Chapter 87 John No Longer Pretends

As soon as Kevin left, John headed straight to the second floor, while Sam stayed downstairs to wait.

Kevin had already unlocked all the doors in the house, even hanging the key to Aurora's bedroom on the door.

John stood at the door, pleased with Kevin's arrangements.

He gently twisted the doorknob and walked in quietly.

Aurora and Loren were already asleep, with a nightlight on by the bed since Loren often woke up at night.

John stood by the bed, looking at the sleeping Aurora and Loren. They were sleeping soundly, their faces close together, which gave John a sudden sense of peace and warmth.

Loren was a clever little kid. A thought suddenly crossed John's mind: how wonderful it would be if Loren were his and Aurora's child.

John found it incredible that he could have such an idea.

Looking at Loren's adorable face, John thought, 'This little guy dares to compete with me for a woman.'

John carefully lifted the blanket and gently picked up Aurora.

Aurora was in a deep sleep and showed no signs of waking up. John tiptoed downstairs, holding her like a precious treasure.

The Robinson family's front door was open; Kevin wouldn't let John climb over the wall again.

John placed Aurora in the car and, feeling a bit guilty, told Sam, "Back to Meadow Brook."

"Yes, Mr. Lewis," Sam replied in a low voice.

The car moved smoothly, and with John's warm embrace and a sense of familiarity, Aurora didn't wake up until they reached Meadow Brook.

Kevin and Leo watched from the second-floor balcony as they left. Leo, finding his voice after the shock, said, "Dad, isn't Mr. Lewis supposed to be crippled and disfigured? His leg does seem a bit off, but it's not as terrifying as the rumors say."

But in a fight, he was indeed terrifying.

Leo still dreaded the kick John had given him.

"Mr. Lewis is playing a game. We should know what's real and what's fake," Kevin took the opportunity to teach. "Leo, you need to learn from Mr. Lewis. To achieve great things, planning is key."

"No matter how powerful he is, he still has to bow to my sister. He'll have to call me brother-in-law when we meet."

Kevin thought Leo was really dense.

He smacked Leo on the back of the head. "If I hadn't planned ahead and made Aurora my goddaughter, you wouldn't have been where you are today."

Leo rubbed the back of his head and pouted, "If I hadn't taken a liking to sis first and offended Mr. Lewis, you wouldn't have had the chance either, Dad. This is what you call a blessing in disguise."

Kevin really had no rebuttal.

He didn't expect Leo to be more successful than John. As long as they were connected to the Lewis family, even after a hundred years he was gone, he could rest assured leaving the family business to Leo.

The following day, Loren woke up and found that Aurora wasn't in the room. He put on his shoes and ran out, calling, "Aurora, Aurora."

Leo leaned leisurely against the wall and said, "Sis isn't here. If you want to know where she is, you can ask me. I know."

"Where is Aurora?" Loren asked.

Leo smiled and set a condition, "Call me nice uncle, and I'll tell you."

"Forget it then," Loren snorted arrogantly and walked downstairs. "Handsome grandpa, where's sister?"

Kevin had just returned from his morning run and was delighted to see Loren running towards him. "Loren, you're up so early. Aurora went out to work. Grandma will take you to preschool later, okay?"

"Okay," Loren replied sweetly.

At Meadow Brook.

Aurora, half-awake, habitually reached out to touch beside her. Loren was a restless sleeper, and she always had to pull him back under the covers.

But this time, Aurora felt something was off. She opened her eyes and saw John's face right next to hers, startling her into sitting up.

"John, why are you in my bed?"

John, with his hands behind his head, calmly reminded her, "This is my bed."

Aurora then realized she wasn't at the Robinson family house.

She jumped out of bed and ran to the balcony. Looking outside, she saw that this was the Meadow Brook villa, John's place.

Aurora steadied herself and looked at the satisfied man on the bed. "How did I end up here?"

Wasn't she at the Robinson family house? How did she wake up at the Meadow Brook villa?

John put a cigarette in his mouth but didn't light it. The action was incredibly sexy and a bit devilish. "When I woke up, I saw you in my bed. Who knows? Maybe you missed me so much that you sneaked into my bed in the middle of the night."

"That's nonsense," Aurora said with a stern face. "How could I possibly run dozens of miles to climb into your bed? I don't sleepwalk."

But Aurora couldn't figure out how she ended up here.

"Mr. Lewis, Mr. Collins is coming," Sam said, knocking on the door.

Aurora looked at her pajamas, feeling embarrassed. "Do you have any clothes I can wear?"

Unable to figure it out, Aurora decided not to dwell on it. After all, she hadn't lost anything.

John pointed to the wardrobe. "Inside."

Aurora walked over and opened the wardrobe, stunned by the luxury inside.

This wasn't just a wardrobe; it was at least several hundred square feet, with probably thousands of pieces of clothing for all seasons, and all women's clothes, high-end designs.

"Why do you have so many women's clothes?" Aurora's jealousy flared up.

"They're all for you. See if you like them," John said, walking over to her. "The clothes here will be updated every season. If you don't like them, Hubert can come and customize them for you."

Hubert was a top fashion designer, not easily accessible to ordinary people.

But for John, it was no big deal.

They say a woman's wardrobe always lacks one piece of clothing.

Aurora had never been this extravagant. Of course, she didn't have the financial means to compare with a billionaire like John.

"Mr. Lewis, are you planning to spend money to woo me?"

"My woman deserves the best of everything in the world," John said, holding Aurora's shoulders. His gaze fell on the necklace pendant around her neck, and his expression suddenly changed.

"How did this necklace end up with you?"

Aurora, puzzled, took the necklace out from under her clothes. "This is my mother's keepsake. Why?"

A look of shock flashed in John's eyes again.

"John, what's wrong? Have you seen this necklace before?" Aurora asked, confused.

"No," John quickly regained his composure and smiled. "I just thought it was quite unique. Since it's your mother's keepsake, take good care of it."

"Okay," Aurora said, not mentioning Richard. She didn't think it was necessary.

"You should change your clothes."

Gary had arrived. After changing, Aurora went downstairs and saw John chatting with Gary.

This was Aurora's first time meeting Gary. Anyone who could see John's true face must be someone special.

Gary also took a look at Aurora. She was indeed a stunning beauty. If she was at John's place, she must be the Aurora that Sam and Todd had mentioned.

"Ms. White," Gary greeted with a warm smile.

Aurora was a bit surprised. Did this person know her?

"Aurora, come sit next to me," John said, patting the seat beside him.

Aurora walked over and sat down, then heard John say, "I've disguised for so long, and it's about time to slowly lift the veil."

Gary nodded. "Well, I'll give you some medication for your facial injuries. You'll see results in a month. Just keep up the disguise for another month, and that should be enough."

Aurora was confused. John's face looked fine; why did he need medication?

Was John planning to stop pretending to be crippled and disfigured?
