lori's words were too suggestive. And Lori and Ava were always inseparable, one cold as ice, the other passionate as fire, such a perfect match.
Ava quickly clarified, "My sexual orientation is normal."
Lori finally got what Aurora meant and felt a bit helpless, "Aurora, you really have a wild imagination."
Aurora laughed, "You two are always together, you can't blame me for thinking too much. Actually, it's not a big deal. I'm open-minded and can accept it."
Aurora raised an eyebrow, noticing how close Lori and Ava were, practically shoulder to shoulder, with a vibe that screamed ambiguity.
Lori and Ava exchanged a glance and quickly scooted their chairs apart, clearly worried about being misunderstood.
They both said at the same time. "We're really not in that kind of relationship."
"I get it," Aurora said with a knowing smile, like she was in on some secret.
That smile made it look like she totally thought they were a thing. The two of them felt super embarrassed and helpless. The more they tried to explain, the more awkward it got.
Lori quickly changed the subject. "Aurora, Uncle Richard heard you were here and wants to see you."
"Sure, no problem," Aurora said, eager to see Richard. She was really curious about her mom's past. "Where is Uncle Richard? How about now? I slept a lot during the day anyway."
Lori said, "Then after dinner, I'll take you there."
The Wolfpack had always been a mess internally, with only a few people backing Richard.
Not long ago, Richard got chased by enemies and ended up in the hospital, making the Wolfpack even more chaotic and fragmented.
After dinner, Lori and Ava took Aurora to the hospital. The floor where Richard was staying was heavily guarded at all entrances.
In the hallway, Aurora was surprised to run into Hank. "Uncle Bobcat."
"Aurora, what are you doing here?" Hank was just as surprised.
Last time at the branch, Aurora left in a hurry, and Hank thought he wouldn't see her for a while.
Aurora replied, "I'm here to see Richard."
Hank got it. "Aurora, don't worry, that guy won't die."
Aurora almost laughed. Hank came from the branch, so he must be worried about Richard, just too stubborn to admit it.
Hank's voice was loud, like he wanted Richard in the ward to hear.
Sure enough, a strong voice came from inside, "I won't die before you. As long as you're alive and kicking, I won't die."
Hank shot back, "Good people don't live long, but bad ones last forever."
Aurora and Lori felt a bit helpless.
Richard and Hank were over a hundred years old combined, yet they bickered like kids.
Hank said, "Aurora, I'm heading back. I'll be at the headquarters for a while. If you need anything, just come to me."
"Okay," Aurora said. "Uncle Bobcat, take care."
After Hank left, Aurora went in alone, while Lori and Ava waited at the door. In the ward, Richard was leaning against the headboard, looking really weak.
"Aurora, you finally came," Richard said, his eyes full of affection.
"...Uncle."
Aurora felt a bit strange. The last time she saw Richard was months ago, and back then, she had no idea he was her mom's brother.
Calling him Uncle felt kinda weird.
"Take a seat," Richard gestured. "Aurora, I originally planned to bring you back after handling everything, but you must have heard from Lori that the Wolfpack is in chaos. I'm powerless now."
Aurora said, "Uncle, just focus on getting better. Nothing is more important than your health."
Richard shook his head. "Aurora, I asked Lori to bring you here because I have something to entrust to you. My health is getting worse, and I don't have much time left. This matter can only be handled by you."
"Uncle, you sounded pretty strong when talking to Uncle Bobcat just now."
"I was just pretending."
Aurora coughed lightly, "Uncle, just tell me what it is."
Aurora thought she was just a woman, and Richard wouldn't really entrust anything important to her. However, Richard's next words left her stunned.
Richard said, "Avenge your mother."
