Chapter 150 Jumping Off the Car
Emily strolled into the hall, catching everyone off guard.
Aurora couldn't believe she had the guts to show up at the birthday bash.
Todd was equally stunned. "Is she crazy? Who even invited her?"
It didn't make sense for the Lewis Family to send Emily an invite.
Aurora chimed in, "There are tons of guests today, and not all of them have invites. Mr. Lloyd Lewis is a big deal, and with so many celebs around, some folks are bound to sneak in just to rub elbows."
"I'll get someone to toss her out," Todd said, ready to move.
"Hold on, Mr. Smith," Aurora stopped him. "It's Mr. Lewis' birthday. Kicking her out would just make the Lewis Family look bad."
Todd frowned. "Today's just not our day. But Emily can't stir up too much trouble."
Before he could finish, Todd spotted a familiar face and blurted out, "Sandra? What's she doing here?"
Todd knew John had made Sandra leave Silvercrest City.
He and Aurora exchanged a look.
Aurora didn't know much about Sandra, just that she had some link to John.
"Mr. Smith, what's the deal between this Sandra and John's ex, Jennifer?"
"Ms. White, you know Jennifer?" Todd was taken aback.
"Surprised?" Aurora said, "Who doesn't have an ex?"
"Ms. White, you're something else," Todd laughed. "They're sisters."
"Ms. White, you go ahead. I'll go say hi to Sandra." Todd was a bit uneasy. The boss hadn't shown up, and now Sandra was here. He worried she might spill something she shouldn't.
"Sandra," Todd greeted her with a warm smile and open arms, half-jokingly saying, "Weren't you abroad? Did you sneak back without telling the boss? You're so cheeky."
"Todd, you're still the same," Sandra said, holding a gift and smiling brightly. "I came back just to wish Mr. Lloyd Lewis a happy birthday."
"That's sweet," Todd said, though he didn't buy it. "The party hasn't started yet. Let's go sit and catch up. You look stunning."
"Sure," Sandra said, handing the gift to the person at the door. "If John finds out I snuck back and gets mad, Todd, you have to back me up."
"Of course, with our history, I've got your back."
Todd's ambiguous tone made Sandra smile, but she was puzzled.
They hadn't been close before, so why was he so friendly now?
Emily glanced at Sandra. Though they arrived one after the other, they weren't together, and Emily didn't recognize Sandra as the Ms. Johnson who had been helping her.
Emily saw Aurora but didn't approach her. Instead, she found a quiet spot to sit.
Aurora was curious. What was Emily up to?
"Ms. White, you've got some nerve." Jane had walked up to Aurora. "Did you put those kids up to it?"
"Ms. Torres, you've got a lot of energy. Those kids acted out because you're such a terrible person. Why didn't they prank anyone else?"
Aurora sneered, "You're so awful that even kids can't stand you. Maybe you should work on your character. It's one thing to be a bad person, but annoying everyone else is on you."
Jane's face twisted in anger. "Aurora, say that again."
"Seriously, I've never seen someone begging to be insulted," Aurora's words nearly made Jane explode with rage.
If anyone dared to insult her son, Aurora would hit back hard.
Aurora didn't even try to hide her disdain for Jane.
Jane was so furious she couldn't speak, her face turning beet red.
"Move aside."
Aurora brushed past Jane, heading towards the stage. Kevin was waving at her from the other side, probably needing something.
Aurora planned to cross the stage.
As she stepped onto the stairs, Jane followed. She grabbed Aurora's hand and yanked her, making it look like Aurora had pushed her from an outsider's perspective.
"Ah!" With a dramatic scream, Jane tumbled to the ground, her voice echoing loudly to draw everyone's attention.
After falling, Jane quickly pierced a blood bag under her, and a pool of blood gushed out.
With a look of terror and panic, Jane tearfully exclaimed, "My baby, Aurora, why did you push me? Why harm my baby?"
Some guests screamed in fright, while others were stunned by the bloody scene.
Same old trick.
Aurora stood on the stage, feeling helpless about the scene. She really wanted to ask Jane if she could come up with something new.
Meanwhile, on the mountain road, John's car sped along, with a dozen cars chasing behind. Countless sharp darts aimed at John's car, trying to puncture the tires.
Their only goal was to take John down.
The car's glass was modified, so the darts couldn't penetrate, but they started aiming at the tires.
A dart pierced the tire, deflating it completely.
Sam, the driver, said with anger, "Boss, Rex and his son really went all out this time. They're determined to kill you."
Tyler dodged as he said, "I'll call for backup right away."
Wade had hired a lot of people this time, with several groups taking turns to attack.
Several cars suddenly appeared ahead, blocking their way.
John ordered sharply, "Charge through, crash."
Sam floored the accelerator, showing no intention of evasion, and charged straight ahead.
At this moment, it was a matter of who was more fearless.
John's expression was cold as ice, not blinking an eye.
Seeing the car charging straight at them, the other side, scared, quickly turned the steering wheel.
John's car crashed into the other car's front, flying over the body, landing dozens of meters away.
The situation was extremely dangerous, but all three of them kept their composure.
"Boss, more cars are coming up from below." Sam glanced outside.
This was a very winding mountain road, a slight mistake could send them tumbling down.
With cars chasing behind and more rushing up from below, this seemed like a mutual destruction scenario.
Even if backup arrived, it would be too late. Wade was ruthless this time.
"I'll drive." John switched places with Sam.
On the mountain road, the sound of tires skidding on the ground was ear-piercing, the roar of the engine constant.
Sam and Tyler were determined, even if they died today, they would protect the boss.
There were too many enemies. John saw rocks falling from above, feeling a sudden pang of concern, "Sam, watch out."
The front windshield was the weakest point. If a rock hit it, they were done.
John quickly turned the wheel, while Sam tilted his head. Rocks fell, one hit the front windshield, creating a hole, denting the car, glass shards flying, all three suffered minor injuries.
A shard of glass had just grazed the corner of John's eye, and blood blurred his vision, making the car slow down, swerving on the road. While cars from front and back were charging madly.
No way out. If hit, their car would be severely damaged.
"Jump." With John's shout, a louder crash echoed. Their car was wrecked, tumbling down the mountain road, flipping several times in the air before landing with a loud crash.
