Chapter 108 Moving into The Lewis Family's Mansion with John

Aurora's face turned even redder.

John's gaze softened as he looked at Aurora's belly, looking a bit incredulous.

Aurora went to get her blood drawn, and the results would take about twenty minutes.

Afterward, Aurora sat in a hallway chair while John went to the car to grab her a blanket.

"How about we wait in the car or have someone pick up the results tomorrow?"

Aurora shook her head. "It's just twenty minutes; it'll be ready soon."

"Alright."

John sat down next to her.

They both fell silent. Aurora felt anxious and glanced at John.

John rarely showed any expression, making it hard for Aurora to read him.

Aurora tentatively asked, "John, you seem unhappy?"

"How could I be?" John forced a stiff smile.

Aurora poked his face. "See, you can't even smile."

"I'm just so happy that I don't know how to express it." John showed his sweaty palm. "My palms are sweating from nerves."

Seeing his sweaty palm, Aurora laughed. "I didn't expect anything to make you nervous. I'm a bit nervous too."

They exchanged glances and laughed.

John reached out to touch Aurora's belly, feeling amazed. "Do we really have a baby?"

With his hand on her belly, Aurora felt a mix of emotions—nervousness, joy, and anxiety.

"The results aren't out yet, so it's not certain." Aurora tilted her head. "What were you thinking about just now?"

John fixed his gaze on Aurora. "I was thinking, maybe we should get married. I've even thought of names. If it's a girl, Lily. If it's a boy, Roy."

Aurora burst out laughing. "Roy? That's so random. You're clearly favoring girls over boys. Do you not like boys?"

But honestly, Aurora felt warm and happy. John had thought about marriage and the baby's name so quickly. He was envisioning the future, which gave her a sense of security.

"I hope it's a girl, more like you. Then I can protect both of you." John paused. "If it's a boy, then we'll protect you together."

Father and son, mother and daughter...

These ordinary words now felt warm and wonderful.

Having a child meant a new identity and more responsibility.

Aurora was moved and kissed John on the cheek. "John, thank you."

"Thank you for making me feel secure," her inner voice said.

Aurora lacked a sense of security. Being valued and cared for was a great fortune.

John looked at her lovingly. "Aurora, thank you for coming into my life."

Aurora smiled, wrapped her arm around John's, and rested her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes.

They waited quietly.

The seconds ticked by.

A nurse approached. "Mr. Lewis, Ms. White, the results are out. Dr. Patterson wants to see you in the office."

"Alright."

Aurora felt nervous.

John said, "You wait here; I'll get the results."

"Okay." Aurora let go of John, also afraid of being disappointed.

John went to the office and returned shortly. Aurora stood up and asked, "How is it?"

John walked towards Aurora and picked her up. "You've been up all night; you need to rest."

Hearing this, Aurora knew the answer. "So, I'm not pregnant?"

John walked out with large strides, comforting Aurora with a smile. "I need to try harder. Once you're rested, we'll try again."

"Okay!" Aurora's eyes dimmed, and she felt a wave of disappointment.

Seeing John's excitement about having a child, she really hoped to be pregnant.

They had been trying a lot recently, but still no luck. Was it possible she couldn't have kids anymore?

After she gave birth years ago, Dr. Scott mentioned her uterus was positioned differently, making it hard to conceive. Plus, she almost had a hemorrhage during delivery, reducing her chances of getting pregnant again.

Aurora looked up at John's chin and softly asked, "Are you very disappointed?"

"No." John smiled. "Aurora, let's let nature take its course. When the time is right, it will happen."

Aurora nestled in John's arms and said no more.

They returned to the Meadow Brook villa. After a night of turmoil, Aurora was truly exhausted and fell asleep on the way.

She didn't wake up until the next afternoon. When Aurora opened her eyes, she saw John on the balcony, talking on the phone, one hand in his pocket, looking tall and handsome.

Lying in bed, Aurora couldn't help but trace John's outline with her hand. With John's genes, their child would surely be beautiful.

Unfortunately, her belly wasn't cooperating.

Aurora touched her flat belly and sighed softly.

John noticed Aurora was awake and said into the phone, "Randy, since Summer broke a record, he deserves a reward. Let him leave the island for a week."

After hanging up, John walked into the bedroom, sat by the bed, and kissed Aurora on the forehead. "I asked Gary to prepare some nutritious meals for you to help your body recover."

"Okay." Aurora touched her belly and smiled. "I'm actually a bit hungry. I need to call Loren, or he'll worry."

Aurora's car had been towed to the repair shop, and John had someone retrieve her phone from the car.

Aurora made a video call to Loren while eating.

Todd arrived then, and, seeing John leisurely trimming flowers, he was stunned and walked over.

"Mr. Lewis, are we just going to let last night's incident go?"

This wasn't like John.

Chris had planned to kidnap Aurora. If Aurora hadn't insisted on not going after Chris, Chris would have lost his other leg.

John continued trimming the flowers. "Aurora has the final say."

Aurora had roughly explained last night's events to John. Chris had been sensible enough; otherwise, if he had really harmed Aurora, John would have ended him.

John admired Aurora for being able to bluff Chris in such a situation.

It seemed Aurora was well-suited to be the future mistress of the Lewis family.

Todd looked hurt. "Mr. Lewis, do you two have to be so intimate?"

"Take the medicine."

Gary walked in with a bowl of medicine. "It's time for you to be seriously ill."

"Yes." John took the bowl and drank it. "We'll go back to the old house tonight. Todd, spread the news that I'm seriously ill."

The medicine Gary prepared would make John look very weak. Rumors had been circulating that John was terminally ill, so he had to put on a show.

First, he would "fall seriously ill" to expose the ambitions of the Lewis family's side branches, then "recover" to reorganize the family.

That was John's plan.

Seeing Todd and Gary, Aurora ended the video call and walked over. John asked, "Aurora, would you be willing to move into the Lewis family's place with me? As the future mistress of the Lewis family?"
