Chapter 262 Women Must Never Give Up on Themselves
Aurora was just about to give Emily a pat on the back for not causing any trouble this time and actually picking the right rival in love, but in a flash, she got pulled right back into the mess.
Emily, with her big pregnant belly, had a grip like a vice and wouldn't let go of Aurora.
They were teetering right on the edge of the third-floor corridor. If they fell from there, they'd be seriously hurt, if not worse.
Aurora said, "Emily, you're really biting the hand that feeds you. I just got you out, and now you're trying to drag me down."
Emily was scared too; she didn't want to end up back in jail. But how could she stand Daniel marrying someone else?
"Aurora, I'm sorry, but I have no choice. Please help me stop him from marrying someone else. My baby is about to be born; he can't grow up without a father," Emily pleaded, her voice cracking with tears.
She used to be a high-society darling, adored and pampered, living the high life. But now, she'd been in prison, her reputation in tatters, abandoned while pregnant, her life hitting rock bottom.
The commotion caught the attention of the people in the hall. John heard something was up with Aurora and rushed over.
Seeing Aurora and Emily standing dangerously close to the edge, with a railing barely 20 inches high, John's heart skipped a beat. He shouted, "Emily, let Aurora go!"
Aurora subtly shook her head at John, signaling him to stay back.
Lloyd, Summer, and Loren also hurried over.
"Mommy!" Summer and Loren were terrified, afraid Aurora might fall.
"I don't want to hurt Aurora; I just want to stop Daniel from marrying Amelia," Emily cried out. "Daniel, you can't be so heartless. We were married. I was always faithful to you."
Amelia, alerted by the noise, came out of the lounge. Emily's accusations made Daniel look like a total jerk, abandoning his wife and kid to marry the daughter of the Smith Group for his future career.
Daniel felt humiliated, unable to keep his cool, while Amelia was fuming.
Amelia, holding her wedding dress, snapped back, "Daniel and I truly love each other. You and Daniel are history. How can you be so shameless to come here and cause trouble?"
Emily, provoked by Amelia, got even more agitated. "You stole my husband from me. Look at your belly and mine. Can you honestly say you two weren't messing around long before? You're the shameless one."
Amelia's belly was also quite noticeable, at least four months along. If Daniel and Amelia hadn't been involved earlier, it wouldn't show so soon.
The guests were whispering, and some were calling Daniel a scumbag.
Daniel was so embarrassed he hung his head, not saying a word.
Two women were fighting over him, but as the main guy, Daniel didn't dare to say a thing.
Some folks from The Smith Group shook their heads, clearly disappointed.
Standing up for your woman is a man's basic duty.
Amelia, furious, held Daniel's hand. "Daniel is giving me a grand wedding, and you, you just tricked him into marrying you. It's clear who Daniel truly loves."
"Let go of his hand," Emily, unable to stand the sight of them holding hands, let go of Aurora and walked over, trying to pull them apart. "I won't let you be together, I won't let you get married."
Seeing Aurora was safe, John quickly walked over and shielded her. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Aurora said, not panicking at all, knowing Emily was just using her as a pawn.
Emily and Amelia were already going at it, yanking each other's hair but carefully avoiding their pregnant bellies.
The folks from The Smith Group had had enough. "Get security to break this up. This is embarrassing."
Both women were pretty fierce. By the time security managed to pull them apart, they both had scratches on their faces.
Amelia's wedding dress, worth a fortune, was in tatters.
Even after being separated, they kept hurling insults at each other.
Emily spat, "You're shameless, stealing my husband."
Amelia shot back, "You're the shameless one. Daniel doesn't want you anymore, and you still show up here. You're a disgrace to all women."
Honestly, they were both kind of right.
Daniel pulled Amelia aside. "Enough, the ceremony's about to start. Don't lower yourself to her level. Go change your dress."
If this kept up, it would be humiliating for everyone involved.
The Smith and Taylor families started gathering their guests in the hall.
Emily couldn't stop the wedding; security was blocking her way, so she just kept cursing.
After a while, she collapsed on the ground, crying bitterly. "Daniel, you ungrateful jerk, you'll get what's coming to you."
No matter how much you love someone, in a fit of rage, you might say some pretty harsh things.
Aurora sighed, feeling a bit sorry for Emily. This proved an old saying "pitiful people often have something detestable about them."
As Amelia walked away, Emily turned her anger towards Aurora. "Are you happy now, seeing me abandoned? You must be thrilled, right? You're no better. I almost dragged you down with me, and Daniel doesn't care about you either, which means he doesn't love you."
Aurora paused for a moment.
What kind of logic was that?
Aurora was amused by Emily's twisted reasoning. "You lost it in jail. I'm already married to John. Why would I need that scumbag Daniel to care about me? Just because you fancy him doesn't mean he's popular."
Emily glared at Aurora, but with John standing right there, she didn't dare say more.
Aurora added, "Emily, look at yourself. If I were a man, I wouldn't want you either. It's not that Daniel dumps you; it's that you've given up on yourself. If I were you, I'd turn my life around, live with dignity like a queen, and find someone a hundred times better than Daniel to make him regret it."
Emily paused, then looked at John. "So you found Mr. Lewis?"
Aurora held John's arm. "Daniel isn't even in the same league as my husband. Don't compare just anyone to my husband; it lowers the standard, get it?"
Her words pleased John and made John smile. "Aurora, you have good taste."
"Let's go," Aurora said, pulling John towards the hall.
Suddenly, Emily screamed, "Oh no, I'm going into labor!" A puddle of water appeared on the ground.
Her water had broken.
Daniel was having a big day—getting married and having a baby.
"Aurora, help me, I'm going into labor," Emily cried out, panicking as it was her first time giving birth.
Aurora couldn't just leave her there. She turned to John, "Get her to the hospital."
John wasn't about to carry any woman other than Aurora. So he made a call, and within a minute, Sam and Tyler showed up. "Mr. Lewis, what's up?"
John glanced at Emily. "Take her to the hospital."
Sam and Tyler were somewhat reluctant, but with John's order, they had to take her to the hospital.
Once Emily was sent away, everything suddenly felt peaceful.
The wedding went on as planned.
As the time approached, Aurora was chatting with Sophia when a hand suddenly rested on her shoulder.
Aurora turned around and was surprised.
