Chapter 175 Explosive Live Broadcast

Hank's actions left everyone scratching their heads.

Lori stepped in front of Aurora, "Bobcat, what are you staring at? If you keep looking at my cousin like that, I'll gouge your eyes out."

Hank snapped out of it and glanced at Aurora, muttering, "So alike, so alike."

Aurora was just as confused. She took a couple of steps forward, trying to be polite. "Bobcat, right? I'm Aurora. I'm not here to cause trouble or spy. I just wanted to see where my mom used to live."

Hank urgently asked, "What's your mom's name? Is it Wendy?"

Aurora had never heard that name before and was about to shake her head when Lori whispered in her ear, "Auntie's real name is Wendy, that's what Uncle said."

Aurora suddenly realized her mom was from the Lee family. Her mom had moved to SilverCrest City to marry Dean and live a low-key life, so she couldn't use the name Wendy anymore.

Aurora was super curious about why her mom gave up being the eldest daughter of the Lee family to marry Dean, who was just a small business owner back then.

Aurora looked at Hank's hopeful eyes and nodded. "Yeah, my mom's name is Wendy."

Hank turned away, tears streaming down his face.

Aurora and Lori were both stunned.

Lori blurted out, "Bobcat, did you have a thing for my aunt?"

The way Hank had looked at Aurora just now was totally like a man in love.

Taking another glance at Aurora, he didn't answer Lori and told his crew, "Alright, everyone, go home and get some sleep. It's over."

Everyone was confused but followed Hank's orders and left. The courtyard cleared out.

Lori was puzzled, "Just like that? Aurora, you must have some serious charm. Just showing up made Bobcat dismiss everyone."

"What's going on?" Aurora asked, "Who is this Bobcat?"

"Bobcat, real name Hank, runs this branch. He's been with the Lee family since Wolfpack was founded. He's got a weird temper. Uncle has asked him several times to go to the headquarters, but he insists on staying here to watch over these factories and hang out with the workers and their families." Lori said, "Bobcat seems to have some beef with Uncle. Anyway, Hank doesn't like me either."

No wonder Aurora saw people of all ages just now, and this small town had a nice vibe. Everyone was super down-to-earth, not like business elites. Turns out this was a branch factory of the Wolfpack.

Lori summed it up, "Basically, Bobcat handles logistics."

That was a good summary.

Ava said, "Lori, it's getting late. Let Aurora rest first. We can talk tomorrow."

"Right." Lori quickly said, "Aurora, you and Loren rest first. You stay upstairs, Ava and I will stay downstairs. Sleep well."

It was indeed very late, almost ten at night.

Aurora took Loren back to the room to rest and sent a message to John to let him know she was safe. She didn't mention the pregnancy.

Aurora wanted to see John's reaction when he found out the good news and share the joy.

After washing up, Loren got into bed. "Mommy, I'll warm up the bed for you. You can get in later."

"Loren, you're so thoughtful." Aurora felt warm inside. "Loren, have you ever blamed Mommy? Mommy's negligence made you and Summer grow up in the orphanage. You must have gone through a lot."

Aurora always felt guilty about this, but she never showed it.

It was a blessing that Loren was sent to her. If she hadn't met Loren back then, who knew what kind of situation Loren would have faced after leaving the orphanage?

Loren shook his head. "Mommy, don't blame yourself. Summer and I don't blame you at all. Actually, we had a lot of fun at the orphanage, but the director and the staff weren't so happy."

"Oh? Tell me more." Aurora thought of how mischievous Loren was and became curious about his life at the orphanage.

Loren had mentioned a bit before but never went into detail.

Loren sat up, wrapped in the blanket, and started talking about his days at the orphanage. "The director was a real creep. So, one time, I caught a snake and slipped it into his bed. He fainted and had to be taken away by an ambulance."

"And another time, the director didn't give Summer and me any food and locked us up for a whole day..."

Later, Loren peed in the director's water cup, and no one knew it until today.

The orphanage staff often scolded and even hit the kids. Loren would stand up for them. He'd put glue on chairs or sneak caterpillars or toads into their food or bags—stuff like that happened all the time.

If Loren got caught and beaten, Summer would step in to help, but they were just kids. No matter how much trouble they caused, they couldn't avoid getting beaten.

They often turned the orphanage upside down, making no one dare to adopt them.

Loren laughed heartily as he recounted these stories, feeling very happy, but Aurora felt a pang of sadness in her heart.

Not having enough to eat, being beaten, not being warm, going hungry for days—hearing these things felt like knives cutting into Aurora's heart.

Whose children weren't cherished and pampered?

Her two precious ones. She had never properly pampered them, never fed them a single bottle, and never held them when they were little.

She hadn't experienced the hardships of raising children, yet she had two such wonderful kids. Being called "Mommy" came so easily.

She hadn't watched them babble their first words, and hadn't helped them learn to walk. She hadn't changed a single diaper, and hadn't stayed up a single night for them.

She definitely had been a very negligent mother.

In the end, Loren sighed and said, "They raised us, and we're actually very grateful. So we only played pranks. When they hit us, we ran if we could. If we couldn't, we rarely fought back."

Loren proudly said, "Mommy, I run very fast. They rarely caught me, and I can climb trees. Plus, Summer always protected me."

"You little troublemaker." Aurora, with tears in her eyes, smiled and tapped Loren's nose while hugging him tightly. "Mommy owes you both so much."

Loren shook his head and said seriously, "Mommy, you don't owe us anything. Summer says that parents and children are independent individuals. There's no talk of owing each other. You brought my brother and me into this world, and we made you a mommy. Life is a cycle, and no one is obligated to anyone else."

Aurora was amazed by the philosophical insight from her five-year-old son, realizing that despite her extensive education, her thinking was narrower than his.

Life was independent. Everyone was living their first life. The titles of parents and children were just titles. There was no rule that anyone must fulfill responsibilities or obligations to anyone else.

"That does sound like something Summer would say." Aurora felt very comforted. "Loren, Mommy suddenly misses Summer. I wonder what your brother is doing."

It had been several hours since she last saw her eldest son, and Aurora was starting to miss him.

Loren giggled, "Mommy, I miss Summer too. I did some research. We're only a few hundred miles away from where Summer is."

"When did you research that? How come I didn't know?" Aurora was surprised. She didn't even know where they were exactly.

"Just when the plane landed. I estimated the direction." Loren nodded his head. "I did the research here."

Summer went to the Nightfall headquarters, and this was the Wolfpack branch. The two places were only a few hundred miles apart. Could this be dangerous for Nightfall?

Aurora hesitated, wondering if she should inform John. Just as she was thinking about it, John's call came in.

"Huh, calling so late?" Aurora was curious. She answered the phone and teasingly said, "John, what's up? Missing me already?"

Before Aurora could finish her sentence, she clearly heard the sounds of a man and woman having sex on the other end of the line.
