Chapter 48 Did That Child Really Die?
Children's tears were incredibly powerful.
Aurora couldn't resist at all.
"Alright, I will definitely help you find your brother." Aurora glanced at the snacks on the table, which were almost all eaten, showing how hungry the child was.
If this child really fell into Henry's hands, who knows what kind of life he would have?
Aurora's heart softened once again and asked, "Your name is Loren, right?"
"My name is Loren Grant, and everyone calls me Loren." Loren's voice was soft and sweet, fiddling with his little fingers. "Lady, you can call me Loren, too."
Loren really liked Aurora. He thought the pretty lady in front of him was so gentle. If only she were his mommy.
"Loren, you're such a good boy. Rest here, and I will take you home later."
Aurora gently touched Loren's cheek, liking him more and more, completely forgetting how this little kid's superb acting almost fooled everyone just now.
Loren nodded obediently. "Lady, you're so nice."
Aurora smiled and instructed the servant to take good care of Loren before leaving.
As soon as Aurora left, Loren revealed a sly smile, like a little fox, with his bright, cunning eyes.
"Lady, I'm thirsty and want some orange juice. Can you get it for me?" Loren sweetly smiled at the servant.
Who could resist such an innocent smile?
"Alright, I will get it for you right away." The servant smiled and said, "What a delightful child."
Loren chuckled. As soon as the servant left, he opened his little hand, revealing the hairpin John had given to Aurora.
He had swiped it when Aurora wasn't paying attention.
That bad man had been taken away by the police, so he couldn't stay here any longer. He still had to find his brother.
Loren packed up all the remaining snacks on the table and sneaked away while everyone was in the hall.
Loren didn't leave through the main door but went through the side door, crawling out through the dog hole.
Leaving the estate, Loren dusted off his clothes and touched his nose. Although he really liked the pretty Aurora, she ultimately wasn't his mommy.
Aurora realized the hairpin was missing and finally understood.
She rushed back to the guest room, but there was no one there.
The servant returned with the orange juice and, seeing Aurora, asked in confusion, "Miss White, why are you back?"
"Where's Loren?"
"In the room." The servant looked around, finding the room empty, and panicked. "Oh no, where did he go? He was just asking for orange juice, and now he's gone."
"He must have already left the estate." Aurora realized she had been tricked and chuckled. "What a cunning child."
The servant asked, "Miss White, should we send someone to look for him? It's so dangerous for such a small child. What if he encounters bad people?"
"If bad people encounter this little rascal, who knows who will end up in trouble?"
Despite her words, Aurora still sent people to look for him.
The banquet wasn't over yet.
Aurora couldn't leave, and Nicole and Emily were still there, but after what had just happened, they were completely isolated in the lounge area.
Compared to being taken away by the police, sitting here and facing people's disdain was even more torturous.
The two were on pins and needles but couldn't leave.
If they left, it would be an admission of guilt.
Aurora swirled her wine glass, glancing at the two with indifference.
Sophia sneered. "Those two have some thick skin. They still haven't left. If it were me, I'd have found a hole to crawl into."
"They want to leave but can't." Aurora smirked. "The feeling of being tormented is not pleasant."
Sophia thought of something and asked, "Aurora, do you think the Harris family will completely abandon Nicole and Emily after this embarrassment?"
"Not necessarily."
Nicole had been Percy's mistress for so many years; she must have some tricks up her sleeve.
As they were chatting, Dean walked over. "Aurora."
Dean's face was full of smiles, making him look like a doting father.
Sophia glanced at Aurora and said, "I'll go over there."
Aurora nodded.
Once Sophia left, Dean said, "Aurora, in a few days, it will be your mother's death anniversary. Don't forget."
"Mr. White, it's rare that you remember my mother's death anniversary." Aurora didn't give him a good look.
If Dean hadn't come today, perhaps Aurora's resentment would have subsided.
But Dean came with an attitude of having control over her, even if he spoke up for her earlier, it was only because she was useful to him.
Dean awkwardly smiled and said, "I just came to tell you that I'll be taking Nicole and Emily away now."
Dean hadn't gained anything today. On the contrary, he was privately criticized for being selfish and opportunistic, trying to curry favor with Aurora now that she had the Robinson family backing her.
Dean felt very embarrassed.
As he turned to leave, his back was slightly hunched, looking somewhat pitiful.
Aurora frowned. No matter how selfish Dean was, he was still the one who gave her life.
The White Group also had a part of her mother's efforts.
"I'll see you off."
This was the second time Aurora's heart softened today.
If she personally saw Dean off, it would undoubtedly announce that her relationship with Dean had improved.
Even if Dean might face humiliation, he still came to the party. If others looked down on Dean, it would also embarrass her.
Dean was surprised, his cloudy eyes filled with tears, and asked, "Aurora, you don't blame me anymore?"
Aurora remained expressionless. "Don't overthink it. I'm doing this for Mom and Jack. You've been paying for Jack's medical expenses all these years."
Dean was almost moved to tears. No matter the reason, this was the best outcome.
Aurora personally saw Dean off. At the door, Nicole and Emily, who had been meek in the hall, regained their arrogance.
"Aurora, you really think you're the eldest daughter of the Robinson family now. You didn't even speak up when Emily and I were being bullied. You have no good intentions."
Aurora coldly glanced at Nicole. "What were your intentions just now, Aunt Clark?"
Emily said angrily, "We weren't wrong. Others might not know, but we do. You had a child out of wedlock..."
"Shut up." Dean shouted, glaring at Nicole and Emily. "Keep this matter a secret. If anyone mentions it again, they'll regret it. Get back in the car."
Nicole and Emily, unwilling, glared at Aurora and got in the car.
Aurora was surprised at how obedient they were to Dean.
"Aurora, don't take tonight's incident to heart. Don't worry, as long as I'm here, this matter will remain a secret. No one will know." Dean lowered his voice, afraid of being overheard.
Only if Aurora did well could he benefit.
Aurora pursed her lips and asked, "Did that child really die back then?"
