Chapter 142 Splitting Up
ViperStrike pulled himself together real quick. "John, it seems you care a lot about those two kids. You took advantage of the situation and caused significant losses to Blue Venture Group. Today, we gotta settle this. Now I'm broke, my family's a mess, and I'm on the run. All thanks to you."
John strolled forward, cool as a cucumber. "Where are they? Let them go. If you got beef, take it up with me. They got nothing to do with this."
John had a mask on, his voice icy. The closer he got, the more ViperStrike felt this crazy pressure.
Why did this vibe feel so familiar?
John's masked figure also rang a bell.
ViperStrike never thought the John in front of him was the Nightfall he dreaded. But at least he found the right guy.
Not only did he find the right one, but he was also spot on.
But if ViperStrike knew, he probably wouldn't have come looking for trouble. Too bad there was no undo button in life.
This time, ViperStrike really stepped in it.
ViperStrike steadied himself, thinking John was just a cripple, how could he be the boss of Nightfall?
"John, I don't wanna hurt those kids either. If you don't fight back, maybe I'll be nice and let them go."
John glanced up and saw a big screen in the hall, showing Summer, Loren, and Leo all tied up.
From the screen, it was clear they were in a small room, but who knew where.
Right now, John could only hope Todd wouldn't mess up and find them fast.
On Loren and Summer's side, there was also a screen showing John's situation.
When they saw John surrounded by ViperStrike's goons, they were freaked out.
"Mr. Lewis." Summer called out, but of course, John couldn't hear him.
"Hey, I'm here too." Leo yelled at the screen, "John, you can't leave me here. This sucks."
Loren said, "Leo, John can't hear you. Save your breath."
Leo's stomach was tied up tight, making him super uncomfortable. "I hope John can find us."
ViperStrike was sneaky. Even Summer didn't know where they were. They were brought in blindfolded, and all their stuff was taken, so they couldn't send any signals.
Summer and Loren stared at the screen, not saying a word. Summer's eyes showed determination; he believed John would save him.
Since Summer didn't speak, Loren stayed quiet too. With his brother around, he wasn't scared of anything.
Meanwhile, at Emerald Club, John took a few steps forward with his arms open, eyes locked on ViperStrike, limping as he walked. "I've shown my sincerity, Dark. I'll say it one last time, let them go."
Dark Hawkins was ViperStrike's real name.
ViperStrike pointed at John, eyes full of malice. "John, I want you to know what it's like to be crushed."
ViperStrike raised his hand, signaling his men to take action, and immediately, dozens of people wielding steel rods surged forward, while John's eyes darkened, emanating a palpable aura of lethal intent.
ViperStrike yelled, "Get him, beat him down."
The supposedly crippled John moved like lightning, dodging under the rods. He hooked the cane underfoot, using it to smack the nearest guy's head. One guy went down, but the others got even more wild.
John was a pro, easily taking on those men. With each swing of his cane, more guys hit the ground. Some dudes got back up to keep fighting, while others just lay there, groaning in pain.
"Quick, take him down! Don't let him get up here!" ViperStrike yelled, "Didn't they say John was a cripple, on his last legs? What's happening?"
John's mask slipped off, showing a handsome, intense face smeared with other people's blood. He held a cane in one hand and a steel pipe in the other, taking out hidden attackers with precision. Before they could even get close, he repelled them with swift kicks and strikes.
Was this guy even human? He was too fast, too strong. These were big dudes, like 220 pounds each, but they were getting tossed around like ragdolls.
"All of you, get him!" ViperStrike roared, ordering his men. He didn't have time to wonder why John wasn't a cripple and was so agile.
He finally realized why John felt familiar earlier.
The boss behind Nightfall, and John knew him very well. Blue Venture Group was crushed by Nightfall, unable to fight back.
This time, he was in real trouble. But ViperStrike noticed John didn't bring anyone else, and this was the best chance to take him out.
On the other side, Todd had found where Summer and Loren were being held. He brought a bunch of people and found them in a warehouse on the outskirts.
There were guards at the warehouse entrance. Seeing Todd's crew, they immediately got on high alert. "Who are you?"
The Nightfall crew didn't waste time and started fighting.
Aurora was with Todd. She got out of the car, worried sick about the kids, and told Todd, "Break the door."
"Got it." Todd had Tyler do it; Tyler was the door-busting expert.
Aurora's voice caught the guards' attention, and they thought she was an easy target because she was a woman. A guard in black rushed at Aurora. Aurora had trained in Taekwondo. She wasn't as fierce as these guys, but she wasn't a pushover either.
With the kids inside, not knowing their condition, Aurora was anxious. She grabbed a steel pipe and started swinging.
Aurora shouted, bringing the pipe down. The guard dodged, but she was quick, kicking him in the groin.
The guard cursed in pain, "You ruthless woman! You can't kick a guy there! That's against the rules!"
"I don't care about rules. You kidnapped my son, so get ready to be beaten." Aurora kicked again, this time faking him out.
The guard fell for it, protecting his groin. Aurora took the chance to whack him on the head with the pipe. The guard was knocked out cold.
"What an idiot, still wanna mess with me?" Aurora couldn't help but mock.
The guard felt wronged; he was new to the job.
Todd rushed over, only to find that Aurora had already taken care of a guard. He felt a bit of admiration for Aurora; she was truly formidable.
Suddenly, a guard tried to sneak up on Aurora from behind.
"Aurora, watch out!" Todd shouted, and Aurora quickly ducked.
At the same time, Tyler threw a steel pipe like a spear, hitting the guard in the chest and knocking him back.
Aurora was still shaken but didn't want to waste any time. The door was busted open, and she rushed in to find the kids.
"Summer, Loren, where are you?"
The warehouse was huge, and Aurora shouted loudly.
Hearing her voice, Summer and Loren thought they were imagining it. After hearing it a few more times, they realized Aurora was really there.
"Aurora, we're here!" Loren shouted excitedly.
