Chapter 389: Jack Wants to Go to the Nightfall Training Base

Aurora heard the sound and instinctively looked towards the door with Wendy.

Jack walked in, his expression fairly natural. "Aurora, Mom... I mean, Auntie, I was just passing by, I didn't mean to eavesdrop."

"Call me Auntie or Mom, whatever you prefer." Wendy looked at Jack with affection. As the child of an old friend and someone in poor health, Wendy naturally had more love for Jack, treating him like her own son.

Dean followed in, and Aurora asked, "Dean, can you call Mr. Collins to check on Jack?"

Aurora also intentionally wanted to send Dean away.

"Alright, I'll go right away." Dean was particularly obedient to Aurora.

After Dean left, Aurora looked at Jack, "Did you hear what was said just now?"

"Yeah," Jack responded, "He's done so many evil things, he deserves it. From the time I was born until now, he hasn't done anything for me, hasn't fulfilled his duties as a father. Even a tiger doesn't eat its cubs, but he framed me and sent me to prison. A firing squad is too lenient for him."

Jack's tone was filled with deep resentment.

"Jack, he's still your dad," Wendy sighed, "Why don't you go see him tomorrow?"

"I'm not going." Jack refused flatly. "Auntie, Aurora, don't worry about me. I know right from wrong. I lived well without him before, and I will continue to do so. Just pretend he doesn't exist."

Jack's words were cold and heartless, but it made sense. Richard had done so many wrong things, and the father and son had hardly spent any time together, so it was normal for their relationship to be thin.

As they spoke, Gary arrived.

The three of them didn't bring up the topic again.

Aurora said, "Mr. Collins, please check on Jack. He's been having chest tightness and angina recently."

"Alright." Gary replied, setting down his bag and pulling out a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff. "Jack, have a seat and relax."

Jack sat down, extending his arm for Gary to wrap the cuff around. Everyone remained silent, waiting for Gary to diagnose Jack.

Gary listened to Jack's heart and lungs through the stethoscope, occasionally frowned and pursed his lips slightly, making Aurora nervous. "Mr. Collins, how is he?"

"It's serious but not critical. Post-surgery, the body is definitely not as strong as before, and the previous recovery wasn't great either, which is why it's recurring." Gary withdrew his hand and said, "Avoid strenuous exercise. Your heart can't handle it, let alone long-term physical training."

From his examination, Gary could tell that Jack had been overexerting himself, causing his heart to be overburdened, leading to a recurrence of his condition.

Aurora was puzzled. "Strenuous exercise? Jack, have you been secretly racing again?"

"Aurora, I just messed around a bit. I won't do it again, I promise." Jack smiled at Aurora, trying to please her.

Gary chimed in, "This heart condition needs proper care. You're still young, and as long as you take good care of yourself, you shouldn't have any major issues. I'll write you a prescription, follow it to get the medicine, and take it on time."

Jack nodded gratefully, "Thank you, Mr. Collins."

After writing the prescription, Dean had someone get the medicine. Aurora took the opportunity to say, "Mom, Dean, Jack, how about you all come over to our house for dinner tomorrow."

Jack asked, "Aurora, what's up? Why the sudden dinner invite?"

"Well, Summer and Loren are heading out the day after tomorrow, so I thought it would be nice for all of us to get together."

Wendy asked, "Heading out? Where to?"

"John and I plan to send them abroad for studies." Aurora didn't tell the truth and made up a lie.

Wendy didn't seem to doubt her.

Aurora stayed at The White Villa until evening before leaving, and Jack was waiting for her at the door.

"Aurora, are you and John sending Summer and Loren to the Nightfall training base?"

Wendy and Dean didn't know, but Jack could guess.

Jack had stayed with Wolfpack for a while before, so it wasn't surprising that he knew Nightfall had its own training base.

Aurora nodded. "Yes, these two kids want to go too. Why do you ask?"

"Aurora, can I come too?" Jack grabbed Aurora's hand, just like when he was a child, acting spoiled. "Aurora, I really look up to John. He's done an amazing job with Nightfall. I want to learn and gain some experience, see what the Nightfall training base is like."

Aurora laughed. "Admire John? Don't let him hear that, or he'll get very proud."

"Lori always said I was no good, looked down on me. I want to learn some skills and make Lori see me in a new light." Jack shook Aurora's hand. "Aurora, please take me with you."
