Chapter 15: Falling into the Water

Aurora only struggled a few times before completely losing consciousness.

The towel covering her mouth was soaked in ether, causing her to pass out.

The van quickly drove out of the city and disappeared into the night.

Meanwhile.

The Lewis family mansion.

John and Todd were playing chess in the study. Seeing that he was about to lose again, Todd used a trick to distract John.

"Boss, how are things going with Miss White?"

John calmly placed a piece on the board, "Not bad."

"Boss, Miss White has a fierce personality. You've married so many times, but she's the only one who dared to run away. If she finds out your true identity, it could end badly." Todd naturally knew that John was hiding the truth from Aurora to protect her from the Lewis family.

After all, the head of the Lewis family couldn't afford to have any vulnerabilities.

"I have my own plans." John's deep eyes narrowed slightly as he placed another piece on the board, "You lost."

Todd looked at the board and indeed, he had lost completely.

"Boss, can't you go easy on me just once?" Todd smiled wryly.

John ignored his complaint, "Send that painting from your house tomorrow."

Todd regretted it. Why did he challenge the boss to a chess game? It was just asking for trouble.

He had gone through a lot of effort to get that landscape painting, and now it was gone before he even had a chance to enjoy it.

"A bet's a bet," Todd said curiously, "Boss, I've never seen you interested in landscape paintings."

"It's for Aurora."

The mention of Aurora struck Todd like a thousand blows.

'Why flaunt your love in front of a single guy?' he thought.

"Boss, how about another game?" Todd packed up the chessboard, still feeling a bit unwilling to accept the outcome.

John glanced at the time; it was almost eleven o'clock.

He wondered if Aurora had gone to bed.

For some reason, John felt uneasy and took out his phone to call Aurora.

The call went through, but no one answered.

John frowned.

"Boss, it's so late. Miss White must be asleep," Todd said, "Maybe she didn't hear it."

John called again, but this time the phone was turned off.

John suddenly stood up, "Something happened to Aurora."

"Boss, what's wrong?" Todd was confused.

"Her phone is off."

If Aurora wasn't asleep, she would have answered. If she was asleep, why was her phone off?

John sensed danger and immediately made a call, "Sam, find out Aurora's whereabouts within five minutes."

Todd was shocked.

Even the trusted aide was called in.

It seemed something serious had happened.

In less than five minutes, Sam reported back with news about Aurora.

John learned that Aurora had been abducted near the hospital, and his anger surged.

Todd, who had heard the phone conversation, speculated, "Boss, could it be someone from the Lewis family who kidnapped Miss White to threaten you?"

"If anyone harms a hair on her head, they're dead."

John hurried out.

Todd was stunned, "The boss is really serious this time."

He hadn't seen John this angry in a long time.

Todd prayed in his heart that it wasn't someone from the Lewis family. Otherwise, with John's temper, if things went south and they ended up falling out with them, all their previous efforts would be for nothing.

Suburban seaside.

A van stopped on a deserted road.

This was the van that had abducted Aurora.

Two men dragged Aurora out of the van. The sea breeze hitting her face brought Aurora back to consciousness.

Aurora's hands were tied, and she couldn't struggle free.

"Who are you? Let me go."

Aurora was terrified and struggled.

The two men who kidnapped her were one tall and one fat, with their faces covered by black cloth, making it impossible to see their features.

Aurora thought about it and realized that besides offending Mr. Robinson, the only other people she had crossed were Nicole and her daughter.

'Could it be that Nicole was behind this?' she thought.

"We're just following orders. Someone paid for your life. Don't blame us when you get to hell." The tall man said coldly.

"Whose orders? Is it Nicole? How much did she pay you? I'll give you double if you let me go." Aurora was desperate to save her life, regardless of whether she could actually come up with the money.

"A million dollars. Can you come up with that?" The tall man sneered.

"Yes, I have it. If you don't believe me, I can take you to get it." Aurora tried to deceive them, looking for a chance to escape.

The sea breeze was strong, blowing Aurora's hair into a tangled mess, yet giving her an inexplicable ethereal beauty.

The fat man, seeing Aurora's face, felt a wicked desire and tugged at the tall man, "Boss, it would be a shame to kill such a beautiful woman. Why don't we have some fun before killing her?”

Hearing this, Aurora's heart skipped a beat, and she backed away in fear, but the tall man held her tightly, making it impossible to escape.

"Don't complicate things." The tall man glanced at the fat man, "Just throw her into the sea. Once we finish this job, we can leave the country. If anything goes wrong, we're both screwed."

From the tall man's words, Aurora realized that these two were likely desperados.

The fat man, his eyes roaming lustfully over Aurora's body, was itching with desire.

"Boss, it won't take long. Just a moment."

With that, the fat man grabbed Aurora, "Sweetheart, serve me well, and I'll make sure your death is quick and painless."

"Ah, let go of me." Aurora was frantic with fear and bit the fat man's shoulder.

The fat man, seemingly unaffected by the pain, pressed Aurora into the van.

The tall man, helpless, said, "Hurry up."

He then stepped aside to smoke.

"Sweetheart, give me a kiss." The fat man puckered his lips and leaned in.

"Get away." In her terror, Aurora kicked the man in the groin.

"Ah!"

A scream echoed in the night.

The fat man, in pain, squatted down, and Aurora took the opportunity to run.

The tall man, realizing something was wrong, threw his cigarette and chased after her, "Stop, stop right there."

The fat man, after recovering a bit, also gave chase.

Aurora ran with all her might.

She knew that if she fell into their hands again, it would be certain death.

Realizing that running along the road would eventually get her caught, Aurora headed towards the sea. Seeing the raging waves below the cliff, she instinctively stopped.

Aurora turned back and saw headlights in the distance. Someone was coming.

But she knew she had no chance to call for help because the two men were already closing in.

The tall man, with a sinister look, said, "Jump yourself, or we'll throw you."

"The law will catch up with you, and you will be punished."

With that, Aurora jumped.

Aurora deliberately chose a deep spot in the water, knowing that hitting the rocks would be certain death.

Aurora could swim, but with her hands tied and a sudden cramp in her leg upon hitting the water, she struggled and began to sink.

'Is this really the end for me?' she wondered.

“Aurora.”

In her daze, Aurora seemed to hear John's voice.

'John, is that you calling me?'
