Chapter 344: Aurora's Greatest Ordeal in This Life
Aurora looked at Lori's injuries and felt a pang of heartache. She said earnestly, "Lori, after this is over, come live with me in Silvercrest City. I'll protect you from now on."
"Aurora, you better keep your word." Lori voiced.
"I will." Aurora gently adjusted Lori's clothes. "Get some rest. The issue with Ava should be resolved soon, so don't worry."
It was almost dawn, and after a night of turmoil, everyone was exhausted.
Aurora left Lori's room and saw John coming back from outside.
"Where did you go? Why did it take so long?"
"Just stretching my legs."
John wrapped his arm around Aurora's waist. "Aurora, you're tired. Let's go back to our room and rest."
It wasn't until the next day that Aurora finally understood what John meant by "stretching his legs."
Early the next morning, Nick came with many expensive gifts to apologize.
Nick's other two sons also came.
Aurora was in the bedroom at the time. It was a suite, and John met with Nick and his sons in the living room.
Nick came because of Todd.
Aurora stood behind the door, peeking through the crack.
"John, last night was a misunderstanding. My men were out of line. Willie privately captured Mr. Smith without my knowledge."
Nick spoke smoothly, deflecting the blame with ease. "I was furious when I found out this morning, so I came immediately to check on Mr. Smith. I'm willing to cover all medical expenses and losses, hoping this won't affect our relationship and our families' cooperation."
John's expression was cold and commanding. "Mr. Cooper, do you think Nightfall is so poor that we need your sponsorship for medical expenses?"
"John, no, no, no, that's not what I meant." Nick waved his hand. "Willie captured that woman without any intention of opposing Nightfall."
John heavily placed his teacup down, his voice cold and eerie. "The woman Mr. Cooper mentioned is my wife's sister."
Nick was stunned.
How could he have known?
Before coming to apologize, he hadn't investigated this connection.
John's tone was calm, but it carried an invisible pressure that made it hard to breathe.
This was what they called presence. A single gesture, a single look, could intimidate people.
At this moment, in John's eyes, Nick was guilty and deserved punishment.
First, for allowing Willie to harm Lori and Todd.
Second, for having disgusting intentions towards Aurora.
He captured his friends and coveted his wife. Could he let Nick go?
Nick's hand trembled slightly. Under John's powerful presence, every second felt like torture.
Nick's third son, Ronnie, finally couldn't hold back. He pointed at John and questioned, "Mr. Lewis, Willie acted without knowing who Mr. Smith and your wife's sister were, but you harmed Raymond and cut off his genitals. How do you account for that? Our family has a standing in this town. Who dares to disrespect us?"
Nick was frightened and quickly signaled him to stop. "Ronnie..."
Before Nick finished speaking, John's eyes darkened. No one saw how John moved, but in an instant, he grabbed Ronnie's hand and twisted it sharply. A sickening crack echoed through the room. It was broken. Then, with a powerful kick, he sent Ronnie flying over ten feet away, causing him to spit out blood.
The action was swift, ruthless, and precise.
Nick and his second son were dumbfounded, and Aurora, who was peeking inside, was also stunned.
She rarely saw John act. The last time he was this furious was when Loren and Summer were kidnapped.
In just a blink, Ronnie was on the ground, unable to get up, faster and more brutal than Lori.
Beating Nick's son in front of him could only be described with one word: arrogant.
John elegantly took out a handkerchief to wipe his hands, glanced at the lifeless Ronnie on the ground, and coldly smirked. "I do things my way and I don't care about saving face for anyone. From today, Nightfall will terminate all cooperation with your family. Within ten days, I want your family to disappear from this town forever."
The last few words were domineering, making people tremble with fear.
Nick's face changed dramatically. "John, it's not worth ruining our relationship over Willie."
John called out, "Sam and Tyler, show our guests out."
Sam and Tyler stepped in from outside. "Mr. Cooper, please leave."
Nick looked at John, then at Ronnie with his broken hand.
Ronnie got his hand broken because of disrespecting John. Raymond got his genitals cut off because of trying to capture.
John had made his stance clear. Even though Nick knew he wasn't as strong as John, he had to tough it out. "John, I came sincerely to apologize and check on you. If you don't accept, fine, but you hurt my son. Do you really think I'm afraid of Nightfall? My family has been established here for a hundred years.. How long has Nightfall been around? You're overestimating yourself. If we let this go, the Cooper family is willing to give up three percent in all cooperation with Nightfall."
Giving up three percent meant tens of billions of dollars in annual profits.
This was using the toughest tone to say the most cowardly words.
John sneered. "I don't need money. I just want to see if taking down the Cooper family is overestimating myself."
"Sam and Tyler, throw them out." John had lost his patience.
Three seconds later, Sam and Tyler each grabbed one and threw Nick's sons out.
Nick, being old, would probably end up in the hospital if thrown out.
Seeing this, Nick left as fast as he could, afraid of being thrown out.
The gifts Nick brought were also thrown out.
Todd stood at the door of the opposite room, waving and smiling at Nick. "Mr. Cooper, you brought this on yourself."
Nick realized that his one evil thought would lead to the destruction of his entire family.
"Don't get too cocky. The Cooper family isn't that easy to destroy." This was Nick's last bit of stubbornness.
However, ten days later, it was proven. But that's a story for another time.
As soon as Nick and his sons left the hotel, John ordered a break with the Cooper family. Within ten days, the Cooper family would be destroyed. This news shocked everyone.
On one side was a century-old family, and on the other was Nightfall, which had rapidly grown in just a few years. No one wanted to offend either side, so the smart ones chose to remain neutral.
That afternoon, Allan indeed came to take Richard away, and Lori went with him.
Aurora had been in the town for two days and missed her son, wanting to go back soon.
Just as Aurora and John were about to leave, John received a call from Helen.
Helen was crying on the phone, "John, Jax is missing."
