Chapter 366: Husband and Wife Cooperation

Aurora secretly kept a close eye on Wade to see if he had really left.

Wade walked to the car, then turned back to look at Aurora. To avoid suspicion, Aurora quickly took off Calla's coat and tossed it aside.

With Calla still screaming, Wade found it too indecent and got into the car, started it, and drove away.

Once the car was far enough, Aurora stopped what she was doing and sat down on the haystack, letting out a long sigh of relief.

Aurora patted the still-screaming Calla, "He's gone, you can stop now. You were quite convincing just now."

"Gone?" Calla immediately sat up, glanced around, and saw that Wade was indeed gone. She sat down and leaned back-to-back with Aurora. "My throat is sore from all that screaming. By the way, why was it me who had to scream? Why was I the one pinned down and not you?"

Calla was quite shy; after all, she was still a virgin.

Aurora raised an eyebrow and retorted, "Do I look like the one who would be pinned down?"

Calla's eyes widened in sudden realization, looking at Aurora with admiration. "Wow, so with Mr. Lewis, you're the dominant one and he's the submissive one. Way to go for us women."

Aurora was taken aback.

Why did she feel like she was being tricked?

Aurora flicked Calla's forehead. "Stop gossiping. You stay here and keep watch; I'm going in to check on my son."

She couldn't wait to see him.

Next to them was a railway line. This area used to be an industrial zone, bustling with the production of goods for export.

Now, this industrial zone had been transformed into a scenic area, but trains still rumbled through on the old tracks.

Taking advantage of the night, Aurora circled to the back of the abandoned factory while Calla kept watch in the haystack.

Sandra was on the second floor with about a dozen people, with guards on both the first and second floors.

At this moment, Sandra was feeding Jax. Jax had a big appetite, needing 2 fluid ounces of milk every two hours.

If he got any less, he would cry loudly.

And he would spit up after feeding.

Sandra was patient when it came to taking care of the baby, even searching online for tips on baby care.

After feeding Jax 2 fluid ounces of milk, Sandra walked around the room with him. Jax liked to be walked, his eyes wandering around, filled with curiosity about the world.

Sandra's face was still wrapped in bandages, only her eyes, nose, and mouth exposed.

Jax started making cute sounds again.

He reached out his little hand to grab Sandra's face.

"Jax, you can't touch my face." Sandra gently moved Jax's hand away, her tone very soft. In the past two days of being with Jax, she had grown quite fond of him. "Jax, why don't you call me mom from now on? We get along so well. I'll be your mom, and then I'll bring your dad here. The three of us can live abroad together. Wouldn't that be nice?"

Jax made a gagging motion and spit up some milk. Sandra quickly wiped it clean with a tissue.

Sandra now smelled entirely of milk.

She placed Jax on the sofa, but before she could catch her breath, Jax started crying again.

He insisted on being held.

Sandra's arms were sore. She told her subordinate, "You hold him for a while."

"Ms. Johnson, I don't know how to hold a baby. He's so small and fragile. What if I hurt him? Besides, he seems to only want to be held by you."

Sandra felt a surge of pride at this last comment. Jax only wanted her.

"Forget it, I can't rely on you." Sandra waved her hand, signaling her subordinate to leave so she could take care of the baby herself.

In the past two days, Sandra hadn't had a full night's sleep because of caring for the baby. She was so tired that her eyelids were about to close.

Suddenly, her phone rang.

Sandra held the baby in one arm and answered the phone with the other.

On the other end was Alexander's voice. "Sandra, do you have Aurora's child? Turn back while you still can. Return the child and don't be stubborn."

Alexander's plea on behalf of Aurora, which made Sandra feel a pang of resentment.

"Dad, I don't know what child you're talking about. Since you've already washed your hands of everything to guard Wendy's grave, just stay out of it and play dead."

As soon as she finished speaking, Jax let out a couple of cries.

She had just denied knowing about the child, but now this was an indirect admission?

Jax wasn't really crying, just making some noise, as if to announce his presence to others.

When Sandra looked over, Jax pouted and turned his eyes away, the little guy was very smart.

Sandra was speechless.

Even a baby was this smart now?

Hearing the child's cries, Alexander started scolding Sandra over the phone. "You ungrateful daughter, how dare you talk to me like that? I'm your father. Where are you now? Return the child immediately, or I'll take action. Finding you is a piece of cake for me."

Sandra had changed her phone number. Alexander had captured someone from The Shadow of Darkness organization to get Sandra's new number. As for Sandra's location, he really didn't know. His words were just to bluff Sandra.

Sandra had become more meticulous in her actions, only bringing her most trusted subordinates. No one else in The Shadow of Darkness organization knew her whereabouts.

Even Oren didn't know.

While Sandra was on the phone, Aurora had already circled to the back of the factory and climbed up to the second floor using an abandoned water pipe.

Aurora was covered in dirt and looked very disheveled. Her hands were injured during the climb, and she didn't have time to treat them, so they were bloody.

She hid behind a large pillar, observing how many people were upstairs and where they were positioned.

Aurora heard Sandra's voice on the phone. Sandra angrily hung up, scaring Jax into crying again.

"Jax, it's okay. I wasn't yelling at you." Sandra immediately comforted him.

Aurora quietly approached, changing positions several times until she was finally only 30 feet away from the child.

She watched Sandra walking around the room with Jax, trying to put him to sleep. There were guards outside the room, making it impossible for her to get any closer.

The room had no door. Sandra let Jax lie on her shoulder, softly humming a lullaby.

Aurora hid behind a corner, able to clearly see Jax's face. She was overwhelmed with emotion; that was her precious baby.

Jax, with his big eyes, also looked towards Aurora. Even though he was too young to see that far, Jax looked in Aurora's direction and laughed happily.

It was a mother-child telepathy.

Jax waved his hands, laughing excitedly, as if wanting Aurora to hold him.

Aurora felt a pang of sadness. She longed to hold her child, but she couldn't.

Sandra didn't notice Aurora's presence. Seeing Jax so happy, she felt better too. "Jax, are you trying to cheer me up because you know I'm in a bad mood?"

Jax spit up again.

Sandra was completely confused by Jax's behavior.

Aurora patiently waited for an opportunity. She needed Sandra to put the child down.

As soon as the child fell asleep, Sandra would put him down.

But after more than ten minutes, Jax was still very excited, showing no signs of wanting to sleep.

It was only just before 10 PM. Normally, Jax would stay awake until after 11 PM.

Aurora couldn't wait for an hour; there were too many variables.

At this moment, Aurora looked up and noticed someone on the roof.

Aurora held her breath, becoming alert, until she saw who was on the roof. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief.
