Chapter 422 Lori's Body Has a Problem

Ever since Wade got caught, Rex had been missing in action. Why was he popping up now?

Aurora thought, 'Am I imagining things?'

"Aurora?" Wendy called out. "What did you see?"

"Mom, I thought I saw someone I knew. It's nothing, let's go." Aurora pushed the stroller and said, "Mom, could you take Trey and Jax to the White Villa? I need to swing by the store."

"Sure thing. A woman needs her own career. I'll handle the kids," Wendy replied. "Besides, taking the kids back will give those folks something to do instead of bickering all the time."

Alexander had been causing a scene lately, always picking fights. They argued every day, with bigger blowouts every few days.

"Mom, you and Dad can't keep going on like this. Are you planning to argue until you're old?"

Mentioning Alexander made Wendy's face grim. "He's just bored and looking for trouble."

"Is there any chance for you two?" Aurora asked bluntly.

As their daughter, Aurora, hoped they could be together. They still cared for each other, and after twenty years, how many more do they have?

Wendy fell silent, hesitated for a moment, and then said wistfully, "At my age, what's the point of talking about it? Aurora, you should go to the store. I'll take the kids home."

"Mom, you once told me you wanted to live for yourself. Why are you hesitating now? Is it because of Mr. Foster?"

Samuel had been with Wendy for over a decade, and their bond was deep.

Wendy smiled. "As people get older, they tend to retreat. Aurora, Samuel's feelings are deep, but I can't make promises to anyone or let anyone down."

Aurora seemed to understand and didn't press further. She handed the kids to Wendy and headed to the store.

Aurora remembered that Karolyn's flower shop was near her store. After parking, she decided to visit Karolyn.

As she entered the shop, a masked man brushed past her, holding a bouquet of lilies.

At first, Aurora didn't react. When the man walked away, she realized it was Oren.

Aurora quickly ran out of the shop and saw Oren getting into a taxi.

"Aurora!"

Karolyn's voice called out from behind, filled with joy. "Are you here to buy flowers?"

Aurora turned and asked, "That man just now..."

"You mean the one who bought lilies? What's up?" Karolyn looked puzzled in the direction Oren had left. "He seemed to be buying flowers to mourn a friend. Do you know him? Is he a friend of yours?"

"I know him, but we're not close. He's not a friend," Aurora shook her head. Today, Karolyn was dressed simply, with her long hair tied up and heavy makeup on her face.

"Karolyn, how've you been feeling lately?"

"Pretty good. The baby's doing well," Karolyn smiled, then her face clouded with worry. "I don't have many friends in Silvercrest City. I just hope everything goes smoothly when I give birth. Aurora, I'm really scared. What if something goes wrong? What'll happen to my baby? I don't know much about taking care of a child. I'll be a mess."

Aurora comforted her, "Hey, relax. Don't be afraid."

"Aurora," Karolyn held Aurora's hand, "Can you be with me when I go to the hospital to give birth? Having someone familiar there would make me feel better."

"Of course!" Aurora thought about Karolyn's situation. Maybe because she was a mom too, she couldn't refuse this request.

As women, they should help each other when they can.

"That's wonderful. I feel so much better now," Karolyn said happily, giving Aurora a bouquet of baby's breath. "Aurora, this is for you."

"Thank you," Aurora smiled as she accepted the flowers. "Take care. I'll head to the store. Call me if you need anything."

"Okay, Aurora, thank you so much," Karolyn nodded gratefully.

Karolyn was like a drifter in Silvercrest City, unable to put down roots, and being pregnant made things even harder. It was understandable that she wanted to make friends to support her.

Aurora didn't think much of it and took the flowers back to her store.

The store was quiet today. Sophia had arrived early and was diligently contacting clients.

Aurora placed the baby's breath in a vase and thought about how Lori had been missing for a while. She decided to video call Lori.

The call connected quickly, and Lori was practicing calligraphy.

Aurora was surprised. "Wow, going for the artsy girl look? Doesn't really suit you."

Lori dipped her brush in ink. "Just trying to find something to do. Ava's been gone for over half a month, and I'm getting bored at home."

She sounded like a deserted wife.

"You haven't left the house?" Aurora was surprised. This wasn't like Lori.

"No interest. I've just been sleeping at home," Lori said, frowning and suddenly clutching her chest, dry heaving.

Aurora asked, "What's wrong? Did you eat something bad?"

Lori waved at the phone camera, put down the brush, and leaned over the trash can, dry heaving again.

After a while, Lori sat back in her chair, exhausted. "I feel awful. I feel like I'm going to cough up my lungs. I haven't eaten anything, but I've been feeling nauseous these past few days."
