Chapter 51 Let's Break Up
The announced list included Aurora and Sandra Johnson.
Aurora's selection was expected by everyone, but this Sandra left people completely baffled.
Donna asked, "Aurora, do we have someone named Sandra in our company? Which department is she from? How come I don't know her?"
That's right, the other person selected was someone nobody knew or had ever seen.
Sandra was not a company employee, yet she was selected for a spot at Lewis Group headquarters under the guise of being one.
Naturally, people started to wonder who this Sandra was.
Aurora shook her head; she didn't know Sandra either, and she hadn't even heard of Sandra.
Suddenly, she remembered what Rose had said earlier that one spot was pre-determined. Could it be this Sandra?
Looking at the name "Sandra," Aurora inexplicably felt a bit of tightness in her chest, very uncomfortable.
Starting tomorrow, Aurora wouldn't need to come to work here anymore. Today's task was to hand over her current work.
Having worked here for several years, she felt a bit reluctant to leave.
"Aurora, don't forget about me in the future. When you get to headquarters, remember me," Donna said, hugging Aurora reluctantly.
"Okay." Aurora smiled. "If there's any good news, I won't forget you."
"You're so loyal." Donna laughed and said, "Come on, let's celebrate tonight."
Aurora was about to speak when her phone suddenly rang.
It was a message on Telegram.
John had sent it, asking her to meet at Rose Restaurant at 8 PM.
What must come will come.
Aurora hesitated and replied with one word: [Okay!]
"What, your boyfriend?" Donna asked.
"Yeah." Aurora nodded, smiling apologetically. "He asked me out for dinner tonight."
Donna sighed and teased, "Oh, I'm so jealous of you. Your life is just perfect, with both love and career going so well. It's really enviable."
"Your good luck in love will come soon." Aurora smiled. "I've finished handing over my work, so I'll head out now."
Aurora felt that she and John really needed to meet and have a good talk.
This situation couldn't continue.
It was better to rip the band-aid off quickly; breaking up wasn't a big deal.
Aurora had just left the company when Helen arrived, missing her.
Aurora went back to her apartment to change clothes, put on light makeup, and mentally prepared herself before heading to Rose Restaurant.
Night fell.
The lights were dazzling.
When Aurora arrived, John was already there.
The restaurant was very quiet today, with few customers. John had booked a private room by the window, offering a great view of Silvercrest City's nightscape.
John, ever the gentleman, pulled out a chair for Aurora. "Hungry? Let's order first."
"Not really, no rush."
Aurora smiled, looking at John in front of her. Honestly, she couldn't find anything wrong with John, especially his looks, which were one in a million.
Just for that face, if they ever argued, looking at that stunning face would probably dissipate any anger.
Before coming, Aurora had thought of many opening lines, but in the end, she chose the simplest and most direct one.
"John, let's break up."
Aurora looked at John, her expression calm and serious, not joking.
When it came to relationships, Aurora never dragged things out.
She could break up with Daniel, and she could part ways amicably with John.
She might feel sad and might regret it, but Aurora knew exactly what she was doing now.
In this relationship, she felt inferior. How could an unequal love continue?
It was better to resolve it quickly.
John looked like he had misheard. He was being dumped?
Last night, he had sensed something was off with Aurora's mood, but hearing the words "break up" from her mouth still shocked him.
If people found out that the head of the Lewis family in Silvercrest City was dumped, it would be a great joke, and no one would believe it.
But it was the truth.
After a brief moment of surprise, John quickly composed himself, his eyes narrowing deeply. "Reason."
Anyone would ask for a reason when dumped out of the blue.
Aurora had already thought of what to say. She didn't plan to hide or make excuses but spoke directly, "Did you see today's news? Last night, someone caused a scene at the banquet, spreading rumors that I had a child out of wedlock. Actually, it's not a rumor. Five years ago, I did have a child."
Saying it all in one breath, Aurora felt a sense of relief, not as difficult as she had imagined.
Although John had his suspicions, hearing Aurora admit it was still hard to bear left him stunned.
Before Aurora spoke, he thought no matter what reason she gave, he would reject it and not agree to break up. But having a child out of wedlock, he couldn't find any excuse to refute it.
Aurora had a child; she had deceived him from the start.
John's face showed a hint of anger.
Aurora secretly breathed a sigh of relief, her tone deliberately light, and said, "I admit I lied to you at first. Initially, I was just trying things out with you, without any long-term plans or thoughts of marriage. After spending some time together, I feel we're not quite suitable, so let's break up."
Aurora had initiated the relationship.
Aurora also initiated the breakup.
John's face darkened, and his hand clenched into a fist, struggling to control his emotions.
Aurora had said everything; what else could he say?
Aurora forced a smile. It was the first time she had seen John look so upset.
"John, I know I owe you, but feelings can't be forced. Let's consider this meal our last one before breaking up. I'll treat."
Aurora took out the token of their love that John had given her and the bracelet Helen had given her, returning them to John. "I hope you find someone truly suitable."
Aurora's calm and straightforward attitude made John's anger rise even more.
What an amicable breakup.
John suddenly stood up, staring intently at Aurora. "No need. I didn't lose out either. We're even."
Aurora understood; they had slept together, so John, indeed, didn't lose out.
Aurora asked, "So, you're agreeing to break up?"
"Amicable breakup."
As the head of the Lewis family, being dumped was already embarrassing enough. Clinging on and refusing to break up wasn't his style.
That "amicable breakup" was almost squeezed out from between John's teeth.
Aurora forced a stiff smile. They hadn't even started eating, and the two parted on bad terms.
Aurora sat alone in the private room for a while before leaving.
The news of their breakup quickly reached Todd.
When Todd learned that Aurora had initiated the breakup, he was shocked.
'No way.'
'John got dumped?'
'The head of the Lewis family, John, got dumped?'
It took Todd a while to recover, glancing at John across from him, who was drinking heavily, trying to get drunk.
"Boss, did you really break up with Miss White? Why?"
It was so sudden.
John was so excellent; he shouldn't have been dumped.
John naturally couldn't mention Aurora's child out of wedlock or that she had never taken the relationship seriously from the start.
John was angry that Aurora had a child out of wedlock and deceived him, , but he was even angrier about Aurora's attitude towards the relationship.
John drank one glass after another, his face looking terrible, exuding an aura that kept people away.
"Boss, did Miss White become the adopted daughter of the Robinson family and look down on you for driving for a ride-hailing service? Why don't you reveal your identity as the head of the Lewis family to her? She'll change her mind immediately."
John gave Todd a cold look.
Todd wisely said, "Boss, drink. I'll drink with you. We won't stop until we're drunk."
A heartbroken man was not to be messed with.
The two had been fine, and suddenly, they broke up.
Todd was shocked, and Helen was also surprised.
But John ordered that no one was allowed to contact Aurora.
John still had his pride.
Since their parting at Rose Restaurant, Aurora and John hadn't seen each other again.
The next time Aurora heard news about John was a week later.
And it was bad news.
