Chapter 322: What Day Is It Today? It's Just One Thing After Another
Aurora was silent for a few seconds before responding.
Alexander waited for a long time, but there was no follow-up?
So calm?
That's not normal.
He couldn't help but say, "Aurora, I want to go see your aunt."
Aurora knew that this was Alexander's real purpose.
She rubbed her temples and voiced, "Alexander, I haven't even acknowledged my own father yet, and you're already arranging to see my aunt."
Aurora still hadn't accepted the fact that Nicole was her aunt.
Nicole was someone she absolutely did not want to mention in her life.
"Aurora, I've been apart from your aunt for so many years. Now that I have news of her, how can I not go see her? Blood is thicker than water..."
"Alright, you go wait at the women's prison first. I'll be there soon."
Some things just can't be avoided.
Aurora put down her work and drove to the women's prison.
When she arrived, Alexander and Dean were already there, sitting in the car. When they saw Aurora, Alexander quickly got out of the car, and Dean hesitated for a moment before getting out.
Aurora parked the car and got out.
"Aurora." Alexander walked over with a big smile.
"Let's go." Aurora was straightforward and didn't say much.
Since she and Dean were related to Nicole, it was reasonable for them to request a visit.
After completing the procedures, Aurora stood outside the visiting room door, not going in. Dean was also at the door smoking, not going in.
"Dean, aren't you going to see her?"
Dean wanted to go but didn't dare. If he didn't want to, he wouldn't have come. But if he dared to go in, he wouldn't be hesitating at the last moment.
"After all, she and I are couple. If your Aunt Nicole isn't doing well, it pains me to see it."
Aurora smirked, "When she had someone beat you up back then, I also felt quite pained."
Dean glared at Aurora, always bringing up his painful memories.
Aurora suddenly felt much better and walked over to Dean. "Before I came, were you two planning how to get her out?"
Dean was surprised, "You really are smart, knowing everything. Well, your father is getting old and wants to reunite with his sister. It's only natural."
Aurora muttered, "I knew this father wouldn't be easy to deal with."
Nicole had previously conspired with Emily to kidnap Loren and throw her into the sea. Forgiving Nicole was impossible.
Just as she was thinking this, Aurora heard a familiar voice.
"Thank you, officer. Who's visiting my mom?"
Aurora looked up at Emily walking in from the outside. She was also there to visit Nicole.
Seeing Aurora, Emily was stunned. She looked at Dean, who was smoking, and asked, "Is it you two visiting?"
Dean and Aurora didn't say anything, just glanced at Emily and then ignored her.
Aurora asked Dean as if no one else was there, "What do you think?"
"Based on my many years of knowing your Aunt Nicole, if she gets out, she'll cause trouble for everyone. Percy probably doesn't want her out either."
Aurora teased, "Scared of getting beaten?"
Dean's mustache twitched with anger as Aurora kept hitting his sore spots.
Dean retorted proudly, "Am I afraid of her? We divorced long ago. She cheated, so she should be the one feeling guilty and scared, not me. Now she's your aunt. Do you want her out?"
"No." Aurora replied bluntly, not caring if Emily was listening.
Emily listened for a while, confused. "What aunt? What getting out? What are you two doing here?"
Dean and Aurora both glanced at Emily at the same time but still didn't respond, continuing their conversation.
Feeling ignored, Emily's face turned red with embarrassment and urgency.
At that moment, Nicole's voice came from the visiting room, crying out, "Alexander, why did it take you so long to find me?"
Nicole's voice was clear to Aurora even outside the door.
The scene of siblings reuniting was quite touching.
Emily heard the voice and ran inside. Aurora spoke to Dean, "I'll wait in the car."
With that, Aurora left.
About half an hour later, Alexander and Dean came out. Alexander's eyes were red, a big man, so emotional.
Aurora didn't ask anything else, just uttered, "Get in the car. I need to go back to the office."
Alexander hesitated to speak. After getting in the car, he opened his mouth, ready to speak, but the words seemed to catch in his throat, retreating each time.
Finally, Alexander sighed heavily and started talking to himself.
"Nicole and I grew up without parents, relying on each other. I remember the toughest times when we even scavenged from trash cans. Once, I got into a fight with a thug and was beaten badly. Nicole picked up a brick and hit that guy..."
Aurora drove while Alexander reminisced about the tough times with Nicole when they were kids.
They had been apart for nearly forty years. Blood ties were strong, and it was clear that Alexander was very emotional, having obviously cried earlier.
Aurora didn't comment, just listened as if she were an audience member.
When Alexander got emotional, he cried again. Dean handed him tissues and comforted him, "Life is better now. It's all in the past. Don't cry."
Alexander wiped his tears and hugged Dean, crying, "Dean, life is better now, but Nicole is still in prison. Seeing her so thin breaks my heart. How many more years does she have?"
Aurora replied calmly, "Ten more years."
Hearing it was ten more years, Alexander cried even harder, and Dean's eyes reddened too.
Two grown men hugging and crying was quite a sight.
Suddenly, an old lady crossed in front of the car, and Aurora braked sharply. Due to inertia, Dean and Alexander were thrown forward, their faces contorted.
Aurora glanced back and spoke indifferently, "Sorry!"
In the moment of danger, the two men instinctively held each other tightly. Once they calmed down, they quickly separated and sat properly.
Two grown men hugging was indeed a bit unseemly.
Aurora looked at them with disdain, "If Nicole behaves well, she can get a reduced sentence and get out early. Alexander, trying to gain my sympathy won't work. Just because you're my father doesn't mean I'll suddenly forgive Nicole when you cry. If she wants out, she has to earn it. Don't come to me. If you keep pushing me to get her out, you're looking for the wrong person."
Alexander didn't know the grievances she had suffered over the years or that Loren had almost been killed. She didn't hold grudges, but that didn't mean she would unconditionally tolerate it.
Aurora dropped them off and drove back to the office without another word.
Dean and Alexander stood at the White family villa entrance, watching Aurora leave.
Alexander muttered, "Look at the daughter you raised, heart harder than a rock."
Dean rolled his eyes, "Isn't she your daughter too? I think it's not about upbringing; it's about genes."
"I'm not that stubborn."
They looked at each other and spoke in unison, "She gets that from her mom."
At AJ Group.
Aurora arrived at the office, still troubled by the Nicole situation.
Linda walked in, "Ms. White, Mr. Taylor is here, in the reception room."
"Which Mr. Taylor?"
"Mr. Taylor from Taylor Group."
Aurora frowned. What kind of day was this, with people coming to give her trouble?
