Chapter 331: Not Stupid, Just Not Enlightened in That Area

Aurora left Lori behind and returned to the bedroom with John, who seemed a bit disapproving of Aurora's actions.

"Aurora, I know you want to help Lori, but you don't have to put yourself in danger."

"Richard is cunning, John. He hasn't been sitting around all these years. Finding him won't be easy, especially with Jack on his side. We can't keep stalling with Ava either. Using me as bait is the quickest way." Aurora stood on her tiptoes and kissed John's lips.

The kiss was brief.

"John, don't think of me as too fragile. Besides, you're here to protect me, right? It'll be fine." Aurora added.

John touched his lips and smiled helplessly, "What else can I say?"

Aurora smiled, "With you, I can be fearless."

Who could resist such sweet words?

John ruffled Aurora's hair and spoke softly, "Richard has already left Silvercrest City. I guess he'll head back to Aetheria."

"If he goes back, it'll be even harder to catch him," Aurora frowned. "You must have spooked him by going after Oren. Richard probably thinks Oren is unreliable now. Aetheria is a chaotic place, which makes it easier for him to make a comeback and evade the police."

"Aurora, you're right. If I were him, I'd choose to go back to Aetheria too," John clarifiedd. "Wolfpack is broken up now, and its power has been significantly weakened by other forces. Richard won't return to Wolfpack; there's no place for him there anymore."

Aurora pondered, "John, let's go to Aetheria. How's your leg?"

She wanted to go alone, but John would never agree, so they had to go together.

"Richard indirectly caused my mother's death and took Jack. We need to act quickly." Aurora explained.

John shook his leg and spoke confidently, "No problem. Let's rest well tonight and head to Aetheria tomorrow. I'll have Sam prepare everything. Think of it as an adventure trip, and I'll protect you."

Aurora quickly hugged him, "Honey, please protect me."

Lori had another sleepless night.

She sat in the hanging chair on the balcony, smoking. She rarely smoked, but after what happened to Ava, she relied on it to cope.

The ground was littered with cigarette butts.

Todd, in the next room, had been watching Lori from his balcony for over half an hour. When Lori lit her tenth cigarette, he couldn't help but speak up. "Hey, why are you up in the middle of the night smoking? If you don't sleep, I still need to. Put out that cigarette; it's giving me a headache."

Their balconies were about 26 feet apart. How could it be bothering him?

Lori rolled her eyes and ignored him, lighting another cigarette.

"I'm telling you, smoking so much is bad for your health. You're really upping your chances of getting lung cancer. Dying young isn't worth it," Todd started to exaggerate.

Lori's eyes darkened, "Todd, shut up."

"Hey, don't ignore my advice..."

Lori flicked a needle at Todd.

Todd quickly ducked, grabbing the balcony railing. The needle flew over his head.

If he had been a bit slower, his head would have been pierced.

Todd touched his chest, "Why are you so ruthless?"

"Keep talking, and I'll cripple you," Lori threatened, crushing the cigarette butt under her foot.

Todd swallowed, "So fierce, you'll never get married."

"Coward," Lori cursed, walking back inside and closing the sliding door, drawing the curtains so Todd couldn't see anything.

Todd stood up straight and looked at the needle embedded in the pillar behind him, about an inch deep. That was some strength.

In all of Nightfall, only John had such skills.

Todd took the needle and noticed a tiny engraving on it.

Looking closely, it read "Lori." This was Lori's personal item.

Todd glanced at the neighboring balcony, a slight smile on his lips, and clenched the needle in his hand.

He thought inwardly, 'Marrying such a fierce woman might not be so bad.'

With Lori around, any danger would be handled in no time.

But when there was no danger, Lori herself was the biggest threat.

So, marriage should be approached with caution.

The next day, Sam and Tyler had prepared the private jet. Lori initially didn't know they were going to Aetheria. When she found out Aurora and John were going to catch Richard, her mood brightened.

Lori uttered with a smile, "Aurora, you're so great that I almost want to marry you."

John hugged Aurora, "Lori, is this how you repay our kindness?"

Lori smirked, "John, don't be so wary of me. I'd love to marry Aurora, but I don't have the right equipment to make her happy."

Todd walked out just in time to hear this.

This woman really dared to say anything.

Aurora blushed. Lori really lacked a filter.

Lori glanced at Todd, "What are you, a cripple, doing here? You can't fight or carry anything. If something happens, you'll just drag us down."

Todd was furious after hearing that. Did they have to embarrass him like that?

"I just like to join the fun," Todd spoke, boarding the plane first. "If you can't stand me, don't come along."

"Why shouldn't I go?" Lori squeezed onto the plane, deliberately taking Todd's seat. "You sit in the back."

Todd stared at Lori, gritting his teeth, "I'm not going to argue with you."

Todd didn't know why, but ever since he met Allan last night, Lori had been even more hostile towards him, constantly picking fights.

Aurora noticed too and quietly asked John, "Why are those two getting along worse and worse?"

"Don't worry about it. Todd's got a smart mouth and is stubborn," John replied. "He once bought all the tickets for a flight to Moscow just to stop Lori from leaving."

"So Todd was the rich guy?" Aurora was surprised. "Why did he do that? He’s always been afraid of Lori. Shouldn't he be glad if she left?"

If it was just to annoy Lori, that move was too self-destructive.

Aurora remembered that Lori had planned never to return. When Todd came to Meadowbrook, she casually mentioned Lori was leaving, and Todd hurried off. She didn't expect he was going to stop Lori.

John glanced at the two bickering on the plane, looking amused, "Those two aren't dumb, but they're clueless when it comes to relationships."

Aurora suddenly understood, "Could it be that Todd..."

She was both surprised and delighted. She actually looked forward to this development.
