Chapter 32 This Night is a Bit Torturous
Before John could speak, a shout came from afar.
"Boss!Boss."
It was Sam and Tyler who had arrived.
Aurora followed the sound and saw Sam and Tyler approaching.
This was Aurora's first time seeing Tyler, and she paused for a moment because he seemed familiar.
She couldn't recall where she had seen him before.
"Boss." Sam and Tyler ran over.
Seeing the injury on John's arm, Sam hurried over. "Boss."
Aurora struggled to help John up. "You guys, come help!"
Sam and Tyler were about to move forward but received a secret gesture from John, signaling them to back off.
Sam quickly responded, "Miss White, please help the boss. I'll go get the car."
With that, Sam pulled Tyler away.
Aurora shouted, "Hey, you two, give me a hand..."
But they were already out of sight.
A confused Tyler followed Sam for a while and asked, "Sam, who was that woman?"
"What woman? That's the future hostess of the Lewis family. Can't you even see that?"
Tyler was shocked. "The boss has a woman now?"
"Don't make a fuss." Sam rolled his eyes at Tyler. "Does our boss lack women?"
"But the only one who has caught the boss's eye so far is Miss White."
Aurora, struggling to support John, suddenly realized and asked, "You hurt your hand, not your leg. Why can't you walk by yourself?"
John said seriously, "My leg is numb. Sorry to trouble you, Miss White."
Aurora felt very helpless about this.
John didn't put all his weight on Aurora. He extended his long arm, wrapped it around Aurora's shoulder, and leaned his head on her as they hobbled forward.
The car was parked on the road. After helping John into the car, Aurora got in as well.
This place was remote. If she didn't take this car, what if she ran into Rex and his gang?
Sam started the car and asked, "Boss, back to the old mansion?"
John closed his eyes to rest. "To Meadow Brook."
Meadow Brook was the most luxurious and expensive villa area in Silvercrest City, home to the wealthy and powerful.
An hour later, the car slowly drove into a villa halfway up the hill in Meadow Brook.
This was Aurora's first time here. The villa was as big as a castle, making the White family's small villa look insignificant in comparison.
This villa covered tens of thousands of square feet, and the car drove inside for quite a while.
When the car stopped, hundreds of servants stood on both sides, all saying in unison, "Mr. Lewis."
The grandeur was overwhelming.
John, like a king, walked inside with a regal stride.
Aurora opened her mouth, wanting to ask for a ride back, but John had already gone inside.
Sam walked over respectfully. "Miss White, the boss asked you to dine in the dining room first."
Aurora hadn't eaten anything all night and was indeed hungry.
But she was worried about being too late to return. Her boyfriend might get worried.
After thinking it over, Aurora realized that with this setup, they wouldn't let her leave, so she had no choice but to go inside.
Sam led Aurora to the dining room, which was large enough to accommodate hundreds of people. The long table was filled with delicious dishes, probably over a hundred.
"How can anyone finish all this food?"
"Isn't this wasteful?"
Sam said, "Miss White, you can just taste each dish. They will note your preferences and remove the dishes you don't like from the menu next time."
There probably wouldn't be a next time.
Coming here today was already an accident.
Eating a meal with a dozen servants attending to her, Aurora felt very uncomfortable.
She was really hungry, but with all these people standing around, she couldn't eat.
Aurora said in a negotiating tone, "Sam, why don't you let these people go do something else? I don't need to be served."
She had never been served like this in her life and was really not used to it.
Eating with dozens of eyes on her, she had no appetite.
"Everyone, leave."
The voice came from outside the dining room.
Aurora turned around and saw John, now dressed in casual clothes, looking elegant and aloof. A phrase suddenly popped into her mind, 'A graceful gentleman isunparalleled in the world.'
If it weren't for the scar on his face, he would be the most perfect person in the world.
The servants said, "Yes, Mr. Lewis."
Sam said, "Yes, boss."
John walked over and sat down next to Aurora. The servants left, leaving only Aurora and John in the large dining room.
John glanced at Aurora and asked, "Don't like the food? I can have the cook make something else."
"No need. The food is great." Aurora steadied herself. "Mr. Lewis, can you have someone take me home later? Or at least send me to the foot of the hill."
There were no taxis in this villa area, so she couldn't get a ride.
"No."
John refused very decisively.
Aurora was stunned, not expecting such a straightforward rejection.
She thought, 'How rude he is!'
"It's so late. If I don't go back, my boyfriend will worry. Mr. Lewis, I did help you walk a bit earlier."
John leisurely sipped his water. He was injured and couldn't return to her apartment. If he let Aurora go back, he would have to find an excuse to avoid her for a while.
"Stay here for the night. I'll have Sam take you back in the morning."
Aurora's eyes widened. Staying here for the night? She wouldn't be able to sleep at all.
But walking back was unrealistic. John had already compromised, and asking for more might really offend him.
This Mr. Lewis was indeed as temperamental as the rumors said.
After dinner, a servant led Aurora to a bedroom, where fresh clothes were already prepared.
Standing in the bedroom, Aurora couldn't help but marvel at the grandeur of the lavishly decorated room.
The bedroom alone was over a hundred square feet, and the bathroom was bigger than her entire apartment.
Aurora had a "go with the flow" attitude. Since she couldn't leave, she decided to settle in.
Aurora picked up her phone and sent a message to John: [Something came up tonight, so I won't be coming back.]
After sending the message, Aurora found it a bit unbelievable. It turned out that when someone lived in your heart, the feeling of concern was like this.
In the past, when she was with Daniel, no matter how long they were apart, she never felt anything or reported her activities.
After sending the message, Aurora went into the bathroom.
In the next room, John picked up another phone and glanced at it. It was the message from Aurora.
John stared at the message from Aurora, his eyes filled with deep affection.
This was his girlfriend reporting to him.
John felt a sense of being cared for.
He typed a single word in reply: [Okay!]
Across from him, Sam saw that John was in a good mood and said, "Boss, Todd sent a message. Rex was seriously injured and hospitalized. Mr. Lloyd Lewis has already gone over. The commotion at the dock also alerted the police, and they are now investigating."
John's eyes dimmed. "In the past two years, Uncle Rex has become too arrogant and bold. It's time for him to rein it in, or else the Lewis family will be ruined by him."
Sam said, "Fortunately, we got the information in advance. Otherwise, if that batch of goods had entered the market, the consequences would have been unimaginable."
A century-old family was hard to rise and even harder to sustain, but it could be destroyed in a day.
John lit a cigarette and gazed out the window. "Grandfather is not senile. Rex suffered a heavy loss this time. Prepare a gift for me. I'll visit him tomorrow morning."
"Yes, boss."
In the next room, Aurora soaked in the bathtub, feeling extremely comfortable.
After washing up, she changed into comfortable pajamas and lay down in bed, quickly falling asleep.
Aurora had thought she wouldn't be able to sleep in a strange place, but she felt surprisingly at ease.
Half-asleep, she felt the mattress sink a bit. Remembering that she had locked the door before sleeping, she didn't pay much attention and turned over to continue sleeping.
John lay beside her, looking at the sleeping Aurora, his eyes filled with affection.
"What a silly girl."
John gently kissed Aurora's forehead and pulled her into his arms.
Aurora was a restless sleeper, constantly moving around and touching him.
John felt quite tormented by this little minx.
As the head of the Lewis family, he didn't dare to do anything to Aurora.
He suddenly regretted it. He should have let Aurora go back earlier.
That night, Aurora slept very well, while John had to take several cold showers.
Aurora woke up the next morning and stretched.
Sunlight streamed in, making her feel very good.
Aurora changed into her own clothes and went downstairs to find John already having breakfast.
"Good morning, Mr. Lewis."
Aurora greeted with a smile.
"Mm." John didn't even lift his eyelids. He hadn't slept all night and had been tempted several times to make love to Aurora.
If it weren't for his strong self-control, John might not have been able to resist.
Aurora awkwardly smiled and sat down to have breakfast.
As soon as she sat down, a servant brought over a breakfast.
Aurora glanced at John. Although he was cold and temperamental, he was still a gentleman, allowing her to have a good sleep.
Little did Aurora know, she had used him as a body pillow all night.
John's every move during breakfast was filled with gentlemanly elegance, making him a pleasure to watch.
Aurora had intended to drink her soup without a spoon, but seeing John's elegance, she decided to be ladylike for once and ate her breakfast gracefully.
The two ate breakfast quietly. Aurora felt a sense of familiarity, like having breakfast with her boyfriend in her apartment, but there was also some difference.
For example, John in front of her was cold, while her boyfriend John was a gentle person.
Although they shared the same name, theywere completely different.
After breakfast, Aurora said, "Mr. Lewis, it's getting late. I should go."
"Okay, I'll have Sam take you."
Aurora had thought John wouldn't let her go so easily and had prepared a speech, but John agreed so readily.
Aurora was momentarily stunned before she regained her composure, "Okay, thank you."
Sam walked in. "Miss White, please."
Aurora nodded. She wanted to say something more to John but didn't know what to say, so she left without saying anything.
On the way, Aurora thought about how she had left the Wilson Group in a hurry yesterday and hadn't packed her things.
"Sam, take me to the Wilson Group."
"Okay."
The car arrived at the Wilson Group building, and it was almost ten o'clock.
Aurora remembered what had happened here yesterday. She had offended Ernest and was sure she couldn't continue working here.
Aurora was prepared to resign, but as soon as she arrived, Donna hurried over and said, "Aurora, why are you so late? You're already late. Hurry up and get ready. The big boss is coming soon."
"I'm here to resign." Aurora smiled bitterly. "I've offended the big boss. How can I dare to stay?"
"Why are you resigning? The Wilson Group has been acquired by the Lewis Group." Donna asked, "Didn't you know? Didn't you see the group message? The Lewis Group has sent people to take over. All employees have to go and greet them."
