Chapter 232 Taking Action Again

Summer and Loren's vanishing act this time was way different from before. This time, it was like they just vanished into thin air, no noise, no clues.

Sam tried hitting up Summer a bunch of times but got nothing, so he looped in John and Aurora.

Aurora, all freaked out, asked, "When did you realize you couldn't get ahold of them?" In her panic, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her stomach and let out a groan.

Seeing her like that, John, worried, said, "Aurora, don't stress yourself out."

Sam said, "It was just two hours ago. Summer said he was taking Loren out to buy something, and they haven't come back since."

John ordered, "Go find them right now. Get everyone searching. Before dawn—no, within an hour, you must find them."

Sam looked troubled. "Mr. Lewis, it's not that we're not trying. It seems like Summer deliberately blocked our tracking signals."

"Deliberately?" Aurora frowned. "Why would Summer take Loren?"

No one had a clue. Meanwhile, in a warehouse in Silvercrest City...

The place was lit up like a Christmas tree, and workers were still busting their butts moving goods. This was where Jack had been nabbed.

Summer and Loren were lying in a pile of weeds about 30 feet from the warehouse, using binoculars to scope out the scene.

"Summer, can we really catch the bad guys here?" Loren was super excited.

"Keep it down," Summer said, adjusting the binoculars and spotting a car pulling up to the warehouse. "Loren, get your head down."

"Got it." Loren quickly ducked, almost pressing his face to the ground.

A black sedan stopped at the warehouse entrance. The driver hopped out to open the door, and a middle-aged man stepped out.

It was Richard.

Richard looked around cautiously before heading into the warehouse.

Loren saw him too. "Summer, the bad guy shows up."

Summer muttered, "We really picked the right time today."

Aurora had been worried sick about Jack these past few days, and Sam and the others couldn't find any leads, so Summer decided to take a shot in the dark.

This warehouse had just been searched, so the cops probably wouldn't come back. It was the safest bet now.

But coming here was totally a spur-of-the-moment thing. They had only planned to grab some food and, on a whim, took a cab here.

Sometimes, luck was just part of the game.

"Summer, here." Loren pulled out his phone. "Hurry and take pictures."

These could be solid evidence. Even if it couldn't clear Jack's name, it could at least nail Richard.

Summer took the phone and saw it was in airplane mode. "How did it get into airplane mode? Did you do it?"

Loren gave an embarrassed smile. "Maybe I accidentally touched it."

Summer turned off airplane mode, set the phone to silent, and opened the camera app.

If Sam knew Loren had accidentally set it to airplane mode, he'd probably be pretty frustrated.

The workers were loading boxes onto the truck, while Richard was watching nervously and constantly pushing them to hurry up. It seemed this batch of goods was super important.

Summer snapped pictures while sending them to Aurora. He was taking continuous shots, capturing the whole process of the workers loading the goods and even got a close-up of Richard.

At that moment, a worker, in his rush, tripped and fell, causing the box to break open and its contents to spill out.

Summer's eyes lit up, and he quickly took a picture of the spilled contents.

Richard yelled, "What are you doing? Hurry up and pack the stuff. Be quick about it."

If this batch of goods wasn't so crucial and the situation wasn't so tense, Richard wouldn't have risked coming personally.

Meanwhile, at the hospital...

Aurora's phone wouldn't stop ringing. She picked it up and, with excitement, said, "It's from Summer."

She then saw the photos and was completely stunned. "Summer and Loren went to the warehouse. Richard is there too. Sam, take people and go there immediately. I'm afraid they are in danger."

John's eyes were still bandaged, and he couldn't see a thing, but he could feel Aurora's anxiety. "Aurora, you are not allowed to go."

He knew Aurora too well. With her personality, she would definitely go.

"John, I..."

Before she could finish, John cut her off. "Summer and Loren's safety is important, but so is yours and the baby's." Then he turned to Sam. "Hurry and take people there."

"Yes, Mr. Lewis." Sam knew how serious this was and rushed off.

Meanwhile, the goods at the warehouse were being loaded and taken away, and Richard had left.

Summer and Loren were about to retreat, and just as they turned around, they saw a masked woman standing behind them.

'Aurora is annoying, and her two sons are just as annoying,' Jennifer thought while looking at the two kids in front of her, her eyes filled with disdain. The two kids were clearly illegitimate, yet John still accepted them for Aurora's sake.

Seeing her gaze, Loren grabbed Summer's clothes. "Summer, this woman is so mean. You can tell no one wants her."

As a member of Nightfall, Summer recognized the Fox mask. She was from The Shadow of Darkness organization. He had thought he had dealt with her before. It seemed the previous one was an imposter.

Instinctively, Summer stepped in front of Loren, shielding him. "Anyone who dislikes my mommy is after my daddy."

Summer still didn't know he was John's biological son, but since John had publicly claimed he was, he said it anyway.

"Don't call him that. You're just two illegitimate children, not John's kids. You don't deserve it," Jennifer said, her gaze fixed on Loren. Loren looked too much like Aurora, and jealousy burned within her as she reached out to grab him.

"Don't touch him." Summer shouted, throwing a punch at Jennifer. After all, he had been training in close combat for months and could throw a punch with 110 pounds of force.

Taking advantage of Jennifer's distraction, Loren threw a handful of weeds at her face.

Summer knew they couldn't win, so he grabbed Loren and ran. This area was covered in 40-inch tall weeds, making it difficult to find a clear path.

Jennifer, with weeds in her mouth and hair, was furious. "You little brats, stop right there."

Summer could run fast alone, but not with Loren. They hadn't run far when Loren was already out of breath.

Summer said, "You eat so much and get so fat. Let's see if you still want to lose weight."

"But I'm hungry if I don't eat." Loren panted heavily, "Summer, maybe you should go first."

"We go together." Summer definitely couldn't leave Loren behind.

At that moment, Loren suddenly tripped on the weeds and fell, instinctively pulling Summer down with him.

Jennifer caught up and said angrily, "I'll sell you both to traffickers. I'll make Aurora suffer."

As she said this, she reached out to grab Loren and Summer. Suddenly, a golden needle flew over, piercing Jennifer's right hand, causing blood to flow.

"Did you ask my permission to touch them?" Lori's voice came through.

Lori and Ava's appearance lifted Loren and Summer's spirits.

"Lori!" Loren shouted, "Lori is so cool. Teach that woman a lesson. She insulted mommy."

Loren had a tenet that if he couldn't win, just run, and if he had backup, he would definitely seek revenge.

Due to the pain, Jennifer clutched her hand while glaring at Lori. "It's you again, Lori. Stay out of this."
