Chapter 188 Hospitalization for Pregnancy Preservation
John's face turned dark. He'd never seen this woman before. He always wore a mask in public, so how could she claim to have a secret crush on him?
John shot Todd a cold glance, then looked at the woman, his voice icy, "I know it is impossible to get the truth from anyone in The Shadow of Darkness, but there's no way I'm letting you leave here alive."
"I know, so I never planned on leaving alive." The woman looked up at John and smiled arrogantly. "Even if I die, it will be worth it to see the true face of the leader of Nightfall with my own eyes."
John knew she wouldn't spill the truth, no matter how much he grilled her.
"Take care of her. Dump her in the open sea." John ordered his men without hesitation.
If it had been a man, he might've thrown a few punches. But since it was a woman, and John had a rule against hitting women, the only outcome for harming Aurora was death.
John and Todd walked out of the basement.
"Boss, don't you think today's events are a bit too strange? Something feels off."
John gave Todd a sidelong glance and snorted, "Looks like your brain is still working."
John didn't buy a single word the woman had said.
The reason for killing Aurora was too far-fetched.
Todd said, "Then why didn't you ask more questions, Boss?"
"Even if we kill her, we won't get any useful info. No need to waste time." John's eyes narrowed slightly. "Todd, do you think Jennifer..."
John didn't finish his sentence, but Todd got it, "You're worried Jennifer is part of The Shadow of Darkness. Boss, if that's true, then what happened years ago was totally a setup. They took Jennifer not to threaten you, but for some other reason."
"Jennifer Johnson..." John murmured repeatedly. "The person behind The Shadow of Darkness also has the last name Johnson. Jennifer and Sandra are both orphans. Could they be related..."
John's brow furrowed again as he kept suspecting.
There were too many things that didn't add up. Jennifer had been missing for so many years, and since her return, she hadn't even spoken a single truth.
Todd also got serious. "Boss, we've known Jennifer for over a decade. She grew up with us. That's a fact that she and her sister came from the orphanage. When Jennifer had her accident, you directly funded Sandra. You covered all her expenses abroad. If Jennifer hadn't had that accident, you two would be married by now."
With over a decade of friendship, Todd also found this a tough situation.
John fell silent and lit a cigarette, his gaze deep as he looked out the window.
They didn't notice that their conversation was overheard by a third person.
Jennifer had returned from outside. Seeing John talking with Todd, she quietly approached and hid behind the door to eavesdrop.
She clenched her hands tightly, knowing her secret was about to be exposed.
As smart as John was, he would definitely see through her flawed words.
And those words were intentionally said by Jennifer.
She knew a secret couldn't be kept forever. Moreover, the enmity between The Shadow of Darkness and Nightfall had deepened over the years.
Jennifer quietly left and walked outside the courtyard. She made a phone call. "Stop all actions immediately. No one is to trouble Aurora anymore. And get back the one hundred million from Lori."
Jennifer's money wasn't so easily taken.
"Yes, Ms. Johnson."
Just as Jennifer was about to hang up, another stern male voice came through the phone, "When are you coming back? How long are you going to keep this up?"
"I'm not messing around," Jennifer said, her eyes filled with determination. "Dad, I don't have much time left. Let me be willful this once. I've listened to you and stayed in The Shadow of Darkness for five years, and I missed my chance with John. Now he's with someone else. I can't live with more regrets."
"Jennifer..."
Without waiting for him to finish, Jennifer hung up.
She had to win back John's heart.
This was her last wish.

At the Robinson family home, Aurora sat in the yard, lost in thought. Ashley brought over some chicken soup. "Aurora, it's freshly made. Just finish it; it's good for your skin."
Ashley had been into beauty and skincare lately.
"Okay, thanks, godmother," Aurora forced a smile.
Ashley asked, "Aurora, you've seemed preoccupied since you came back. Did something happen? Loren said you went to your mom's family. Did something happen there?"
"No, we turned back halfway," Aurora said. "Godmother, I'm fine, maybe just a bit tired."
Aurora didn't mention what happened at Villa Kitchen to avoid worrying Ashley.
"Alright, then drink the soup and get some rest." Ashley asked, "By the way, has Mrs. Lewis woken up?"
"Yes, she's in the hospital, but she suffered a severe head injury and has forgotten many things."
"I see. Then your wedding with John will have to be postponed again."
"No rush."
"How can you not be in a rush? You're pregnant."
Aurora was surprised; she hadn't mentioned her pregnancy.
Ashley said, "Loren told me that he was going to have a little sister."
So that's how she knew.
"I just did a check-up this morning and confirmed that it's twins. I planned to tell you once the pregnancy was stable."
"Twins? That's wonderful news." Ashley was overjoyed.
"Who's having twins?" Leo came in from outside and overheard.
"Aurora is pregnant," Ashley said. "Look at you, Aurora is already pregnant again, and you still haven't brought me a daughter-in-law."
"Mom, it's not that I don't want to, but Sophia doesn't agree."
Upon hearing his words, Ashley was delighted. "Who's Sophia?"
"She's the one from The Garcia family with a really bad temper," Leo said, frustrated. "Women these days are so picky; it's too hard to get along with her."
Ashley thought for a moment before remembering who Sophia was.
"Leo, you have unique taste. If you really marry that girl, you'll be a victim of domestic violence."
Hearing this, Aurora couldn't help but spit out her chicken soup.
Ashley truly had remarkable insight.
With Sophia's temper, she could easily get into a fight with Leo.
Leo pouted. "Mom, you're underestimating your son."
Ashley said, "You're so weak, so how could you handle such a fiery wife?"
Aurora raised her hand and chimed in with a smile, "Godmother, you're absolutely right. I tried to advise Leo before, but he wouldn't listen."
"Aurora, even if you don't help, please just don't make things worse." Leo clenched his fist and vowed, "No matter how much you all doubt me, if I don't marry Sophia in this lifetime, I'll consider it my loss."
Ashley quickly said, "Leo, don't do anything rash."
"Then we'll wait and see..." Aurora didn't finish her sentence when she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen, and a warm flow gushed out. Aurora panicked immediately.
Ashley noticed something was wrong. "Aurora, what's wrong?"
"My stomach hurts." Aurora clutched her belly. "Quick, take me to the hospital."
