Chapter 225 The Items in the Redwood Box

What made John the happiest was that the kid was Aurora's. Didn't matter if it was a boy or a girl, as long as it was their kid, he was over the moon.

John didn't even need a paternity test. He just knew the kid was his.

"Gary, let's head to The White Villa." John was itching to see Aurora and the kids, but then he paused and said, "Wait, I can't just show up like this. I need to get ready. This is a big deal, recognizing two sons. I can't rush it. I'll go tomorrow."

"I've never seen you..." Gary paused, then continued, "this excited."

John was buzzing with excitement. He had every reason to feel on top of the world. He had his wife back, two sons, and two daughters on the way.

John told Gary, "When you get to where I am, you'll know what this feels like."

Gary replied casually, "Don't worry, I won't end up like you, not recognizing my own son after having him around for so long."

John felt a bit deflated hearing that.

Gary added, "The baby in Ms. White's belly might not be a daughter. If it's two more sons, then congrats."

"Don't jinx it. Aurora's definitely having daughters."

At The White Villa, Aurora hadn't been back long when Jack showed up.

Seeing Jack, Dean paused, almost not recognizing him, and forced a smile. "You've grown taller and look quite spirited."

Next to him, Aurora said casually, "Jack's only been gone a few months, and he's already grown up. How much taller could he get?"

Dean smiled awkwardly. "Are you hungry? I can ask the maid to cook something."

"We've already eaten." Jack still didn't like Dean. He didn't want to come back to The White Villa, but he did because Aurora did. Then he turned to Summer. It was his first time meeting Summer. "Aurora, is this Summer?"

"Yes." Aurora waved. "Summer, this is Jack."

"Hello." Summer wasn't as sweet-talking as Loren. He had more of a boyish charm and just greeted politely.

Jack said, "This kid is definitely yours, looks just like you."

Aurora didn't think Summer looked like her, but Loren did more. Thinking of Loren, she started to miss him. In her rush to return, she hadn't gone to the Robinson Estate to pick up Loren.

It was late, so Aurora asked Dean and Summer to wash up and rest first, while she called Jack to the side room. "Jack, tell me the truth, what task did Richard give you?"

Aurora had been feeling uneasy and worried, so she decided to ask clearly.

Jack shook his head. "Richard didn't say, just told me to come. As for the task, he said I'd know when the time comes. Aurora, why are you suddenly asking this?"

"I left Richard's house last night and found someone following me."

"Could it be someone from The Shadow of Darkness organization?" Jack said, "I heard Alexander was taken by the police. Maybe they're looking to cause trouble for Richard. Aurora, I'm a bit worried about leaving Richard alone there. Christopher and Robert are not easy to deal with."

Aurora had also heard from Todd about Alexander being taken by the police. The Shadow of Darkness organization probably wouldn't have good days ahead as John wouldn't let them off easily.

Aurora pondered and said, "Jack, no matter what Richard asks you to do next, you must inform me first. Don't act rashly."

"Aurora, what are you worried about?" Jack joked, "Are you afraid Richard will harm me?"

Aurora directly spoke up, "I don't quite trust this suddenly appearing Richard. Anyway, listen to me, and discuss everything with me before making any decisions."

Aurora never forgot the first time she saw Richard at her mother's cemetery and the bouquet of flowers he placed in front of her mother's grave. Richard had bought a bouquet of lilies, just like Dean. Yet her mother was allergic to them. If Richard truly had a deep sibling bond with her mother, why didn't he know this?

Later, when she saw him at the hospital, the first thing Richard did was ask her to avenge her mother, saying the enemy was Alexander, and then handed over Wolfpack to her.

Then, to save her, he lied to Alexander, saying she was Alexander's daughter, only to later denied it.

The more she thought about it, the more terrifying it seemed. Aurora always felt that things weren't that simple.

"Alright, Aurora, if Richard contacts me, I'll definitely tell you," Jack said, "Why don't you get some rest? It's so late."

"Okay, but don't be too careless." Aurora said, "By the way, you go get Mom's belongings back tomorrow."

"Alright, I'll go first thing in the morning."

The next day.

Jack went early to find the nurse from the hospital and retrieve the mahogany box. He hadn't even sat down when he received a call from Richard, who asked him to check out a Wolfpack warehouse in Silvercrest City.

Aurora was still asleep. Jack thought it was just a quick look at the warehouse, nothing major, so he didn't tell Aurora and left after putting down the mahogany box.

Aurora, who was a heavy sleeper, woke up around ten, and Loren had been brought over by Ashley.

Summer and Loren, the two brothers, hadn't seen each other for a long time. Wherever Summer went, Loren followed.

Summer went to the kitchen to make porridge for Aurora, and Loren followed him in while asking constantly what the island was like, whether the training was tough, and if it was tiring. He was very curious about the island.

When Aurora came downstairs, she happened to hear the two kids talking, and her heart skipped a beat. It seemed her younger son also wanted to go to the island.

"Aurora, you're awake," Ashley said with a smile. "It's only been a short while, and you've lost weight again."

Aurora pinched her own cheek. "Ashley, I've gained over 4 pounds."

"You've only gained 4 pounds while pregnant? That's nothing. When I was pregnant with Leo, I went from 40 pounds to 72 pounds, gained weight all over." Ashley said, "When you're pregnant, you need to eat well and sleep well. As for your figure, you can manage it after giving birth."

"Okay, I'll listen to you." Aurora said, afraid Ashley would nag more. She then noticed the mahogany box on the table and asked, "Did Jack bring this back? Where is he?"

Summer came out of the kitchen. "Jack left after putting the box down. Mommy, I made this porridge for you. Try it."

Loren added, "Mommy, I helped too. I cut the meat in it."

"Yes, you're both Mommy's good boys." Aurora kissed each of them on the forehead before sitting down to eat. The porridge was really good, very appetizing.

"Sweethearts, it's delicious, so good." Aurora said while eating. "By the way, sweethearts, help Mommy find an axe to open this box."

Taking a glance at the lock on the box, Summer said, "Mommy, no need for an axe. I can open it with a needle." He then found a needle and quickly unlocked the box.

Aurora was surprised. "Sweetheart, they even teach you lock-picking on the island? I didn't know Nightfall's business was so broad, even taking on lock-picking jobs."

Hearing Aurora's words, Summer felt a bit helpless. "Mommy, we never take jobs under ten million dollars."

Aurora said, "That's not right. Business is hard to come by these days. You can't just refuse jobs just because they pay less."

As she spoke, she opened the mahogany box. The box was old, and a musty smell wafted out as soon as it was opened.

Inside, there wasn't anything particularly valuable, just a thick stack of letters, ninety-six in total, each with a date on it.

One letter per month, for eight years, ninety-six letters.

Seeing these letters, Aurora instinctively thought of Alexander. Could these be letters her mother wrote to Alexander?

She couldn't wait to open the most recent one, written the month her mother passed away. When she saw the contents of the letter, Aurora paused for a moment.
