Chapter 304: Who Told You to Marry a Cunning Wife
Todd wanted to keep struggling.
Lori's face darkened, and she snapped in a commanding tone, "Shut up and behave, or you'll regret it."
Todd really wanted to ask if she had read too many billionaire romance novels. Isn't this usually the male lead's line?
Before he could say anything, Lori gave him a look, and he immediately give up.
Lori was so fierce.
Lori carried the 130-pound Todd as if it were nothing, effortlessly walking out.
The restaurant entrance is bustling with people.
Usually, people saw men carrying women, so seeing a woman carrying a man was quite novel.
However, Lori carrying Todd didn't seem out of place at all.
A cool and beautiful woman carrying her husband, this scene immediately drew a lot of attention, with people whispering and laughing.
Todd felt so embarrassed that he buried his face in Lori's chest, making the scene look even more like a shy husband being coy.
"Wow, that woman is so cool, she's like an idol for us women."
"She's amazing, she can actually carry a man."
"Look, that man is blushing."
"I think they look so good together."
"Who says women are inferior to men? This woman is so cool and beautiful."
"She's definitely winning one for us women."
"That man is so lucky, I wish I could be carried by a beautiful woman too."
Everyone was talking, but Lori didn't pay attention to the chatter. She carried Todd and hailed a cab by the roadside.
"Don't take advantage of me, why are you burying your head?" Lori asked.
Todd lifted his head and replied, "It's kind of embarrassing with all these people staring at us." Then he buried his head again.
Lori teased, "Don't worry, with your pig face, most people wouldn't recognize you."
The taxi driver, seeing this scene, also found it quite novel.
"Miss, where to?" The driver asked with a smile.
"Meadowbrook Villas." Lori put Todd in first, then got in herself.
The driver glanced at Todd through the rearview mirror, and Todd silently turned his face away.
Seeing Todd not speaking, curled up in the corner looking pitiful, Lori patted his shoulder: "Don't be shy, I'll take responsibility for you."
Todd was even more speechless.
Why did that sound so misleading?
Hearing that, the driver was so shocked by this statement that he slammed on the brakes at a red light.
Due to the sudden stop, Todd was thrown forward, and he heard the sickening crack of his broken hand once more.
Lori quickly pulled him back. Todd's hand was limp, and she shook it: "Did the other hand break too?"
Lori let go, and Todd's hand droppedl back, swinging loosely back and forth.
Todd glanced at Lori, almost depressed, and forced a smile that was worse than crying: "Thank you so much, now I have a matching pair of broken hands."
The driver quickly spoke, "Sorry, are you okay?"
Todd lifted his bruised face, looking utterly defeated, "It can't get any worse, please just drive slower, thank you."
The taxi driver stifled a laugh: "Okay."
This time he drove very slowly, taking nearly two hours to reach Meadowbrook Villas.
By then, it was already early morning.
Todd was done with the embarrassment, so he refused to let Lori carry him this time, resulting in this scene.
Todd limped inside, his dislocated hand swinging back and forth with each step, while Lori followed beside him.
"Did I go too hard on you?" Lori asked.
Todd stopped, frantically moving his shoulders, his two dislocated hands swinging around.
Too hard? Isn't it obvious?
"Sorry!" Lori smiled apologetically, "I'll be gentler next time."
Next time?
He didn't dare to have a next time.
Todd continued walking to the hall, shouting, "Gary, come out."
"What's with the yelling in the middle of the night?" Gary had just finished stitching up John's wound and hadn't even had a chance to drink water when Todd arrived.
Seeing Todd's face, Gary teased, "Botched plastic surgery?"
"I'm so handsome, do I need plastic surgery?" Todd sat down and said, "Take a look at my hands, it's dislocated. Do whatever you need to do. If you can't fix it, I'll just hold the culprit responsible."
Gary looked at Lori, then at Todd, and sighed, "Can you two give me a break? You're going to wear me out. You pay me one salary, but I do double the work. I just patched up John, and now it's you."
Gary suddenly felt like going back to the island for some peace and quiet.
Todd asked, "What happened to Mr. Lewis?"
"He hurt his leg, lost a lot of blood, and hasn't woken up yet. I just stitched him up, and he's resting," Gary said while examining Todd's injuries, which were all external.
After the examination, Gary gave Lori a thumbs up: "Ms. Hernandez, you're really fierce."
"You're too kind, I only used thirty percent of my strength," Lori replied modestly, taking it as a compliment. "Mr. Collins, can his hand be fixed?"
Gary suddenly felt a bit schadenfreude and finally understood why Todd wanted to avoid Lori whenever he heard her name.
Such a fierce woman, he would want to avoid her too. And her thinking was quite unconventional.
"It can be..." Before Gary finished his sentence, Todd gave him a look, and Gary changed his tune: "But it won't get better quickly; it needs time to heal. During this period, Ms. Hernandez, please go easy on him."
Gary didn't want to be cleaning up their messes every few days. If they got hurt or disabled, he'd be busy again.
Todd gave Gary a grateful look.
Lori breathed a sigh of relief: "If he didn't provoke me, I wouldn't have hit him..."
Her stomach started hurting again.
"I need to go to the bathroom. Mr. Collins, you take care of him first." Lori spoke.
External injuries were easy to treat. Just pop the bones back in place, put on a cast, and bandage it up.
By the time Lori came out of the bathroom, Todd was already in a cast, half-lying on the sofa, and Gary was tidying up the medical kit.
Todd looked at his bandaged hands and asked, "How am I supposed to go to the bathroom or eat?"
"You'll need someone to feed you." Gary replied, giving Todd a look as Lori approached.
Todd looked at Lori: "You hurt me like this. Shouldn't you take some responsibility?"
Lori looked at Todd like he was an idiot: "Did you get hit so hard you lost your mind? Have you ever seen me take responsibility for anyone? This is all on you. Since you're fine, I'm leaving."
Todd gritted his teeth: "What a heartless woman."
"Bye-bye!" Lori walked away coolly, and as she left, she said with schadenfreude, "A long time to heal, haha, finally some peace and quiet."
Todd was speechless.
After resting for a while, Todd went to check on John.
They really were brothers in misfortune.
One had a leg injury.
The other had a hand injury.
When John woke up and saw Todd with both hands in casts, he asked in surprise, "How did you get hurt?"
"How else? That crazy woman beat me up," Todd sighed and asked, "Mr. Lewis, what about you? Did Mrs. Lewis go after you?"
This was purely a joke.
"I stabbed myself," John replied. "To repay Chris's favor, we're even now. This way, he won't keep bothering my wife."
Todd gave a thumbs up: "Mr. Lewis, you're amazing."
This method of dealing with a rival in love was really worth learning, though it was a bit tough on the legs.
Gary and Summer came in, each holding a few bottles of medicine.
"Daddy, you're awake," Summer spoke, very worried.
"I'm fine now." John replied, patting his son's head.
Gary voiced, "Don't count your chickens just yet. Your leg is saved, but who knows if you'll get punished when you get back."
Todd, hearing this, gossiped, "Gary, what do you mean?"
Gary looked at John: "Before you called me, your wife called me. Don't blame me this time. You and your son used me as an excuse without discussing it first. I fell into your wife's trap and got tricked. She knows you two lied."
John instinctively touched his knee. He had taken it upon himself to settle the score with Chris and got hurt in the process. With Aurora's temper, this time he might really be in trouble.
Todd uttered, "Gary, how could you put Mr. Lewis in such a position? This time, he might not just have to kneel; he might have to kneel for three days."
It sounded like concern, but the tone was more like enjoying the drama.
"Who told him to marry such a cunning wife." Gary replied.
Todd could relate: "These two sisters, one is physically strong, the other is super smart. The future looks bleak."
