Chapter 243 Lori Made Someone Cry
John had no clue where Aurora's mom was buried, but that was an easy fix.
He quickly dialed up Dean to get the information.
Dean was actually at Wendy's grave at that moment, paying his respects. He'd been thinking about Aurora's marriage and decided to visit Wendy to share his thoughts.
Dean had no idea Aurora had been kidnapped.
Just as he placed the flowers down, his phone buzzed.
He pulled it out and saw John's name on the screen.
Dean was a bit surprised but then smiled and said to Wendy's grave, "Hey Wendy, look, our son-in-law's calling. Hold on, I'll take this."
He didn't pick up right away, wanting to play it cool and not seem too eager.
If John knew Dean was stalling, he'd be pissed.
After a few seconds, Dean couldn't wait any longer and answered, "John, you're calling so early. What's up?"
"Which cemetery is Mom in?" John cut straight to the chase, then clarified, "Aurora's mom."
Dean was confused. "It's at the intersection of Harmony Road, John. How'd you know I was at the cemetery?"
"You're at the cemetery?" John paused, stunned.
"Yeah, just got here." Dean replied.
What a coincidence.
"Then find a place to hide. I'm heading over now." John didn't want to freak Dean out with the kidnapping news.
Judging by the time, Richard and Aurora should be arriving at the cemetery soon. If they bumped into each other, it could get messy.
After hunging up, John sped towards Harmony Road.
Todd, who was with him, said, "What a coincidence! Dean's at the cemetery too."
John replied, "Call Sam and tell him to bring more people to the cemetery."
Todd replied, "Got it. Good thing Mrs. Lewis left clues this time, or we'd still be searching."
Meanwhile.
Lori and Ava had caught Christopher and were roughing him up, trying to get information on Richard's whereabouts.
Christopher, beaten and bruised, was almost in tears. "That's all I know. After Richard left the motel with Aurora, I don't know where they went."
Lori cracked her knuckles and exchanged a look with Ava. "Guess we didn't hit hard enough. Let's keep going."
Ava, always efficient, grabbed Christopher's shirt and punched him again.
Christopher shouted, "Not the face! If you hit my face again, I'll be really mad."
"Show me how mad you are," Lori taunted, pulling out an onion and slicing it thin, the smell filling the air.
Christopher had a bad feeling. "What are you two gonna do?"
Lori smiled innocently. "Give you a taste."
She held Christopher down and rubbed the onion around his eyes and nose.
This time, Christopher really cried.
His eyes were red and teary, and the onion made it hard to breathe.
This trick was brutal.
Christopher shouted, "I'll talk! I heard Richard say he was going to visit Wendy's grave. He must be at the cemetery."
Ava chuckled at Lori's antics and gave her a thumbs up. "Where'd you learn that trick?"
"From Loren. Trust me, it's pretty eye-watering." Lori pouted and glanced at Christopher. "You could've just spilled the beans earlier. Men are such masochists."
Christopher, confused, asked, "What do you mean?"
Lori mocked, "I mean you men always enjoy a bit of suffering."
Christopher felt a bit desperate. "Can you take the onion out of my nose? I've told you everything I know."
Lori smirked, "When have you ever seen me keep a promise? We've known each other forever, and you still don't get me."
Lori was known for doing whatever she felt like, never sticking to the rules.
Suddenly, she switched gears. "Tell me everything about Jack, and I'll let you go. Mr. Lee is toast. Once he's caught, Wolfpack is yours. Ava and I will step back. Deal?"
It sounded too good to be true. Christopher hesitated and asked, "Can I trust you? Besides, even without you two, there's still Robert. His dad's in Wolfpack too and has a lot of loyal followers. If something happens to Richard, I won't have any support unless you two help me take over Wolfpack."
"You wish." Lori sneered, "You're in my hands, and you still want to negotiate? Are you serious?"
Then she turned to Ava. "Ava, you stay here and watch him. I'm heading to the cemetery. If you get bored, have some fun with him. There's a feather duster here; tickling his feet works wonders. If he still doesn't talk, use the onion for a face mask. And there's mustard; rubbing that on his eyes is quite the experience."
Christopher was terrified.
Even the usually stoic Ava laughed, "Got it."
At the cemetery.
Dean was puzzled by John's call. He didn't understand why he needed to hide while paying respects to his late wife.
Dean chuckled and shrugged it off, continuing his conversation with Wendy.
Meanwhile, at the cemetery gate.
Richard parked the van and dragged Aurora out. "Let's go."
It wasn't a holiday, so the place was nearly empty. It was quiet, and the morning fog made the sky look gloomy.
Aurora said while being dragged along, "The closer I get to my mom's grave, the more I feel like something inside me is about to burst."
Her words were pretty eerie.
Remembering last night, Richard stared into her eyes. "Do you really miss your mom right now?"
"Really miss her, and I feel like crying." Aurora looked towards her mom's tombstone, shivering, and said mysteriously, "Richard, I feel like I'm almost home. You're really here to keep me company."
In the cemetery, Aurora's words sent chills down Richard's spine.
Aurora gave Richard a creepy smile, then walked towards the tombstone, muttering, "I'm home now, Richard. Come on, it's your first time here. I'll make you some pasta."
Anyone else would have been scared off by now.
Seeing Richard wasn't following, Aurora turned around, raising her bound hands to beckon. "Richard, come on, it's just up ahead."
