Chapter 167 Aurora Got Drunk

Aurora was totally wasted, her hands all over John.

John's face darkened. After hearing Aurora had been drinking all afternoon at Villa Kitchen, he rushed over.

"Why'd you drink so much?" John asked, frowning.

"Because I'm happy," Aurora giggled, her voice flirty. "Hey gorgeous, your skin's so smooth. How much to take you home tonight?"

"Let's just go home." John scooped her up in his arms.

"Hey! We haven't even talked price yet." Aurora's eyes were half-closed, her head heavy, and she felt dizzy.

That wine really hit hard.

"No charge," John replied, exasperated.

Aurora laughed again. "Oh, I get it. You want me to test the goods first and then blackmail me, right? I'm not that dumb. Put me down, I'll walk."

Aurora struggled to get down. John, worried about hurting her, set her down and supported her.

Aurora shook her head. "Why does this wine have such a nasty aftereffect? My head's killing me."

"Go home and take some hangover medicine." John sighed, trying to coax her. "Let's just go home."

Women loved a man's gentle care, even drunk women.

John helped Aurora out of Villa Kitchen. A woman in a white shirt and jeans stood at the door, looking elegant. Seeing John, she approached happily. "John."

"Jennifer, open the car door," John instructed.

Jennifer glanced at Aurora leaning against John, said nothing, and obediently went to open the car door.

"I don't wanna get in the car, I wanna drink more." Aurora shook off John and suddenly stared at Jennifer, feeling she looked familiar.

"Have I seen you somewhere before?" Aurora staggered, raising her hand to cover the upper half of Jennifer's face. The more she looked, the more familiar she felt. "You look so familiar, where have I seen you?"

Jennifer's heart skipped a beat. She turned her face away and raised her hand to cover it, afraid that Aurora might notice something.

Jennifer walked to John's other side and softly asked, "John, is this your new girlfriend?"

John corrected, "My fiancée."

A fiancée was way more serious than a girlfriend.

Lloyd had announced they were about to make their engagement public. If Helen hadn't been hospitalized, their wedding date would have been set.

Jennifer's eyes dimmed as she muttered, "You have a fiancée."

Jennifer's voice was soft, without resentment or anger, just endless sorrow.

John understood and said, "Jennifer, I'm glad you're safe and back. From now on, Lewis Family is your home. I'll treat you like my own sister, and Aurora will too."

John made things clear, not giving false hope.

He already had Aurora, and keeping a distance from other women was his responsibility to her.

John had said he'd let Aurora deal with his rivals, but he couldn't bear to bring those women in front of Aurora and make her unhappy.

Jennifer had done John a favor, and they had almost been together once. So he couldn't treat Jennifer the same way he treated Jane.

But John had his principles. He wouldn't let anyone who displeased Aurora stay.

With such clarity in his words, Jennifer definitely understood.

"I know. I came back to see if you're doing well," Jennifer said with a faint smile. "As long as it's someone you like, I'll like them too."

"Okay," John frowned.

Meanwhile, on the second floor of the restaurant opposite Villa Kitchen, Lori and her buddy Ava had already found the perfect spot to ambush, their eyes locked on John.

Aurora, drunk, buried her face in John's chest. Lori peered through the binoculars but couldn't make out Aurora's face clearly. She only saw a woman in John's arms and a beauty standing beside him.

Lori smirked, "This Mr. Lewis sure knows how to juggle the ladies."

The distance was a bit far, so to make sure nothing went wrong, Lori waited for the right moment.

Ava scoffed, "What a douche."

Ava had a baby face, looking super cute, but her vibe was anything but friendly, her expression cold like a walking iceberg.

Ava observed through the binoculars. "They're about to leave."

"Got it!" Lori made a gesture, confidently putting away the binoculars. With a flick of her hand, a golden needle appeared. "Watch me blow his head off."

John was about to help Aurora into the car when suddenly, a blinding white light flashed. With the sharp instincts honed from years of dodging assassination attempts, John quickly dodged with Aurora in his arms.

At the same time, Jennifer nervously shouted, "Watch out!"

Just as John dodged, a golden needle whizzed by, embedding itself in the lamp post behind him.

"Quick reflexes," Lori said, stunned.

Ava was also surprised. "That shouldn't be possible."

"Ava, did you really check out this John’s background? He doesn't seem like just some rich kid."

Ava replied, "Sorry, I'll check again."

John steadied Aurora and looked across the street. The people who had ambushed him were already gone.

Jennifer was visibly shaken. "John, are you okay?"

"I'm fine." John cast a deep gaze upon Jennifer.

Jennifer had also noticed the danger at the same time. This wasn't something an ordinary person could do.

Jennifer patted her chest, her face pale with fright, "That scared me to death, John. What was that? Someone tried to kill you? Was it those people from back then? I'm so scared."

"Probably not," John said as he put the already asleep Aurora into the car. "Jennifer, take care of Aurora."

"Okay."

Jennifer got in. She let Aurora lean on her shoulder and carefully tidied Aurora's hair.

John started the car and headed straight for the Meadowbrook Villa.

The Lewis Mansion wasn't as safe as the Meadowbrook Villa.

Jennifer glanced at Aurora, a deep-seated jealousy hidden in her eyes.

John, even in the face of danger, had never let go of Aurora and kept protecting her.

Looking at Aurora's face, Jennifer really wanted to kill her.

At a sharp turn, John drove too fast, causing Aurora's stomach to churn. Without warning, Aurora vomited all over Jennifer.

Jennifer was very annoyed by Aurora's sudden vomiting.

Jennifer almost lost her cool.

The stench hit her, and Jennifer held her breath. Despite her obvious disgust, she successfully masked it and carefully wiped Aurora's mouth with a tissue.

"John, maybe you should pull over. Ms. White seems very uncomfortable."

John saw Jennifer's care for Aurora and pulled the car over.

John helped Aurora out to get some fresh air and quickly handed her water, gently feeding her, "Drink slowly."

After vomiting, Aurora felt a bit clearer, and the cold wind made her even more so.

"You can't drink like this again," John gently wiped Aurora's mouth with a tissue, his tone full of reproach but also deep affection and concern.

Aurora squinted at John, smiling, then looked past him at Jennifer. Her smile vanished.

Under the night sky, Jennifer, in a simple shirt and jeans, looked so innocent, but her eyes, resembling a snake's, exuded a chilling coldness that sent shivers down one's spine.
