Chapter 398 Midnight Window Climbing
Lori was practically dragged away by Aurora.
Standing there, Todd covered his face with his hand, then peeked through his fingers at John. "John, can you just pretend you didn't hear that?"
"My ears work just fine," John said, patting Todd's shoulder sympathetically. "Todd, I don't think this is gonna work out for you. If you keep this up, everyone at home is gonna know your status. Let me give you a tip: get her to come to our Nightfall."
Todd looked at John skeptically. "John, isn't that a bit much? Your status at home isn't exactly high either. If I listen to you, will my status improve?"
These two were definitely in the same boat.
John fell silent.
In this area, he really didn't have much credibility.
Todd patted John's chest confidently. "John, my little bunny is already in the net. You don't need to worry about my status at home. You should worry about yourself."
John sneered and said lightly, "I wonder what Lori's reaction would be if she knew someone had planned to get caught and willingly fell into the trap."
Todd gritted his teeth and stayed silent.
What a scoundrel.
Better to offend a gentleman than a scoundrel.
Todd suddenly smiled. "John, I was just joking. Don't take it seriously. How could I not listen to you? Whatever you say goes. Getting Lori into Nightfall is no big deal."
"One month."
"No problem." Todd made an OK gesture.
"Clean up here. I've added a few more traps around the island recently. Be careful. If you don't know the locations, go to the information room and study the map until you're familiar with them."
Todd was puzzled. "John, why did you suddenly add more traps? Our island is already secure enough."
"Aurora's been having nightmares lately, dreaming of lots of Kelpies crawling out of the water. So these traps need to guard against both people and ghosts."
"Ghosts?"
Todd felt there was something more to John's words.
"John, are you referring to Lori? How many girls like Lori are there in the world, who would swim dozens of miles to sneak ashore?"
Todd thought John was just teasing Lori.
"The map is in the information room. Check it out when you have time. It's getting late; I'm going to check on my son."
John said this and left.
Todd reset the traps, opened the gate, and restored everything before leaving.
After everyone had left, Jack emerged from under the banana tree, staring in the direction John and Todd had gone.
...
Aurora prepared some clean clothes for Lori and stood outside the bathroom door. "I put the clothes on the bed."
"Got it, Aurora." Lori opened the door a crack and poked her head out. "Ava's still outside, Aurora. Can you send someone to pick her up?"
"Sure." Aurora was curious. "Ava knows to wait in place. Why did you swim over? Couldn't you call me to send someone?"
"I was just too excited and forgot," Lori laughed. "Aurora, Nightfall's training base is something countless people in the underworld want to find, but no one has. I found it, and if word gets out, my value will skyrocket."
Although Aurora had sent the location, Lori ultimately found the exact spot herself.
Aurora asked, "Did Richard try to find Nightfall's training base before?"
"Of course. If you don't even know the enemy's base, how can you survive?"
Lori came out wearing a bathrobe. "But no one found it. Ava and I thought it might be in this sea area. We drifted on the sea for days and nights but couldn't find it, so we gave up."
"Alright, get some sleep. I'm going to check on the kids." Aurora walked to the door and added meaningfully, "By the way, Todd's room is next to yours. Make sure to close your windows tightly at night. A girl needs to protect herself."
Lori touched her chin and grinned mischievously, whispering to herself, "The one who should close their windows tightly is someone else."
In the dead of night, when everyone was deeply asleep, Lori opened her window, jumped out, and skillfully climbed into the room next door.
