Chapter 247 John is Quietly Changing
Todd's words had a profound impact on Summer, and it even influenced Summer's entire life.
Summer never thought Todd had any special talents or made significant contributions to Nightfall.
Todd was all brains and no brawn. Not only could he not beat Lori, but even a few small-time thugs could take him down.
However, catching Todd was no easy task.
This wasn't just because Todd was good at defense but also because John had assigned two secret guards to protect him.
As long as there was no life-threatening danger, the guards would not reveal themselves.
Todd knew he had thoroughly offended Lori this time, so he slipped away to avoid trouble, and no one knew where he went.
At the hospital.
After the surgery, Dean was sent to the ward, and the anesthesia hadn't worn off yet.
Aurora stayed at the hospital to take care of him. As for Richard, she didn't bother to ask; John would handle him. Once Richard was caught, Jack could be released, and Aurora could be at ease.
In the following days, Aurora shuttled between Meadowbrook Villa and the hospital. Dean had already regained consciousness but he was very weak due to excessive blood loss and needed time to recover.
Fortunately, Richard's stab was off-target; otherwise, even Gary couldn't have saved him.
Every time Dean thought about the stabbing, he felt a lingering fear as he had almost died.
Aurora asked him, "Why didn't you just leave? You've never liked me much since we were kids, always preferring Emily. I'm not even your biological daughter. If you died for me, wouldn't it be unworthy?"
Dean touched his forehead and smiled, "I didn't think that much at the time. Who would have thought the guy had a knife? Don't get too moved. If I had known about the knife, I would have run faster than you without your telling me. "
Aurora, who had initially been somewhat moved and wanted to express thanks, felt it was unnecessary after hearing Dean's words. The emotional moment was completely disrupted.
Aurora felt a bit helpless. "That's more like you." As she said, she peeled an apple and handed it to Dean. "Take your time eating; I'm going out for a bit."
"At least cut it into smaller pieces. How am I supposed to eat such a big one?"
"You hurt your abdomen, not your teeth. Chew it slowly yourself." Aurora waved her hand and took Dean's dirty clothes with her as she left.
Dean's voice came from behind. "If you're busy, you can have Delta come to the hospital to take care of me."
Aurora didn't reply, and just after throwing away the blood-stained clothes, she called Delta to bring some toiletries and a change of clothes.
Despite Dean's claim that he would run faster than anyone, Aurora knew he said that to avoid making her feel guilty.
Aurora washed her hands in the restroom and came out to find John had arrived. She walked up and asked, "Did the police say when Jack can be released?"
"How's your dad?" John didn't answer her question.
"He's fine, even able to joke with me." Aurora circled back to the topic. "I asked you, when can Jack be released?"
John's expression was serious, and he didn't speak for a long time, giving Aurora a bad feeling. She asked, "What's wrong? Is there a complication?"
"Richard insists Jack is his accomplice." John said while frowning tightly. "He's trying to share the blame. Jack is his only bargaining chip and his leverage for negotiation."
Aurora was furious. "What does Richard want? How can he drag Jack into this?"
"Jack is Richard's nephew. Even if we claim Jack is innocent, there's not enough evidence."
Aurora suddenly thought of something and asked, "Can you investigate Jack's background? Richard has no siblings; Jack and Lori are definitely not his nephews. This might be a breakthrough and could reveal Richard's motive for framing Jack."
"Indeed, I'll have someone look into it right away."
To put Aurora at ease, John immediately ordered Nightfall's information department to investigate Jack and Lori's backgrounds.
After all, the hospital was a place full of potential infections. John didn't dare to let Aurora stay there long and sent her back to Meadowbrook Villa to rest.
Aurora had just arrived at Meadowbrook Villa when Lori showed up. "Aurora, where's Todd? Do you know where he is? I need to settle the score with him."
Seeing Lori in a hurry, Aurora rubbed her temples, feeling quite helpless. "Didn't you say you'd forgive him this time?"
"But I didn't say I'd let him off the hook." Lori grabbed Aurora's arm. "You're my sister, you're the best. Can you bear to see me being bullied?"
Aurora was amused by her words and couldn't help but remind her, "Lori, I think the one being bullied is Todd. Even the police said so. Todd was just defending himself."
Lori immediately let go of Aurora. "Aurora, you don't love me anymore. We're done."
This really proved the saying that women were fickle.
Aurora felt a bit helpless. "I really don't know where Todd went."
"Then ask John. He must know."
Aurora pondered and said, "Lori, do you think if Todd really wanted to hide from you, he would let me know? If John knew, I definitely would know, so Todd definitely wouldn't tell John."
Lori looked skeptical. "Aurora, are you sure you're not fooling me?"
"How could I fool you? " Aurora remembered something and continued, "By the way, the Smith family is having a wedding on the 8th. Todd will definitely show up."
Amelia and Daniel's wedding would be held at the Grand Hotel on the 8th, and the Smith family had already sent her the invitation.
Lori nodded. "Alright, Aurora, I'll go with you then."
"Why don't you and Ava move in? You can't stay in a hotel forever." Aurora tried to fool her. "Todd often stays at Meadowbrook Villa for a few days."
"Okay, I'll go tell Ava, and we'll move in." Lori took a few steps and then asked, "We won't be bothering you and John, will we?"
"Of course not. There are dozens of rooms; you two can stay wherever you like."
Lori sighed, "Aurora, I've made up my mind. I'll stick with you from now on."
With that, she left in a hurry.
Summer came out of the training room. "Mommy, are you trying to set up Todd and Lori?"
Aurora gave a mischievous smile. "I'm also curious about whether Todd has any sexual dysfunction."
Summer seemed to sense something. "Mommy, didn't you notice that with Todd's interference, Lori has completely forgotten about Richard?"
Aurora, reminded by Summer's words, suddenly realized and was a bit incredulous.
Did Todd really have feelings for Lori? Otherwise, why would he go to such lengths to console Lori?
Although Todd used a quite strange method, it achieved the desired effect and worked well.
Richard had raised Lori, and now that his true nature was revealed, Lori, with her carefree personality, might not show it on her face, but she was undoubtedly feeling heavy-hearted in private.

Summer felt sorry for Todd. "I don't know if they're a good match, but I do know Todd will get beaten up a lot. Domestic violence is inevitable."
"Sweetie, don't you think it's quite entertaining?" Aurora made up her mind. "Let's set them up together."
While Aurora was planning how to play matchmaker for the two, news came from the hospital that Helen had woken up.
Upon hearing the news, Aurora wanted to go to the hospital with John, but John firmly insisted she stay home.
Aurora sensed that John was afraid of something, yet she had no clear clue.
