Chapter 346: The Autopsy Results Are Out

The box contained nothing else but a baby's severed hand and foot, both covered in blood.

John's face changed dramatically. He caught Aurora with one hand and handed the box to the police beside him with the other.

"Test it immediately and see if it's Jax's," John ordered sternly. "Check the surveillance footage from the entrance and see who delivered the box."

This was serious; it wasn't a simple kidnapping.

If it were really human traffickers stealing a child, they wouldn't kill the child and then send the body parts back.

This was a provocation. Without deep hatred, no ordinary person could do such a thing.

Lloyd, despite his age, was also shocked by this incident.

Hurting a child with such cruel means.

Everyone who saw it at first glance didn't dare to look a second time.

The police also realized that this case was not simple and increased their manpower. They sent the body parts back for testing. Even if it wasn't Jax, it was still a human life.

Angela took a long time to dare to open her eyes. Holding onto Wade's clothes, she asked in a not quietd voice, "Could it really be Jax? Did the kidnappers kill the hostage?"

John heard this and shot her a sharp look. "This absolutely isn't Jax."

Angela was stunned by the shout and didn't dare to speak again.

Wade gently patted her hand, signaling her not to be afraid.

"Sam, take my grandpa back to his room. Tyler, take my mom back to her room." John ordered, and Sam and Tyler took Lloyd and the fainted Helen back to their rooms.

John then took Aurora back to her room as well.

Tonight, the Lewis family was destined for a sleepless night.

With such a big incident, none of the servants in the Lewis Villa could sleep. They had watched Jax grow up bit by bit; he was not even three months old. How could someone be so cruel?

Summer and Loren were always with the nanny in their room and didn't see what was in the box. But with such a big incident in the Lewis family, how could they not know?

Loren knew something had happened to Jax and cried very sadly. "Summer, is Jax dead?"

"Don't cry. The test results aren't out yet. Who says it must be Jax?" Summer was slightly more composed than Loren.

Loren still cried uncontrollably, and Trey was also crying in the next-door nursery. The crying of the two children made the adults' hearts ache even more.

As the eldest, Summer couldn't cry and had to comfort Loren.

"Loren, Mommy is already very sad. If you keep crying and wake her up, it will make her even more upset." Summer handed a tissue to Loren. "We can't make Mommy and Daddy worry anymore."

Hearing that it would make Mommy sad, Loren stopped crying and sniffled. "Summer, I don't want Jax to die."

Since Trey and Jax were born, Summer and Loren had always played with them, changed their diapers, and made formula when they were home. The brotherly bond was deep.

With something happening to Jax, Loren felt very sad. He couldn't handle this at such a young age.

Summer clenched his small fists, his eyes showing a certain determination. "Loren, only if we become stronger will we not be Daddy and Mommy's weakness. No one will dare to threaten them with us."

Loren wiped away his tears. "Yes, Summer, I want to become stronger."

At that moment, Loren made up his mind to go to the island, but that's a story for another time.

John pulled up the surveillance footage from the entrance. Strangely, after checking the footage from a few hours ago, they didn't find anyone suspicious.

The box seemed to have appeared out of thin air. It was completely unreasonable.

This left John and the police puzzled and astonished.

Wade also looked at the footage and spoke to John, "John, it's getting late. I'll take Angela home first. If you need Angela's cooperation, just let us know."

John had no mind to entertain Wade and waved his hand. "Go ahead."

Wade took Angela and left. As they were leaving, Angela paused for a few seconds in the yard and looked back at John, who was discussing the case with the police in the hall.

A man at work was the most handsome, and John, with his stern expression, was even more attractive.

"Angela, get in the car," Wade urged.

Wade could no longer afford a luxury car and could only drive a second-hand van.

Angela snapped back to reality. When she opened the car door, a look of disdain flashed in her eyes. This car was old and broken, only a ten-thousand-dollar second-hand car, incomparable to the Porsches, Ferraris, and Rolls-Royces parked nearby.

Aurora usually drove the Porsche. With all those luxury cars, none were low-key.

Angela composed herself and got in the car. "Wade, do you think that child could really be Jax? If it is, what will the Lewis family do?"

Wade replied, "No matter who it is, John will find him and tear him to pieces to avenge his son."

That was the John Wade knew.

Angela shivered and then uttered sympathetically, "That poor childl, still so young."

Wade turned his head and stared deeply at Angela for a while.

Angela felt uncomfortable under his gaze and her eyes flickered. "What's wrong? Why are you staring at me like that?"

Wade asked seriously, "Did you really not see who took the child?"

Angela's hand instinctively tightened on her clothes. "I didn't see. Maybe there were too many people at the time. I already told you."

"Alright!" Wade withdrew his gaze, started the car, and drove off. He casually asked, "My dad consulted a fortune teller, and they said it's best for us to get married this year. Let's arrange a meeting with your parents to discuss our wedding. I want to marry you as soon as possible."

"Marriage?" Angela was surprised. "So soon?"

Wade asked meaningfully, "What, you don't want to?"

"It's not that. It's just, Wade, don't you want to return to the Lewis family? I don't believe you're really content with running a cake shop and living an ordinary life. You were born extraordinary. You belong at the top. You're just as good as John, and I know you..."

"Know what?" Wade suddenly braked. Due to inertia, Angela lurched forward and was pulled back by the seatbelt. Her head was dizzy for a moment. When she turned and saw Wade's cold eyes, she was too scared to speak.

Angela initially liked Wade not for who he was but for his status.

Wade's last name was still Lewis.

Wade leaned closer, his expression particularly sinister and terrifying under the car's interior light. He coldly smirked, "Why so quiet now? You seemed pretty eager to make a scene in front of the Lewis family just now."

"I was just trying to set things up for you. I didn't want to embarrass you" Angela's face turned pale with fear.

Wade sat back, said nothing, and started the car again.

Aurora woke up after being unconscious for two hours. She was awakened by a nightmare.

In the dream, she saw Jax being chopped off his limbs. Jax's cries tore her heart apart, and she cried in the dream.

Even after waking up, Aurora was still sobbing uncontrollably, unable to come to her senses. John heard the commotion and entered the room.

"Aurora." John held Aurora in his arms.

"John, I dreamed something happened to Jax."

"It's okay, it was just a nightmare. Don't be afraid, I'm here."

John comforted Aurora. Sam called from outside the door, "Mr. Lewis, the forensic results are out. They just called. The police are waiting for you downstairs."
